The following work intends to reconstruct the ethical problem in the work of Jacques-Alain Miller from its beginnings in 1960, until the turn adopted at the beginning of the 80's from the phrase other Lacan. This new punctuation, of political and epistemic origins, is defined in the course of 1983 From the symptom to the fantasy from the emphasis on the real that Lacan makes in the ethics seminar and that Miller takes up for his new theoretical-clinical formulations. As an interpretive framework for said reconstruction, his passage from philosophy to psychoanalysis will be thematized, taking into account not only the academic origins of the author, but also the eminently philosophical character of ethics as a reflection oriented towards practical problems. As such, the dialectic between psychoanalysis and philosophy proves to sustain a critical tension that prevents the reduction of the problem to models of complementarity or the definition of psychoanalysis as a simple anti-philosophy. This paper explores in detail the concept of ideology in Žižek's work, showing its affiliation with Lacan's notion of phantasm. Considering ideology in the light of its relations with the divided subject and with the objet a, the essay shows how ideology intervenes on two levels that must be distinguished: the fantasy and the symptom. What I will propose is that ideology looks on one side towards fantasy, whose function is to hide the difference between political reality and the real, and on the other it evokes the symptom, which is the return of the real, of what was excluded from reality and which, nevertheless, appears to reintroduce the lack in the social field. This premise will lead me to argue that if the symptom is what makes the unification of reality impossible, the danger of the realization of fantasy lies in the search for a fully reconciled political reality. A correct anamnesis and physical examination are basic to carry out an adequate diagnostic orientation and therapeutic plan for any type of pain. This will allow us to define its characteristics well in order to carry out a good differential diagnosis. We present the case of a patient referred from Neurology department due to chronic pain in the left thigh, initially classified as neuropathic pain. After evaluation and follow-up in our unit, he was finally diagnosed with cancer pain secondary to a metastatic lesion. It is extremely important to reassess any patient referred to the pain unit, paying attention to any warning signs. This may serve as a guide for the diagnosis of other diseases such as malignant neoplasms, whose prognosis will be influenced by early treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to draw conclusions about the place of psychoanalysis in the contemporary world and, in particular, about what the latter demands from psychoanalysis as theory and as practice, in this article, I go back to some of Lacan's elaborations about the symptom as a way of updating the psychoanalytic praxis with respect to Freud's teaching. The horizon of my reflection is that of the different mutations that have taken place in the contemporary world and their effects, an issue that we can place in Lacan's developments about the capitalist discourse. My interest is to return to some elements that are at stake of what has been called the "subjectivity of the epoch", considering the scope that some diagnoses may have and their relationship with what is at stake for the subjects in today's discourse. The treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) from a psychoanalytic perspective entails the questioning of the approach guided by pharmacology and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) to introduce a clinical standpoint where the subject and their symptom are treated otherwise. In this case, psychoanalytic therapy offers the option of the word, the game, and other strategies for the treatment of children, where the symbolic becomes valuable since it is the privileged way to producing therapeutic effects. The direction of the treatment is applied here without attempting to normalize; nevertheless, because of the singularity of the symptom, it is possible to decipher it, regulate the drive overflow, and offer a necessary mooring for the subject. In this article we will develop the conception of psychoanalysis as symptom in the framework of capitalist advance, especially aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The ideology governed by capital is located at the antipodes of that sustained by the ethics of desire. Psychoanalysis counts on the uprising of the symptom, which in its formal symbolic envelope veils a Real, irreducible to mercantile logic. This generates a tension with the teleological perspectives of history, outlined in the question of the scope of capitalist discourse, the one that Lacan destined to explode. At the end of the last century, the "new symptoms" appeared on the theoretical scene of psychoanalysis warning about a certain resistance to the "dialectical openness" that psychoanalysis has always recognized to any symptomatic formation. The purpose of this paper is to review the concepts that make possible the clinical and ethical actions of those who are guided by the psychoanalytic theory. Freudian and Lacanian postulates are articu lated in parallel to, in the end, make a proposal that guides the analyst when facing the difficult everyday nature of the patient's demand during the consultation. The hesitation of the countenances of culture and the push to the jouissance through the unlimited consumption has modified the barriers that limited, steered and organized the drive satisfactions in other historical periods. It is from the understanding of these new coordinates that new modalities of sufferings arise disturbing the subjects' relationship life, though they become mute regarding the knowledge-assumption and the interpretative practice. This article aims at stressing on some theoretical categories that define the Freudian symptom from the description and clinical analysis of the drug-addiction strategy as a fateful way of answering the contemporary consumption imperatives. Starting from a review of stablished concept of trauma, as an experience that overflows mind channels to assimilate, and coming from the past, the author raises the issue about future as a temporary stance potentially traumatic. By a review of different sources, from culture and clinic, the