The power of criminal organizations has permeated the institutions with the so-called transnational organized crime, a phenomenon that finds support on economic openness, economic growth, technological development, and the flow of goods and people and transit of non-state agents that commercialize illicit products. These "companies of crime" represent a challenge for the State and are a visible threat to the border corridor between Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil, as well as to the other countries of the region. In this document, the most outstanding factors that have contributed to the settlement of these criminal networks in the Triple Frontier are identified, for example, the population growth and geographical characteristics that hinder the control of the area, the scarce joint initiatives, the lack of control and global policies, and the hybrid nature of these organizations.
