The book "Language and Politics. A Critical History of Spanish Dictionaries in Argentina" by Daniela Lauria analyzes the relationship between Spanish dictionaries in Argentina and the country's politics and history. The author uses a glotopolitical approach to examine how dictionaries establish social hierarchies and authority. The book is divided into two parts and four chapters, addressing different historical moments and revealing ideas about the Spanish language and its relationship with national identity. The influence of dictionaries on the dichotomy between civilization and barbarism is highlighted, as well as their role in legitimizing the Hispanic world. The glotopolitical approach allows us to understand how dictionaries contribute to the constitution of nations and their identities. [Extracted from the article]
