- Abstract
Yucatec Maya theory of learning may be thought of as Learning by Observing and Pitching In to family and community endeavours. Children learn everyday and specialized tasks by observing and pitching in. This mode of learning is embedded in children's developmental niche in which parental ethnotheories play the central role. I present results from a study of children's process of learning to become vernacular architects as they participate in building the boxes that make up the bullring for the village fiesta. Ninety-two expert adults were interviewed and direct observations were made during the building process. Results show that children accompany their fathers from an early age and observe and pitch in until they become experts. In order to learn, children need to have the will to like the task. Having the will depends on their destiny. Only those who have the will become responsible experts. Fathers encourage their children to accompany them to help their will to emerge. The developmental niche is organized to incorporate children into the building process to learn by observing and contributing. [Translation from English by Mercè Rius.]

- Abstract
Until recently, fathers were the hidden parents in research on children's well-being. Research stimulated by the new interest in fathers suggests that fathers' involvement in their children's schools does make a difference in their children's education. Using data from the 1996 National Household Education Survey (NHES:96), this Digest looks at the extent of father involvement in two-parent and in single-parent families, explores the types of involvement, and discusses the link between fathers' involvement and kindergartners' through 12th-graders' school performance. Findings noted include the following: (1) fathers in two-parent families are less likely than mothers in two-parent families to be highly involved in their children's schools; (2) fathers and mothers who head single-parent families are virtually identical in their level of involvement, and it is quite similar to that of mothers in two-parent families; (3) fathers in two-parent families are more likely to attend school or class events or general school meetings than they are to attend parent-teacher conferences or to volunteer at their children's schools. Findings also indicated that in two-parent households, children are more likely to do well academically, to participate in extracurricular activities, and to enjoy school and are less likely to have ever repeated a grade or to have been suspended or expelled if their fathers have high as opposed to low involvement in their schools. This finding was also true in father-only households, allowing that children living in single-parent households are, on average, less successful in school and experience more behavior problems than children living in two-parent households. The Digest concludes by noting that the low participation of fathers in two-parent families offers schools an opportunity to increase overall parental involvement by targeting fathers, and that fathers can be a positive force in their children's education. COLLECTIVE memory , *VOICE analysis , *EXILE (Punishment) , *COUNTRY of origin (Immigrants) , *CARTOGRAPHY , *ORIGIN of life , *FATHERS , *DAUGHTERS - Abstract
This article analyzes the experience of childhood exile during the last Argentine dictatorship through two works by Laura Alcoba: "El azul de las abejas" (2014) and "La danza de la araña" (2018). These works allow for the analysis of the voice of the exiled woman and also that of her childhood, establishing a direct connection with Argentina's dictatorial past and the Southern Cone. The importance of representing childhood exile and how it is narrated after decades of silence through the learning of a foreign language in a distant country is highlighted. The text analyzes the use of autofiction in second-generation authors, relating it to the experience of being daughters of the disappeared during the dictatorship in Argentina. These authors use autofiction as a constant search for their origins and affiliations. The narrativization of the experience is presented as a link between testimonies and other discursive forms. Additionally, the "generational turn" is highlighted in which daughters reconfigure their own subjectivity through their narratives. On the other hand, the theme of exile and childhood is addressed in the works of Laura Alcoba, who narrates her experience as the daughter of Montoneros militants exiled in France. These works allow for reflection on exile as a form of "eradication of the subversive enemy" and the absence of exile narratives by women in the Western canon. The text analyzes the experience of childhood exile in two works by Laura Alcoba, "El azul" and "La danza". The importance of remnants from the protagonist's country of origin in her life is highlighted, such as her detained father's letters and her friend Amalia's stories. The narrator's overadaptation and agency in the midst of circumstances are mentioned. The impact of exile on identity and the construction of one's own memory is also addressed. The text discusses the experience of childhood exile in two works by Laura Alcoba. The concept of a "revolutionary family" is mentioned, referring to families whose ties are linked to political militancy. The communal