Date of Conference: 24-26 April 2019 Conference name: 27th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2019 Akut koroner sendroma (AKS) sahip hastalarda, miyokard infarktüsü başlangıcından önce geçici göğüs ağrıları ile birlikte EKG sinyalinin ST segmentinde ve T dalgasında değişiklikler meydana gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada, AKS’nin gürbüz tespitini gerçekleştirmek amacıyla, EKG sinyalinin ST segmentindeki ve T dalgasındaki anomalileri güncel sinyal işleme ve makine öğrenmesi tekniklerini kullanarak tespit eden bir teknik geliştirilmiştir. Bu amaçla, STAFF III veri tabanındaki geniş bantlı kayıtlar kullanılarak, AKS’nin teşhisi için ayırıcılığı en yüksek olan EKG özniteliklerini elde eden özgün bir öznitelik çıkarım tekniği geliştirilmiştir. Elde edilen kritik öznitelikleri kullanarak, AKS’nin gürbüz tespitini gerçekleştiren destek vektör makinelerine (DVM) ve çekirdek fonksiyonlarına dayalı bir gözetimli öğrenme tekniği geliştirilmiştir. Önerilen tekniğin STAFF III veri tabanındaki kayda değer sayıda hastadan elde edilen başarım sonuçları, tekniğin oldukça güvenilir AKS tespiti sağladığını göstermektedir. For this purpose, by using the wideband recordings on STAFF III database, a novel feature extraction technique which obtains the most discriminative ECG features for the detection of ACS is developed. By using the critical features, a supervised learning technique based on support vector machines (SVM) and kernel functions which performs the robust detection of ACS is developed. The performance results of the proposed technique obtained from a considerable number of patients on STAFF III database indicate that the technique provides highly reliable detection of ACS.

Bu amaçla, European ST-T veri tabanındaki geniş bantlı kayıtlar kullanılarak, KAH’ın güvenilir tespiti için kritik olan EKG özniteliklerini elde eden özgün bir öznitelik çıkarım tekniği geliştirilmiştir. Elde edilen öznitelikleri kullanarak, KAH’ın gürbüz tespitini gerçekleştiren destek vektör makinelerine (DVM) ve çekirdek fonksiyonlarına dayalı bir gözetimli öğrenme tekniği geliştirilmiştir. İskemik EKG verilerinin eksik olduğu durumlarda, sadece bazal EKG verilerini kullanarak KAH’ın gürbüz tespitini gerçekleştiren Gauss karışım modeline (GKM) dayalı bir gözetimsiz ögrenme tekniği geliştirilmiştir. KAH’ı temsil eden aykırı değerlerin gürbüz tespitini gerçekleştirmek için Neyman-Pearson tipi bir yaklaşım geliştirilmiştir. Önerilen tekniğin European ST-T veri tabanı üzerindeki başarım sonuçları, tekniğin oldukça güvenilir KAH tespiti sağladığını göstermektedir. By using the extracted features, a supervised learning technique based on support vector machines (SVM) and kernel functions which performs the robust detection of CAD is developed. In cases where ischaemic ECG data is missing, an unsupervised learning technique based on Gaussian mixture model (GMM) which performs the robust detection of CAD by using only basal ECG data is developed. A Neyman-Pearson type of approach is developed to perform the robust detection of the outliers that correspond to CAD. The performance results of the proposed technique over European ST-T database show that the technique provides highly reliable detection of CAD.

Date of Conference: 2-5 May 2018 In patients with acute myocardial ischemia, chest pains together with changes in ST/T sections of ECG signal occur before the start of myocardial infarction. In this study, in order to diagnose acute myocardial ischemia, a technique which automatically detects changes in ST/T sections of ECG is developed. For this purpose, by using ECG recordings of STAFF III database, ECG features that are critical in the detection of acute myocardial ischemia are identified. By using support vector machines (SVM) operating with linear and radial basis function (RBF) kernels, classifiers that use two and four most discriminating features of ST/T sections of ECG signal are designed. As a result of implementing the developed technique on ECG recordings of STAFF III database, obtained results over a considerable number of patients indicate that the proposed technique provides highly reliable detection of acute myocardial ischemia. Therefore, by using the developed technique, early and accurate diagnosis of acute myocardial ischemia can be performed, which can lead to a significant decrease in morbidity and mortality rates.

