Introduction: Analyze the association between the search for information on obesity, diet, and occupational health and safety through Google, and scientific production on these topics to determine whether the population’s interest is related to the research activity. Method: Data were obtained from direct, online consultation of Google Trends (GT) with the terms obesity, diet and occupational health and safety and from MEDLINE (via PubMed), using the Medical Subject Headings “Obesity”, “Diet, Food, and Nutrition” and “Occupational Health”. The variables studied were: relative search volume (RSV), average monthly RSV (RSVa), references (REF), relative reference volume (RRV) and Variability. Results: The trends obtained (RSVa) in GT were decreasing in the three cases: obesity (R2=0.33; p=0.009), diet (R2=0.68; p<0.001); occupational health (R2=0.41; p=0,002). For the RRVs obtained from MEDLINE, were increasing for obesity and diet (R2=0.85; p<0.001 and R2=0.85; p<0.001); for occupational health the trend was non-significant (R2=0.03; p=0.509). The variability obtained for the RRV versus the RSVa (value equal to 100) gave: obesity -18.71, diet -1.18 and occupational health 63.65. Conclusions: There was a growing interest of the scientific community, measured by its production, in obesity, diet and occupational health, while the population’s interest in these topics was decreasing throughout the period studied, so the relationship between scientific production and searches was inverse. On the other hand, it was possible to observe a notorious lack of interest, from the population and researchers, in the importance of the workplace as a vector for the prevention and treatment of obesity. Introduction. Etymologically the word ileus comes from the Greek eileos, which means rolling or turning. It is described as the temporary delay of gastrointestinal motility. It is recognized worldwide that postoperative ileus is one of the main complications after surgery and represents an important problem due to its high healthcare cost. Research has been done regarding the preventive use of physical and pharmacological measures, such as prokinetics, for the management of postoperative ileus. Methods. Clinical-therapeutic, comparative, prospective longitudinal follow-up research, with non-probabilistic convenience sampling, made up of four groups with 25 patients each, treated in the General Surgery Service between May and August 2021. Results. The patients had a mean age of 49.4 ± 19.6 years and 53% were male; 86% of patients had bowel sounds within 24 hours after the operation. The first bowel movement in patients who ingested espresso coffee was 42.6 hours and for those in the American coffee group it was at 43.4 hours compared to 89.4 hours in the control group (p < 0.001). Conclusion. The use of coffee is recommended as a safe and economical measure to start the diet as an alternative to the traditional fashion, becoming an option for the management of postoperative ileus. Background: Lifestyle changes in adolescents are characterized by a poor diet which means rich in fat and cholesterol, and it is associated with the development of dyslipidemia, which is considered one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease in adulthood. Objective: To identify the association between risk eating habits and the presence of dyslipidaemia in adolescents at the primary health care level. Material and methods: Cross-sectional, analytical, and retrospective study, which included adolescents aged 10-17 years. Dyslipidemia was assessed by capillary blood sample (total cholesterol = 200 mg/dL). To assess risk eating habits for dyslipidemia, the Risk Food Consumption Frequency Survey for Dyslipidemias (EFCARD) was used. Nutritional status, central obesity, and acanthosis nigricans were evaluated. Results: Two thousand participants were included in the study, the prevalence of obesity was 16% and dyslipidaemia was 11%, risk eating habits for dyslipidemia is present in 29% of the studied population. In multivariate analysis, inappropriate eating habits were associated with dyslipidemia, OR: 3.6 (CI 95%: 1.2-7.5). Obesity increased the risk, OR: 3.9 (CI 95%: 1.07-14.7), and the acanthosis nigricans with OR: 2.5 (CI95%: 0.8-8.3). Conclusions: Obesity and risk eating habits with high consumption of saturated fats, cholesterol and sugars were associated with dyslipidemia in adolescent population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the present work, regression equations were generated to estimate wet weight from total length and also to estimate wet weight and total length from skull and pectoral girdle bones length of Odontesthes nigricans. All regressions were statistically significant. No significant differences were found in the wet weight-total length relationship between males and females, showing a positive allometric growth between wet weight and total length. The equations obtained are a tool for research in trophic ecology, allowing a broader evaluation of the role of the lagoon silverside in the diet of piscivorous predators. