The article entitled “Virtue in Silappathikaram” focuses on Silambu as one of the epic literature that has emerged to the heights following the principles of epic tradition of Tamil literary ethics. 'Pleasure comes from virtue'. Hence, Virtue plays a major role in the lead epic, being the base of virtue, substance, pleasure, and home, which can be a guarantee for great epics. That kind of virtue has been a kind of psychic healing among the Tamils from the very beginning. This article discusses how an epic is perceived, the high qualities of the epic regarding the virtues, the times that indicate good, the benefits of doing so, and the virtues conveyed in Silappathikaram.