Bu çalışmada, Avusturya’daki Graz Üniversitesi’nde alınmış EEG veri seti kullanılarak gerçek zamanlı EEG işleme simülasyonu ile motor hayal etme sınıflandırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu veri setinde sağ el ya da sol elin hareket ettirilme hayali esnasında 8 kişiden alınmış iki kanallı EEG sinyalleri bulunmaktadır. Her katılımcıdan 60 sağ ve 60 sol olmak üzere toplamda 120 adet yaklaşık 9 saniyelik motor hayal etme deneme sinyali kayıt edilmiştir. Bu sinyaller filtrelemeye tabi tutulmuştur. Yirmi dört, 32 ve 40 elemanlı özellik vektörü bant geçiren filtreler kullanarak elde edilen göreceli güç değişim değerleridir (GGDD). Bu çalışmada, lineer diskriminant analizi (LDA), k en yakın komşular (KNN) ve destek vektör makinaları (SVM) ile sınıflandırma yapılmış, en iyi sınıflandırma performansının 24 değerli özellik vektörüyle ve LDA sınıflandırma yöntemiyle elde edildiği gösterilmiştir. Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology is used to help patients who do not have control over motor neurons such as ALS or paralyzed patients, to communicate with outer world. This work aims to classify motor imageries using real-time EEG dataset, which was published by Graz University, Austria. The dataset consists of two-channel EEG signals of right-hand movement imagery and left-hand movement imagery of 8 subjects. There are a total of 120 motor imagery trials (60 left and 60 right) EEG signals recorded from each subject. EEG signals are filtered and feature vectors were extracted that consist of 24, 32 and 40 relative band power values (RBPV). In this work, feature vectors classified by three different methods, linear discriminant analysis (LDA), K nearest neighbor (KNN) and support vector machines (SVM). Results show that best performance was achieved by 24 RBPV feature vector and LDA classification method. © 2016 IEEE.

With this aim, clustering performance of some distance measures in Matlab(C) has been compared, using breast cancer data. Later without using any pre-processing, some of the machine learning techniques are used for the clustering breast cancer data, using WEKA data mining software(C). As a result, it has been seen that distance measures effects the clustering performance nearly 12 percentage and the succes of the classification varies from % 45 to % 79, according to the methods. Karşılaştırma amacıyla destek vektör makineleri, yapay sinir ağları ile elde edilen sınıflandırıcılar ve kural bazlı bir sınıflandırıcı kullanılmıştır. Sınıflandırıcıların tasarlanması ve dogrulanması amacıyla 7 farklı denekten üçer defa düşme ve düşme dışındaki günlük aktivitelere ilişkin ivmeölçer verileri toplanmıştır. Yapılan karşılaştırma sonucunda tespit doğruluğu en yüksek algoritmanın %87,76 ile destek vektör makineleri olduğu bulunmuştur. En yüksek düşme tespit oranı da %90,91 ˘ olarak kural bazlı sınıflandırıcı kullanımıyla elde edilmiştir. En yüksek özgüllük oranı %89,47 ile yine destek vektör makineleri ile elde edilmiştir. A comparative study of various fall detection algorithms based upon measurements of a wearable tri-axial accelerometer unit is presented in this paper. Least squares support vector machine, neural network and rule-based classifiers are evaluated in the scope of this paper. Training and testing data sets, which are necessary for design and testing of the classifiers, respectively, are collected from 7 people. Each subject exercised simulated falls and other daily life activities such as walking, sitting etc. Among three methods, support vector machine-based classifier is found to be superior in terms of both correct detection and false alarm ratio as 87,76% precision and 89.47% specifity. Meanwhile, best sensitivity is achieved with rule-based classifiers. © 2014 IEEE.