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The relationship between diet and sleep has been studied in adults. However, there is little evidence in the pediatric population. The objective of this review was to analyze in a narrative way the relationship between diet, some nutritional aspects and sleep quality in population under 14 years. A quick review was performed in MEDLINE (PubMed) and Cochrane with a search strategy combining MeSH terms and keywords. Studies were selected to estimate diet and evaluate nutritional status and sleep in children using different tools. The risk of bias from the 14 selected studies was determined with validated tools (AMSTAR 2, Newcastle Ottawa scale [NOS] and Risk of Bias [Rob2]). Adherence to some dietary patterns such as the Mediterranean, high consumption of fruits and vegetables, tryptophan intake or substitution of saturated fatty acids by unsaturated fats were associated with better sleep quality. The consumption of ultra-processed products, the "unhealthy fast food" or the high intake of simple sugars hinder an adequate rest. On the other hand, an association between a high body mass index and lack of sleep was observed in young people under 14. In conclusion, the collected studies showed a significant association between some dietary patterns, food groups and nutrients with sleep quality. "Unhealthy" dietary factors were associated with poorer sleep quality. However, healthier and recommended habits and diets were associated with improved sleep hygiene. Introduction. In the population diagnosed with cancer, challenges arise for their adequate nutrition, especially during treatment and in the later stages. Thus, identifying the nutritional knowledge, attitudes and practices of children and their parents during illness and treatment is very useful for proposing solutions to difficulties in feeding that may arise. Objective. Identify knowledge, attitudes and practices related to food by parents, caregivers and children with cancer in two foster homes located in Bogotá, Colombia. Methodology. For this, focus groups were carried out in which specialists, parents and children participated; in addition, the questionnaire designed and validated by the Food and Nutrition Organization of the United Nations was adjusted and applied for the evaluation of knowledge, attitudes and practices in nutrition, later the data were analyzed with a software (NVivo). Results. It was found that children and guardians recognize and practice good habits for nutritional status, although for a third of them it may be difficult to comply with some of them, either due to lack of knowledge, economic condition, myths or beliefs. Conclusion. Information, education and communication interventions are required along with strategies that allow healthy eating and overcoming challenges and symptoms during illness and treatment, especially in the outpatient stage or when being discharged and returning to their homes. Objective: to explore how local food practices related to barbacoa production reflect dynamics between deep-rooted cultural heritage and contemporary factors. Methodology: study with quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyze the food practices of barbacoa-producing families. Participants' nutritional status and diet were assessed. Semi-structured interviews, direct observations and geocoding were used. The study followed bioethical standards in all procedures. Results: Urbanization has transformed the food landscape, reflecting an increasing availability of processed foods, while the sale and consumption of barbacoa are central elements of local identity and economy. Limitations: The findings are not generalizable to other areas with different food and health social determinants. The environment and food landscape of barbecue production, sale and consumption in Capulhuac are a local frame of reference. In dietary analysis the underreporting of sodium consumption was highly probable. Conclusions: in Capulhuac, traditional food practices reflect an identity rooted in rural history yet face contemporary influences toward unhealthy eating. Barbacoa production is economically important but there is a need to promote a balanced diet. The food environment is complex and reflects external influences and local traditions, so it is crucial to consider both the biological and the qualitative in nutritional epidemiological research. Objective: Analyze the mechanisms deployed by the State to establish its institutionalizing intervention on the diets of the populations through the School Breakfast program in Mexico. Approach: Institutions are inserted in the analysis of power through dispositives from the perspective of governmentality. The exercise of power through feeding programs requires discourses focused on the correct diet, the participation of expert agents, the constitution of subjects of assistance and, simultaneously, the freedom and desire of the subjects of government. Methodological approach: The theoretical perspective of governmentality of Michel Foucault and the neoinstitutionalist current is taken up, to analyze the power mechanisms that enable the exercise of government, and enable the governmental capacity to institutionalize biological and food processes through the implementation of food programs. Conclusions: The School Breakfast program establishes power games between the various participating actors. Knowledge of hospital food in modern-age hospitals in Spain is based on documentation from very few centers, mostly in large cities, and new contributions are needed to expand the existing evidence. To this end, the documentation of the Santiago de