life that occurred among the exiles and the importance of narration to shape and give meaning to the experience and recreate the past are highlighted. The displacement and "linguistic exile" that involves adapting to a new country and language are also mentioned. Finally, the importance of letters as objects that allow for the reconstruction of history and the presence of the absent is emphasized. The article analyzes the importance of letters as supports for memory and the material survival of exile. The possibility of configuring a "nomadic subjectivity" based on these remnants is highlighted, allowing for the delineation of new maps and cartographies of discontinuous times for surviving daughters. It is concluded that the works of the daughters emerge thanks to certain social and state political conditions that enable a listening and reception that did not exist before. These memorial narratives stand as another form of the political and contribute to the idea of collective memory. [Extracted from the article]

The exposure of minors on social media by influencer mothers and fathers is becoming an increasingly common practice, especially on Instagram. Sharenting (a combination of "share" and "parenting"), understood as the sharing of information and photos of children on social media, raises numerous ethical, legal, and advertising-related questions. The digital footprint of minors and its potential effects are intertwined with the practice of influencer parents who use their children's images to promote brands and products. The objective of this study is to contribute to the research on sharenting in connection with influencer marketing, specifically focusing on mothers and fathers who use their children to create advertising content. The study aims to verify the presence of brands targeting minors in their parents' posts, analyze the use of minors' rights to image and privacy by their parents, and determine whether it complies with legal spanish advertising regulations. The presence of minors and brands in a sample of 89 influencer mothers and fathers on Instagram is analyzed through content analysis (363 posts from August 20th to September 20th, 2023, and 295 stories). The results indicate an extremely high presence of minors in posts by influencer mothers and fathers, and they often serve as vehicles for brands (with 96.71% of mothers' posts featuring brands), although fewer than 15% of these are identified as advertisements. The conclusions highlight the misuse of minors' images and privacy on Instagram by their influencer parents for advertising purposes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Anselm, known as Doctor magnificus and father of Scholastics, reached his peak in Monologium and Proslogion, where he provides an original perspective for treating faith by giving evidence of the existence and nature of God. The aim of this paper is examining the "knowledge and love" binomial, starting from Anselmian argumentation that allows our thinking of man, whose understanding and intelligence are relevant, though not the only faculties. To do this, three issues are developed along the philosophical and theological path which, firstly, goes deeper into understanding knowledge and reason. Secondly, it addresses the understanding of faith and, finally, coinvolve intelligence and heart. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ASSERTIVENESS (Psychology) , *CONFIRMATORY factor analysis , *PARENT-teenager relationships , *FAMILY relations , *SOCIAL skills , *SPANIARDS , *FATHERS - Abstract
Adolescence is traditionally understood as a developmental stage that challenges family dynamics and coexistence. At present, such challenges may be heightened due to current social and technological challenges. Effective assessment of parental competences for addressing such challenges is desirable to support, were needed, the introduction of further intervention measures, such as parenting programs. The aim of the present study was to validate the Emotional and Social Parenting Competence Scale for Parents of Adolescents (ECOPES-A), given the importance of having up-to-date instruments available to address this issue. A random sample of 1,422 Spanish parents of teenagers participated in the present study. Exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) were performed following a cross-validation process. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) was applied to test the model's factorial invariance as a function of the sex of parents. Twelve items explaining 46.26% of the variance were selected. Items were distributed according to four factors, namely, F1-Self-Regulation, F2- Assertiveness and self-esteem in the parenting role, F3--Power assertion for conflict resolution, and F4--Promotion of child's selfesteem through assertive communication. Adequate reliability was determined for all factors and for the overall scale. The model presented good fit, regardless of the sex of the parent respondent, and MGCFA revealed strict factorial invariance suggesting that the tool is appropriate for both fathers and mothers. The scale may be useful for identifying parental support needs and for evaluating evidence-based parenting programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MEAN length of utterance , *FATHER-child relationship , *LINGUISTIC complexity , *CHILDREN'S language , *MOTHERS - Abstract