Date of Conference: 24-26 April 2013 In this work, we study the task of recognizing human actions from noisy videos and effects of noise to recognition performance and propose a possible solution. Datasets available in computer vision literature are relatively small and could include noise due to labeling source. For new and relatively big datasets, noise amount would possible increase and the performance of traditional instance based learning methods is likely to decrease. In this work, we propose a multiple instance learning-based solution in case of an increase in noise. For this purpose, each video is represented with spatio-temporal features, then bag-of-words method is applied. Then, using support vector machines (SVM), both instance-based learning and multiple instance learning classifiers are constructed and compared. The classification results show that multiple instance learning classifiers has better performance than instance based learning counterparts on noisy videos. © 2013 IEEE.

Bu bildiride, belirli göz hareketleri sonucu elde edilen elektrookülogram (EOG) sinyallerinin sınıflandırılması için Destek Vektör Makinesi (DVM) ve Yapay Sinir Ağı (YSA) yöntemleri karşılaştırılmaktadır. Göz hareketleri kullanarak kontrol edilecek bir sistemin parçası olarak seçilen yöntemler, doğruluk ve hız parametreleri bakımından karşılaştırılmıştır. Alınan EOG sinyalleri, yatay (sağ ve sol), dikey (aşağı ve yukarı) ve kırpma biçimindeki 5 farklı göz hareketinden oluşmaktadır. 20 denekten, yatay ve dikey bileşenli iki EOG kanalından alınan sinyal kümesinden, 3 elemanlı öznitelik vektörleri hesaplanmıştır. Öznitelik vektörlerinin ilk iki elemanı, kanallardaki tepe genlik değerinden, üçüncüsü ise bu çalışmada özgün olarak önerilen parametre olan, aktif kanala ait basıklık değerinden oluşmaktadır. Deneklerden elde edilen öznitelik vektörlerinden rasgele 10 tanesi adı geçen sınıflandırıcıların eğitimi, kalan 10 tanesi de başarımlarını değerlendirmek için kullanılmıştır. Çevrimdışı olarak yapılan testler sonucu her iki sınıflandırma yönteminde de % 100 başarı elde edilmiştir. Ortaya çıkan cevap süreleri de iki yöntemin gerçek zamanlı olarak kullanıma uygun olduğunu göstermektedir. In this paper, we present a comparison Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for classification of electrooculogram (EOG) signals acquired under specific eye movements. These methods that are required for an eye controlled system are compared by means of their accuracy and response time. Acquired EOG signals consist of 5 different eye movements - being horizontal (right and left), vertical (up and down) and blink. EOG signal acquisition was achieved from 20 different subjects by using two EOG channels (vertical and horizontal) and 3 element feature vectors were extracted. The first two elements of the feature vectors are the peak amplitudes of two channels whereas the third element, being our proposed parameter, is the kurtosis value of the active channel. 10 of 20 randomly selected feature vectors were used for training of the classifiers whereas the rest was used for performance tests. Offline tests yield 100 % success rate for both of the classifiers. The response times of both methods make them suitable for real-time usage.

Ayırdetme işlemi için basit Bayeşçi (BB) yöntem, yapay sinir ağları (YSA), benzeşmezlik tabanlı sınıflandırıcı (BTS), ceşitli karar ağacı (KA) yöntemleri, Gauss karışım modeli (GKM) ve destek vektör makinaları (DVM) kullanılmıştır. Aktiviteler gövdeye, kollara ve bacaklara takılan beş duyucu ünitesinden gelen verilerin işlenmesiyle ayırdedilmiştir. Her ünite, her biri üç-eksenli olmak üzere birer ivmeölçer, dönüölçer ve manyetometre içermektedir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, en iyi ilk üç başarı oranı sırasıyla GKM (%99.12), YSA (%99.09) ve DVM (%98.90) yöntemleri ile elde edilmiştir. This study provides a comparative performance assessment of various pattern recognition techniques on classifying human activities that are performed while wearing miniature inertial and magnetic sensors. Human activities are classified using five sensor units worn on the chest, the arms, and the legs. Each sensor unit comprises a tri-axial accelerometer, a tri-axial gyroscope, and a tri-axial magnetometer. The classification techniques compared in this study are: naive Bayesian (NB), artificial neural networks (ANN), dissimilarity-based classifier (DBC), various decision-tree methods, Gaussian mixture model (GMM), and support vector machines (SVM). According to the outcome of the study, the three methods that result in the highest correct differentiation rates are GMM (99.12%), ANN (99.09%), and SVM (99.80%).