author proposes that there are plausibles reasons to consider a future, seen as catastrophic, could have footprints such as trauma has. It drifts to symptoms like hopelessness, opioids abuse in large quantities, among others. If this idea has validity, then it is asked which are the consequences to the psychoanalytical theory and praxis. On the basis of semiotic considerations regarding the symptom and the psychoanalytical approach to it, the article addresses the Lacanian conception of sinthome, taking it as the fourth term that, in a semiotic square, would complete the registers of the symbolic, the imaginary, and the real, thanks to the operation of the denial of impossibility and contingency by the subject of the enunciation. By articulating these formulations with the discursive perspective of Laclau and Mouffe and Fontanille’s semiotic considerations on antagonism, we interpret the Peace Agreements achieved between antagonists as expressions of the social sinthome, shaped by the antagonists in the very process of negotiation. Even if hatred is "less easily accessible to our consent", it characterizes our times. In order to clarify the paradox --hate, civilization, feeling--, the article inquires into these concepts by combining the logic of analytical discourse and the neoliberal logic that presides over "our" fate. "Hate is a passion of being" to which it tends. But, why does being trigger hate? This analysis leads us from that which is real for the subject to the hatred of God: religious transcendence responds to the unthinkable of the subject. Moreover, if capitalist discourse rejects the ways of love, does it not likewise forclude hate? Psychoanalysis makes it possible to think a society of the "nonrelation"; it certainly reestablishes the possibility of taking stock of its own hatred, while, at the same time, opening up a space for love. This paper aims at showing how hysteria and other historically known corporal phenomena (witchcraft and demonic possession) can be read as expressions of a form of discourse instead of a mere clinic interpretation, not saying that such an interpretation is not possible and legitimate in some way. Hysteria discourse would express from the outside or from the inside, but always against the discourses dominant in a time and context that were possible and legitimate in some way. Hysteria discourse would express in the social in a concrete way, i.e., as a form of subversive and critical discourse whose transverse feature has been the use of the body as the privileged way of expression. Since the end of the 20th century, the phenomenon of drug addiction has been rising so intensely that it is becoming a social phenomenon. From the psychoanalytic point of view, it seems to be similar to what happened with hysteria at the end of the 19th century. How drug addiction are understood from the psychoanalytic clinic? This paper tries to answer this question by taking into account some case reports in order to carry out a conceptual analysis of the drug in relation to the symptom, this as a response to the cultural discontent, with reference to the sexual and traumatic, and in its corresponding function according to the psychic structure. This essay examines the concept of the gaze and its relation to the political. Through the analysis of the filial relation between father and son in Emili Teixidor's novel and the film of Agustí Villaronga, Pa negre (2003 and 2010, respectively), the essay studies the question of heritage and legacy in the context of the inoperativity of the contemporary politics of memory. This paper is aimed at studying the psychological demand in the primary health care centers of La Plata city hall and their relationship with the therapeutic strategies. Some questions about the introducing way of the symptom in this contemporary time have emerged and led us to review the discussion on the so-called "new symptoms" within the psychoanalytic field. Thus, a problem arises from an empirical finding: a notorious increase of the psychological demand in the public sphere both in the municipality health centers and the psychopathology and mental health offices of the hospitals. From the bibliographical exegesis and the case-histories analysis some issues on the care provision are pointed out as they involve unselected and diverse consultations. In this sense, some of the answers the psychoanalysis has offered to its social practice will be studied and thereby make us wonder on the necessary twists to set a device that regards the institution policies but keeping the ethics and theoretical-clinical grounds of the psychoanalysis itself. We can only situate the singularity that the psychoanalytic practice demands if we inquire on and displace the generalizations. A practice that should regard the history-case as unique. Starting of a retrospective look about the Venezuela's drift toward totalitarism as political system, the author starts asking himself about the psycosocial characteristics, which define it. For the convenience angle of psychoanalysis he questions if autoritarism it is a symptom or a structure. If it is a symptom it is a trade between desires with anguish balance or a structure, a discursive conjunct relatively hard to change. By using others countries examples he proposes that psychoanalysis only can be practise in the framework of Democracy and Human Rights respect. However, in those countries were totalitarism insists as a form of government there are some consequences in the practice, training and ways of association between analysts which are remarkable. Freud was wrong to think that religion would disappear with the development of scientific knowledge. However, his own discoveries, drives and the unconscious, presuppose that a process of objectivization cannot ground itself. Religion is part of those irreducible, dark desires of the subject of drive alterations, that is, of angst. Thus, the problem of religion is not an epistemological but an ethical problem. Kant's attempt to link moral law to the unity of ends was perhaps a delusional effort to ground religion, although he established the irreversible principle according to which it is moral law that grounds religion and not the other way around. This, precisely, makes it possible to think the subject affected by angst as subject of the symptom; from this perspective, religion would become a symptomatic mode of feeling guilt and responsibility. In sum, religious