Vitoria hospital has been analysed, a hospital and a city more representative of the peninsular median. An unequivocal economic focus has been found in the documentation on foodstuffs, and the record of their acquisition only includes extraordinary expenses, mainly foodstuffs destined for the apothecary's shop (80% of the entries). The basal diet is only known to us by its theoretical description, and its expenditure is recorded by number of portions or their fraction. There is evidence of triple supervision in its preparation and administration, as well as careful medical prescription of the food in the individualised diets. In conclusion, the expenditures do not show the actual consumption, nor do they represent the real diet, since the vast majority of the food items recorded were destined for the pharmacy and not for the feeding of the sick. It must be asked whether previous studies, which also use expenditure data, have not misinterpreted these data by wrongly extrapolating a magnificent diet when, in the case of Vitoria, it was made up of the working classes. Introduction: nutritional epidemiology seeks to understand the relationship between food consumption and the occurrence of diseases. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) used a reduced Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to compare diet quality between cohort stages. Objective: to develop and validate an index created using a food quality score (FQS) using the FFQ of ELSA-Brasil. Methods: a cross-sectional study carried out between August 2020 and March 2021 with 4262 participants. For each frequency of consumption of healthy and unhealthy food markers, a score was given. Validity and reliability were tested using Pearson's correlation, principal component analysis (PCA) and Cronbach's alpha. Tests were performed to verify differences between individual characteristics and FQS. Results: the PCA indicated a total variability of 42.5 %. Women and individuals with higher age, physical activity and per capita income had a higher FQS, while those who reported higher consumption of alcohol and being smokers had a lower score. Cronbach's alpha was 0.47. Conclusion: the FQS showed a satisfactory validity and reliability and was associated with socioeconomic and lifestyle data. Background: a healthy food intake pattern, specifically the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet), is a factor associated with reduced risk, lower prevalence, and better management of chronic diseases. However, there is limited information regarding how patients integrate proposals for adherence to this food pattern in their daily lives. Objective: to identify factors and conditions that influence adherence to the MedDiet in Chile. Methods: an exploratory qualitative study was applied in 35 to 65-year-old patients of both sexes who presented at least one diagnostic criterion of metabolic syndrome (MetS). Through in-depth interviews and focal groups, knowledge, assessment, attitudes, and practices associated with changes and maintenance of healthy eating habits, with emphasis on the MedDiet, were investigated. Information analysis was carried out under the grounded theory approach using the ATLAS.ti software. Results: participants recognized the value of healthy eating, including the MedDiet, but declared low knowledge (identification of single foods items) together with facilitators (variety of ingredients) and limiting factors (taste, availability/cost of some items, family dynamics) for its routine adoption. In addition, change in eating habits generates a high initial cognitive and emotional load that requires not only individual but also relational effort as it implies modifications of family and collective practices. Conclusions: information obtained on barriers and opportunities to adhere to healthy eating such as the MedDiet is key to design and implement nutritional interventions based on this food pattern and that can be sustainable in time for chronic disease management in Chile. Introduction: eating behaviors may modulate or influence diet quality and the degree of adherence to the Mediterranean diet in children and adolescents. Aims: to investigate the association between diet quality and eating behavior in a group of Spanish schoolchildren. Methods: descriptive cross-sectional study of 283 Spain schoolchildren aged six to 16. Each subject was assessed using the KIDMED questionnaire for adherence to the Mediterranean diet and the Children's Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (CEBQ) questionnaire to assess eating behavior. Results: of the sample, 12.80 % had low adherence to the Mediterranean diet, 59.80 % had poor adherence, 59.80 % could be improved, and 27.40 % had high adherence. When relating eating behavior to dietary quality, it was found that, generally, schoolchildren with greater enjoyment of food and less demand for food have double the adherence to the Mediterranean diet due to almost twice the consumption of vegetables, nuts, and fish, and a lower intake of low-quality processed foods (sweets). The response to satiety and the speed of ingestion also played an important role in food choices. Conclusions: eating behaviors may play an essential role in the quality of school children's diets highlighting the enjoyment and acceptance or rejection of food. Given the bidirectional nature of the effects