The linguistic environment in which children grow up is an important predictor of their cognitive abilities and later language skills. However, we know little about the characteristics of the input that children receive in their homes, even less about the differential contribution of maternal and paternal input to the linguistic production of their children. Using transcripts of 10-minute semi-structured free play interactions between mothers/fathers and their children, the quantity (utterances and questions) and quality (types) as well as the Mean Length of Utterances (MLU) of the linguistic input from 115 mothers and fathers and their 3-year-old children were analyzed. The results indicated significant differences in input quality, in favor of the mother. The MLU of mothers/fathers was the only aspect of parental input associated with the linguistic production of children. No differences were found in input based on the gender of the parents. These findings support the importance for children's expressive language at the age three of being exposed to quality language rather than just quantity, from mothers and fathers. The findings of this study in a Chilean sample contribute, on the one hand, to the comparative body of knowledge regarding the variability of linguistic input that children are exposed to early on, and on the other hand, highlight the need for interventions so that, especially during the first years of life, children are exposed to interactions rich in linguistic complexity from both mothers and fathers. Several of the school affairs, along with those in other areas, of minors are altered by the parents’ work environment, limiting the possibilities of attention, especially in the case of schoolwork, normally carried out at home. This descriptive-inferential, transversal and quantitative research has the objective of identifying, from parental perception, the influence of the work situation on the follow-up of school tasks. There is a sample of 1,787 Spanish families with sons and daughters in early childhood, primary and secondary education who have participated by completing an ad hoc questionnaire from which descriptive and inferential data were extracted through the Kruskal-Wallis parameter and Cohen’s d. The results indicate significant differences in the difficulty of schoolwork in both genders, father and mother, in favor of those who are full-time; the improvement of family relationships as a benefit, academic inability as an obstacle and an increase in positive effects after the pandemic stand out as aspects most identified by parents who are unemployed. Therefore, the need to reconvert labor policies not only in favor of economic activity but also of family life is evid. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article studies the experiences of schooling during the pandemic in Argentina and identifies the relationship between digital technologies and inequalities. We present quantitative and qualitative results of two research projects that inquired about the daily life of families in Argentina based on the analysis of access to technological devices and the forms of pedagogical accompaniment and the development - or not - of the necessary skills. Among the most relevant results we find that the socioeconomic level and the social, cultural and educational trajectories of the adults in charge were crucial factors when evaluating the ways in which the period without face-to-face classes was traversed. Added to this, the conditions of access to digital technologies, the virtual education dynamics proposed by the institutions, and the digital skills that mothers and fathers possessed, or were able to develop, resulted in different and unequal schooling experiences during the pandemic. Gender violence is a phenomenon that is reproduced in several areas, one of which is the family system. The objective of the research was to analyze the reproduction of gender violence in the family system by comparing variables between the urban and rural population, year 2023. It had a quantitative approach of a cross-sectional type, descriptiveexplanatory scope, a questionnaire was applied on patterns of reproduction of gender violence to 140 fathers / mothers of family and the scale of attitudes towards gender violence to 153 teenagers. It was found that attitudes towards gender violence in the adolescent population is neutral on the subject. It was evidenced that there are minimal differences in the urban and rural context; being the stereotyped roles, the mandates of domesticity and maintaining the image of the ideal family the most subtle forms of reproduction of violence. The book "José, Soldiers and Fathers. Of War, Memory and Poetry" by José Jurado Morales analyzes the Francoist repression during the Spanish Civil War and its impact on different aspects of society. The author uses literature as a means of research, focusing on the work of poets who explore the perception of their parents during the war. The text highlights the importance of historical narration in understanding the war experience and mentions cases of ideological affinity and contempt for betrayal between parents and children. Despite the differences, there is usually a moment of reconciliation and understanding in old age. [Extracted from the article]