experience would be an ethical experience and not a dogmatic theology or a theocratic ideology. It would arise from the drive depths of dissatisfaction and angst. From the beginning of Psychoanalysis, Freud was in charge of organizing the field of his clinic considering the form of presentation of the symptom and its relation with that which determines it. However, at present the field of Psychopathology includes the so-called "new symptoms", those that in close relation with specific aspects of the contemporary culture, would frequently present with epidemic character. Historical-cultural conditioning and its impact on the changes in the formal envelope of the symptom will be addressed, as well as the importance of presenting the so-called "new symptoms" that for some authors are presented as epidemic and for Stevens (2001) To be considered naked by the absence of formal envelopment and the predominance of manifestations of pure enjoyment. We refer to disturbances as anorexia, bulimia, self-mutilations, etc. In this way, there are terms that try to establish a truth that seeks satisfaction for the subject. So we ask ourselves about the dress that the symptom acquires in the contemporary age, that is to say, these demands would be inserted in the presentations of the so-called "new symptoms"?, and if this is the case with new forms of symptoms, what would contribute as a novelty to the field of the clinic? This article provides a construction of the case of James Joyce as a clinical case by making a review of the guidelines that Lacan emphasized in 1975-1976. Methodologically it's based on the autobiographical work about childhood and adolescence and offers a reading of the original constellation of birth, the foundational position of the subjective orientation, the effects of rejection and the singular pathos that afflicted him: the words imposed or experience of parasite language. The article pursues three objectives. On the one hand, it sheds light on the close relation between the comic and death, and, on the other, it situates the link between humor and the super-ego in order to explore a possible effect of the "humorist" label. Current discussions on the role of the symptom in the contemporary subjective positions constantly interpellate psychoanalysts about its function and its underlying forms of suffering. This paper suggests differentiating the issues of cause and determination when thinking about the subject. The idea is to address a certain concern about the place of the human within the current discourse of science, which seeks to integrate it into the field of natural objects. Before this «biological prejudice», psychoanalysis proposes an innovative conception of causality, according to which the cause stems from the way the subject places itself in front of determinations, avoiding their imperative. this article analyzes a variety of academic models from retention to persistence in pro of permanence, emphasizing those that are bolstered by psychological and interactional approaches such as the self-determination theory. This theory and the offshoot models that have hence been proposed were reinterpreted in order to propose three categories, which introduce qualitative criteria from the psychoanalytic standpoint, to study factors associated with academic permanence taking into account the students subjectivity. The subjectivity inclusion in the student permanence models opens a field of investigative work that has not been sufficiently studied as the current retention models that seek to prevent in masse desertion are generalized, utilizing factorial methodologies that ignore the case- by- case analysis. Objective: To associate musculoskeletal disorders and ergonomic risk factors in nursing staff from a clinic in the Atlantic Coast, 2014. Materials and Methods: Descriptive-analytic study conducted with 111 nursing workers. The sociodemographic survey, Nordic (Spanish version) and a risk rating instrument according to physical activity were applied. Results: 73.9% of nursing staff in the institution are nursing assistants, 84.7% are women, with an average age of 30 years; 42.3% has been working at the clinic for less than a year and they work 41 to 60 hours a week on average (58.6%). 49.5% of nursing staff expressed muscular pains over the past 12 months, being back (37.8%) and neck (16.2%), the most affected parts of the body. During the working day, 39.6% carry weights higher than those permitted for men and women. There is significant association (p < 0.05) between the physical workload and the risk to show back symptoms (p = 0.036) or right hand-wrist troubles (p = 0.014). Conclusions: Back and right hand wrist pains are significantly associated (p < 0.05) to the physical workload risk. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Clinical practices regarding the symptom in the different devices have to deal with the structure and types of symptoms but not with their forms. These forms can be considered to depend on the social and cultural milieu in which the bearers of the symptoms are immersed, which takes us back to what Lacan saw as a social bond based on language, a bond he translated into four fundamental types of discourse, plus one: capitalist discourse. Insofar as it articulates market determinations and technical-scientific ideology, capitalist discourse coerces contemporary subjectivity. This determination implies a change in the form of the superego and in the relation with it. The reinvention of psychoanalysis imposed by our times necessarily entails revisiting hysteria--cofounder of our practice--, a name used by psychoanalysts in very diverse epistemic senses and levels, in which phenomenology, structure, discourse, and symptom are frequently confused. Although hysteria is a central element of our conceptualizations, it is difficult to grasp in a univocal manner. Therefore, revisiting hysteria leads us to question our foundations, and, in the particular case of contemporary clinical practice and the so-called new symptoms, it symptomatizes our historical reference to classical hysteria as mythical. This paper seeks to clear up some principles to the understanding of the symptom by addressing the Freudian and Lacanian texts in order to elucidate the constitution of meaning in the symptom, its genesis, its unconscious status, its relation to the satisfaction of the drive, and thereby to understand the jouissance of the symptom.