between eating behaviors and diet quality, the joint analysis may be the basis for future research with the aim of a better nutritional approach from the earliest ages. the unbalanced diet affects the environment through agriculture, as a high greenhouse gas (GHG) emitting sector that uses 70% of the world's water reserves. In addition, there is an inequality in the distribution and use of this resource that increased during the coronavirus confinement. The objective of this research was to identify changes in diet and water care in central Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic. An increase in the consumption of vegetables (71.7%) and fruits (64.9%) was found. In water care at home, attention to leaks (58.4%) and regulation of shower time (54.5%) showed an increase. Likewise, groups characterized by actions aimed at an adequate and less polluting diet, better water care and the perception of benefits in the participation of environmental care were also identified. The weekly CO2 emission of the diet allowed us to identify characteristics of food consumption during pandemics and a participation towards improving the ecosystem. This provides the basis to propose strategies that start from the activities carried out by people or that promote a greater incidence of these activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A high percentage of the population suffers from anxiety, a disorder that can be influenced by dietary habits. The aim of this review was to compile the existing evidence on dietary patterns and factors, and their association with anxiety to propose clinically applicable recommendations. A scoping review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses was conducted in the MEDLINE database (PubMed) until January 2021, reporting the main findings based on PRISMA (2020). To construct the search strategy, MeSH language, keywords (“diet”, “nutrients”, “healthy lifestyle”, “anxiety”) and filters were used, combined using Boolean operators. Twelve articles, seven systematic reviews with meta-analysis and five systematic reviews were selected. Several results were obtained evaluating the relationship between anxiety and different aspects of diet. The main associations found were between increased consumption of raw vegetables and fruits, substitution of refined cereals by whole grains, intake of omega-3 and omega-6 fats, and increased intake of minerals and vitamins, tryptophan and antioxidants. Based on the systematic reviews and meta-analyses included as findings, ten recommendations on food consumption that should be considered as a priority for these patients were proposed. Based on the literature reviewed, it is concluded that there are dietary patterns and factors that could have a stronger positive influence on anxiety. In the different agricultural productions, food is managed, with supplements such as free grazing. Concentrated feeds offer nutritional needs 365 days a year, and this would not be achieved if the feed depended only on pastures. The objective was to determine the in situ ruminal kinetics and degradability of forage maize silage and green banana residue in different proportions in a base diet. The treatments were T1, corn silage 50% RB 0%; T2 corn silage 45% RB 5%; T3 corn silage 40% RB 10%; T4 corn silage 35% RB 15% and T5 corn silage 30% RB 20%. A DBCA was applied with five treatments and four repetitions for the differences in means, Tukey was used (P>0.05). The material to be ensiled was collected at 90 days of age (Vegetative Stage V8). Green banana residues, rice powder, soybean paste and mineral salts were used. The anaerobic fermentation process lasted 30 days, the samples were dried in a forced air oven at 65°C for 48 hours, and ground in a Thomas Willy mill with a 2 mm sieve. It was dried in an oven at 65 °C for 48 h. For DISMS and DISMO, a nylon bag was used in four castrated and rumen fistulated cattle. For each run, seven nylon bags 10 x 21 cm and 53 mm pore size were used, with 10 g of ground sample, with 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours. The in situ digestibility of DM and OM increased with 20% inclusion of this residue with an effective degradation of 57.23 and 57.05% in a passage rate (k 0.02). The in situ ruminal degradability parameters of the dry and organic matter of forage maize silage with green banana residues, is a viable alternative using 20% due to the dynamics of ruminal degradation of DM and OM. Background: Forage and feedstuff technologies with additives contributed to more efficient nutrition of herbivores. Aim. To evaluate the microbial content of feces from covies fed with forages and feedstuffs containing various levels of oregano. Materials and methods: This paper comprised two studies, one on El Romeral Farm, Guachapala Canton, the University of Cuenca, located on S 2o45'54", W 78o42'58", 2 254 m above sea level; and another at Molihers food processing factory, in Ochoa Leon, on S 2o49'48", W 78o59'12", 2 600 m above sea level. The control (T1) consisted of feeds for covies (Molihers); the other treatment (T2) was based on Phytogenics, at a rate of 2 kg/ton. Treatment 3 (T3), used phytogenics (3 kg/ton); whereas treatment 4 (T4) contained phytogenics (5 kg/ton). all the treatments contained 13.5% protein. A completely randomized experimental design was used, along with one-way ANOVA. The