We belong to a time when everything is questionable, and the truth seems threatened. Gramsci's admonition is fulfilled: "The old is dying and the new cannot be born; in this interregnum a great variety of morbid symptoms appear." The pragmatism of our time prefers useful lies to the moral value of truth, manipulating emotions that the public is not capable of detecting or does not have the time to value. "We live in a world in which the highest function of a character is to allow the reality to disappear, and at the same time, to mask the disappearance at that." To define this type of "farce," the term post-truth is used, which is presented as an interpretable truth that is not due to demonstrable facts, and as just another consumer product, an apparent truth to the liking of postmodern man. In the post-truth era, schools must help students discern the information they receive from the media and learn to look for evidence of the truth. Given the broad access to digital media available to students, these assessment skills are more necessary today than ever. We already have forty years of experience in Latin America in the application of anthropology and forensic archaeology to the search for missing persons and investigations of gross violations of human rights and international humanitarian law. Despite this long trajectory of very important work, the most striking protagonists of meta-analysis in the forensic work literature and its impact in recent years have not been the forensic scientists themselves, but social scientists. This article introduces the dossier "Forensic Practices and Mass Violence: Contemporary Perspectives and Research Challenges," a work that brings together practitioners --including relatives of the missing-- with academic researchers, breaking down a structural, social and artificial divide. The joining of forces between academics and practitioners better reflects the work as a whole that includes and highlights the goals concerning search, recovery, analysis, and identification, but also those concerning restitution. This introduction emphasizes debates that are absent in many forensic science journals: the impact of politics on research and the political product of research, although we still have debates about questions of objectivity, neutrality, and the value of a family-driven or family-involved approach. In this dossier, we examine the adaptation and evolution of the discipline from its particular Latin American form, both in the different expressions it has taken in the region and in the way it has been expressed in the work of Latin American professionals in foreign cases such as that of the former Yugoslavia. The aim of this article was to review the relationship between narrative and information inside the Commission for the Clarification of Truth, Coexistence and Non-Repetition (CEV, from its Spanish acronym). In addition, this article examines the implications of the use of narrative to build truth, specifically the truth that the CEV is seeking, and elucidate the approach of truth in which it is situated. For these purposes, we analyze the method used by the CEV to collect testimonies and upload those to the Mission Information System (SIM, from its Spanish acronym). In this paper, we identify the SIM's scope and limits, and discuss the Commission's statements about the characteristics of its final report in light of the use of information and the narrative strategy to build truth. We concluded that the relationship between the categories of narrative and information reflects the epistemological problems inherent to the social sciences regarding the tension between objectivity and subjectivity. Furthermore, the validity of the CEV's elaborations will depend on the rigor of contrasting different versions and sources, rather than the amount of information it collects. Likewise, we highlight the relevance of the role that SIM played in opening up to new technical and methodological tools for uncovering the truth and monitoring human rights in Colombia, and the rest of the world. The advances in biotechnology and the fascinating perspectives of nutritional genomics in clinical practice have led to considering various aspects that impact the comprehensive benefit of the human being. Integrating personalized nutrition in clinical care requires a bioethical analysis focused on the person who, based on their unique nutrigenetic profile, contributes to health care through individualized nutritional treatment. The paper establishes a difference between a general form in which the question is usually referred to and something that will be called an analytical question. The latter is understood as the interrogation form of a psychoanalysis. In Colombia, during the most prolonged armed conflict in the Western Hemisphere, members of the Colombian National Army were executed through insulting practices ("executions" in insurgent terms) by groups outside the law, taking advantage of special circumstances such as helplessness, surprise or administrative situations, --e. g. allowances, breaks or transfers--. That criminal behaviour, which has been defined as a "pistol plan" (Plan Pistola), could constitute, in accordance with the international precedent and internal developments, crimes against humanity in the form of aggravated homicide (murder), by distancing itself from the descriptions of international humanitarian law. Indirect victims of the pistol plan in a transitional justice have the right to know the whole truth about how their relatives were executed, as well as to know from the perpetrators what were the policies and criminal orders in their organized groups for that these serious events happened. This article discusses archaeology within the contexts of the socio-cultural project of modernity and contemporaneity ethical thought. By exploring the relationship between archaeological practice and the project of modernity, one can question whether an archaeologist is able to produce knowledge that avoids both the false promises and inevitable failures of modernity. It is argued that from the dialogue between archaeological epistemology and contemporaneity ethical thought an alternative to the modern project of knowledge of the past may emerge; an understanding that is more focussed on the irreducibility of past vestiges and a recognition of its difference. Through acknowledging the irreducible character of the material vestiges of the past, archaeology becomes a translation practice; a practice aiming to exceed the incommunicability of these vestiges. In this practice of translation, archaeologists come face to face with what is irreducible (or untranslatable); this creates the opportunity to look at the knowledge produced, to reframe that knowledge as a dialogue between their epistemology and their ethics. An epistemology which establishes a construct of rules in which knowledge is measured by its ability to demonstrate truths; and an ethical framework which, by focusing on the irreducible character of the vestiges, discusses the (im)possibilities of demonstrating the truthfulness of knowledge about the past and remembers that the purpose of archaeological knowledge is to do justice to the difference of the past. By focusing on the irreducibility or untranslatable nature of this difference, contemporary ethical thought challenges archaeology to consider the aporias of its translation practice as an integral part of its discourse; as a way of enunciating the difference of the past and as a lasting attempt to create different translation grammars. This paper proposes a reading on the representation and truth in accounting from the discursive theory of Jürgen Habermas, which should enable a better understanding of the communicative nature involved in the disclosure of financial information and the issuance of standards for its dissemination. After a brief review of the philosophical theories of truth, a critical review is made of the observations in this regard by some accounting writers. Thus, the concepts of "pragmatic turn" and "communicative action" are introduced into the accounting information, as a heuristic construct that makes it possible to make a conceptual clarification, necessary for theoretical and practical development. If accounting is considered a communicative action, the idea of it being approached as mere information is undone. The following article shows the way in which classic literature works, also known as canon books, widen the inner life of those who read them. The permanence and extension, both in time and space, that make a book a classic work, spread itself into the reader expanding her own self toward life experiences that go beyond her biographical, social, and cultural boundaries. This text covers the emergence and political action of the UP as well as the systematic extinction of its members during these decades. This political extinction is the result of the political intolerance carried out through plans executed to establish elimination strategies and methods within different sectors. We used secondary sources and methodological contributions of social sciences to study the importance of the reconstruction processes performed in order to highlight the historical memory the victims of the UP genocide represent. This aims to dignify them and to search for truth, justice, reparation, and a non-repetition guarantee. However, it is important to note the complexity of these reconstruction processes in Colombia due to the endless armed conflict existing, which generates tension and challenges. This article identifies the acknowledgement of the rights given to the Army in transitional justice processes through a revision of countries that have changed from a dictatorship to a democracy and from war to peace. In this text we try to take part in the discussion about the "truth" of testimonies. We make reference to several reasons why it would not make sense to dismiss them because they do not coincide with the reality of the events. We state that testimonies have several characteristics of their own: they are made in an eminently instrumental way; their view is highly personal and subjective, and its account is clearly fictionalized and narrativized. Because of the fact that these characteristics are not hidden, but are in plain view -even their authors make reference to them- it is evident that it is not possible to simply state that they are "false" texts, as we have the possibility to establish a dichotomy between fiction and reality from them.
