The objective of this article is to recover debates, projects and measures for the regulation of paid domestic work in the context of the elaboration of Brazilian labor laws during the so-called "Vargas Era" (1930-1945). The hypothesis that guides the analysis, which is based on primary sources from the press and legislative documents, is that despite the existence of a favorable scenario for the construction of laws that guaranteed certain rights to salaried urban workers, the domestic workers were placed on the sidelines of this process, being excluded from social legislation. As a result, domestic service continued to be the target of its own regulation, characterized by policies of social control, of a police and sanitary nature, defended since the end of the 19th century, especially in the then capital of the country, the city of Rio de Janeiro, but whose principles and justifications were, from the 1930s on, redefined as a result of the consolidation of capitalism in Brazil. This Works analyzes the economic foundation that motivated the presentation of a new Project of labor reform during the government of Argentinean President Mauricio Macri. For that, the article employs a historical perspective through the reconstruction of the transformations suffered by the labor legislation, specifically by the working contract law, which is the one that rules almost all of the labor agreement. The article also tackles the evolution of the labor relationships in the last decade and the initiatives of Argentinean entrepreneurship of achieving more favorable conditions for more flexible use of the workforce. The analysis shows that the labor reform is part of a mid-term strategy for improving the conditions for capital accumulation in Argentina, including an increase in the exploitation of the workforce. The methodology employed is based not only on the qualitative analysis of the legislation sources but also quantitative analysis of the national and worldwide statistical information. Several types of sources are used for that, such as labor legislation, agreements and covenants of different historical periods, national and international statistic series, and contributions made by other authors. It was concluded that the legislation is very brief regarding this practice. Based on the metadata detected from various investigations, the level of physical activity of the workers was compared as before and after the application of the active pause, finding affected differences between the two moments. This article aims to analyze FOCh political position in presentation of Labor Code project to National Congress, a Liberal Alliance initiative. Between 1920 and 1922, FOCh considered social legislation as a point of support for workers to negotiate their demands in a better conditions with their employers. Trade union center, through its "federated deputies", attempted to approved and to dispatch the Labor Code bill, participating from inside of Congressional Social Legislation Permanent Committee. However, the opposition and no concurrency of oligarchic deputies within the Commission, blocked the bill discussion. This article has the objective to analyze the historical experience of the Chilean workers organized in the FOCh in their struggle to defend right of association and strike during the situation of terminal crisis of the oligarchic liberal State. From 1921 to 1924, the employers' organizations made a strong offensive strategy against the trade unions. In this way, the FOCh resisted with strikes demanding right of association, collective bargaining, right to strike and freedom of press in a time when a modern system of labor relationships regulated by a labor legislation didn't exist. The struggle of recognize this democratic rights doesn't amount a loss of political autonomy facing the State. On the contrary, this contributed to fortify the federated workers trade union. The author describes the belligerent labor movement at La Magdalena textile factory from the end of the Porfiriato years until the first third of the twentieth century. He demonstrates its effect on production capacity and how institutional advancements in the workforce involving the government, entrepreneurs, and workers were not incentives to the technological transformation of factories but lead to higher operational costs. This occurrence along with the emergence of synthetic fibers substituting cotton led to the imminent closure of many textile factories from the Porfiriato years until the second half of the past century.