microbiological composition of feces was measured. Results: The fecal bacterial burden was reduced (P <0.05) using oregano, in comparison to the control. Conclusions: The nutrition of covies using alfalfa and feeds containing phytogenic additives such as oregano at 3 and 4 kg/t doses of the feed proved effective, the bacterial and parasitic counts in the feces were reduced due to the organic principles in the oregano supplemented. Objective: Abstract: "Kosher" is a word used to illustrate the food laws of Jewish people. It's a traditional Jewish law for food. For Jews, it's more than food consumption with safety. It's regarding religious beliefs and traditions. Jews follow proper guidelines of Kosher and give the compulsion to food to be reckoned Kosher. The English word "Kosher" is derived from the Hebrew root "Kasher", which means to be pure, proper, or suitable for consumption. Kashrut is a charter that renders the foundation for kosher dietetic rule and is established inside 'Torah' which is a Jewish sacred book. Kosher dietetic rules are including all and produce a strict structure of rules and regulations which gives a sketch of foods allowed or prohibited. It also determines how foods allowed should be made, refined, and fixed before eating. The paper illustrates kosher law and food among American-Jewish people and their determination towards their religious beliefs in American land, which is not their motherland, with analysis from Philip Roth's novel Indignation. Objective: To analyze the dietary pattern and deficiency risk in the usual energy and nutrient intake of pregnant and lactating women from some indigenous peoples. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive study, with information from the dietary intake component taken from the National Survey of the food and nutritional situation of indigenous peoples in Colombia, conducted between 2013 and 2019, which included 1,028 pregnant (319) and lactating (709) indigenous women from the northern and southern regions of the country. Results: A proportion higher than 90% (SD = 0.04) of pregnant and lactating women with lower than recommended calorie intake was found (p = 0.038). Around 70% of pregnant and lactating women had no any dairy products the day before the survey, and 50% did not eat fruits and vegetables. Regarding micronutrients, high prevalence of deficiency risk in the intake of vitamin C (50.3 and 80.2%), folate (80.4 and 95.1%), zinc (87.6 and 96.3%), iron (88.9 and 68.6%) and calcium (87.5 and 98.5%) was found in pregnant and lactating women. Conclusion: Food and nutrient intake in pregnant and lactating indigenous women is deficient in key nutrients to maintain their general health and provide the necessary nutrients to their babies. Initially known for its deleterious health effects, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has recently been recognized as a biologically important gas carrier, like nitric oxide and carbon monoxide. H2S is produced endogenously in mammalian cells by enzymatic and non-enzymatic pathways. when it is produced by the enzymatic pathway, its synthesis is carried out from the amino acid L-cysteine through the transsulfuration pathway. It can also be produced endogenously from exogenous compounds that function as H2S donors as, for example, the naturally occurring organic donors found in some plants. Currently, the role of H2S is well known as brain and cardiac protector, and its research as a therapeutic adjuvant in metabolic diseases such as obesity and type-2 diabetes is becoming increasingly important. The present study validates growth models based on logistic equations to predict and analyze the use of fish viscera hydrolysates as a source of protein for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) diet. The study examines zootechnical variables such as body weight, total length, and biomass in the fingerling and rearing phases, during seven months of production. The treatments consist of isoproteic and isoenergetic diets with a content of 10%, 15%, and 20% of viscera hydrolysates. A commercial diet is used as a control. The results show that the logistic model explained more than 97% of the variation of the field data, proving to be adequate for assessing the efficiency of using 20% replacement hydrolyzed fish viscera. It is concluded that the logistic model developed here is a useful tool for diagnosing the effectiveness and quality of biological diets in each of the production phases of rainbow trout. The settlement process of the south-central Western Pampa shows weak and scattered signs during the Early Holocene, a greater human incidence during the Middle Holocene and a progressive colonization process from the initial Late Holocene, around 4000-3000 years BP. The bioarchaeological record has been one of the clearest indicators of this process. In this paper we present the osteobiography of a burial called CLV3, recovered in Cerro de Los Viejos Archaeological Locality (SE of La Pampa province), which has a date of 3410±20 years BP. It is an adult male individual who was in good health. His lifestyle involved moderate mechanical stress and the intensive use of the masticatory apparatus. He had a local residence, a terrestrial diet, and shows circular cranial deformation. The characteristics of CLV3 reflect social and cultural patterns observed at the macro-regional scale.
