This paper examines the thought of Pope Francis on the nature of the university and its mission as expressed in Veritatis gaudium and proposes a reading of Fides et ratio and Lumen fidei in its light. The starting point is the situation of the university in the liquid modernity as described by Bauman, whose reflections partly inspire Francis’ sociological analyses. According to the Pope, the university must contribute to the rooting of persons by building a true community of study and research. This requires a science free from the temptation of sophistry (a form of domination) and inspired by concern for the other: friendship is thus the context in which the rationality proper to a new humanism can develop. This article examines the silence in Ignatius of Antioquia and its possible Gnostic influence. In order to do so, it has been divided into three parts. In the first place, the Ignatian texts on silence are analyzed, extracting the theology from them. Next, his Gnostic influence is evaluated, considering other possible origins. Finally, its theological evolution among pre-nicene Asian authors is studied. In this way, without ruling out the influence of an incipient Gnosticism and in a historical period where theological groups still do not have a defined identity, mutual influences would be occurring, creating a syncretism that would explain the connections between Gnostics and Ecclesiastics. This article is a theoretical study on the similarities between the Gnostic doctrines, which flourished around the second century of our era, and the aesthetic thought of the Russian painter Vasili Kandinsky. The objective is to analyze these two philosophical and spiritual ideas frameworks to expose their similarities and differences. In this way, it will be investigated if, despite the centuries that separate them and the difference in historical contexts that surround them, there may be common existential and philosophical problems at the origins of both doctrinal statements The study will seek, therefore, to elucidate whether it is possible to understand Kandinsky's aesthetics as a special modern structured gnosis through his conceptual and artistic approaches. The results of the research aim not only at shedding light on Kandinsky's originality within the history of art, but also to be useful to highlight and understand some important points of the cultural discussion within which his work is framed. Nicolás Gómez Dávila characterizes democratic Modernity as a gnostic age. This article pretends to reconstruct his characterization by way of an intertextual reading of Textos. Gómez Dávila's thesis is derived from a philosophy of history and a philosophical anthropology; both allow him to interpretModernity from a religious perspective. His conclusion is that democratic Modernity bestows human beings unlimited sovereignty, which for him means gnostic divinization. During an age marked by numerous heretical currents and by an as yet incipient development of Mariology, St. Irenaeus of Lyon, with a sure hand, outlined the sound doctrine concerning the role of the Virgin Mary in the economy of Salvation, for which he is considered, to this day, a great authority on the subject. His doctrine in this respect is clear, profound and established on the best theological tradition of that epoch, particularly the Pauline writings and those of St. Ignatius of Antioch. The present article discusses the principal aspects of his Mariological legacy, especially those developed in his work Adversus haereses. Among these stand out the parallelism between Eve and Mary, the obedience of the Mother of God as reparation for the sin of our first parents, the birth of Christ and the consequent annihilation of the serpent, the warfare between the lineage of the Virgin and that of Satan, and the final triumph of Christ, related to the unblemished fidelity of Mary. In the Gnostic movements there are two constants: the dualistic framework (theological, cosmological, and anthropological) and the search for a higher knowledge of the «divine mysteries». The first signs of these movements are clearly documented in the early 2nd century, and their origins are likely to have been in the previous century, perhaps in marginal Christian circles with a marked Jewish identity and more or less extensive knowledge of Greek religious and philosophical traditions (especially Medio-Platonism). This essay examines Paul's epistles in order to see if they contain traces of anti-Gnostic controversies. In particular, we will analyze 2 Cor in which several scholars claim to have discovered a controversy between Paul and Gnostic adversaries. We will prove that the debate found in 2 Cor has no relation to Gnostic dualism, and that the polemic was maintained in a soteriological framework foreign to the Gnostic world. Paul's adversaries were Christians with charismatic pretensions and visionary experiences, influenced by Jewish Apocalypticism and angelological speculations of a Jewish nature. The following essay shows three modalities in the use of irony, as a figure of the speech, that accomplish different functions, negatives as well as positives. Our interest in particular will be in irony as a non-direct way to obtain a certain kind of knowledge that is far from the natural attitude of the speaker. To this end, we work out a critical-historical interpretation of the texts in which three kinds of this type of simulation emerge that, from Socrates onwards, has the methodological purpose of inducing special knowledge. This conference explores the main concepts and the gnoseological perspective assumed in the work of history of the ideas and the political thought, of Professor Rodríguez Iturbe. Its main goal is to make, in the first place, a brief presentation of the main subjects and topics developed in this work, along with the different forms of analyses used by the author. The lecture deals then with the different types of writing history, the distinction between "narration" of events and the "participation" of the historian in this narration, the influence of "ideologies" in some authors, the fallacy of the immanentization of eschatology in which some of them incur, and the Gnostic perspective that this type of histories serves as sustenance. In the final part of the writing, the lecture establishes that the work of Prof. Rodríguez Iturbe has a deep therapeutic sense in comparison to "histories" written by authors like the previous ones, because its vocation to Truth has allowed him to carry out a study without any reductionism, and with a clear sense of unification. It ends with a reference to the virtues of the historian, and the meaning in History, immanent and transcendent, which supports the concepts and developments of the work written by Rodríguez Iturbe.
