Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) undertake a huge task for sustaining a balanced economic and regional development. Nonetheless, as in many other countries, SMEs in our country face many problems. Many institutions for reducing such problems support SMEs. Despite being supported, SMEs are not able to reach their goals as desired. In this study, surveys dealing with the determination of problems of SMEs in Ankara 1st Organized Industrial Zone have been carried out, and advices for solutions have been submitted. In the result of the study, it has been found out that the main problems of SMEs are ranked according to their importance and frequency; production costs, finance, export, technology, R&D, production, marketing, organization and management. Many suggestions for solving these problems have been suggested, and especially it has been emphasized that as an application that will reduce the costs barter should be used, total quality management and ISO9000 quality standard should be applied and computer-aided production should be encouraged.
