This article deploys the theoretical work of David Harvey to comprehend contemporary processes of the urbanisation of 'platform capitalism'. It isolates several of Harvey's key conceptual innovations in order to use them to contextualise the development of platform capitalism and to explain the significance of platforms and start-up 'ecosystems'. The article then applies these as heuristics to explain and critique how dynamics of financialisation, assetisation, and the reproduction of specific supplies of labour-power have fused with supply-side urban entrepreneurial placemaking processes to produce the 22@ innovation district. The article homes in on the case of the quick commerce delivery platform, Glovo, to illustrate the more deleterious and contested aspects of the contemporary urbanisation of platform capitalism in Barcelona. The article analyzes the commemoration of the centenary of Pereira between 1947 and 1963, focusing on the political management and urban projects carried out during that period. The interests and proposals of the city formulated by the main public and private promoters of the commemoration are identified. Although there was collaboration between local governments and civic entities, the projected works were marked by tension. The article seeks to undertake an in-depth examination of the territorial and urbanistic thinking of Ildefonso Cerdà (the designer of Barcelona's urban extension project and recognised as a key figure in the history of modern urban planning) based on the consideration of the meaning this designer attributes to the urbs and to urbanisation on the one hand, and to the rur and to ruralisation, on the other hand, the two main axes on which he built his general theory of the colonisation of the territory and of urban planning. In the context of a synthetic-qualitative methodology, the main source of information is Cerdà's own work, specifically, the three-great works that make up his written legacy: General Theory of Urbanization, GTU (1867), Theory of City Construction, TCC (1859) and Theory of Urban Viability, TUV (1861). As a result, the general implications of his approach from a theoretical point of view but also from the perspective of its direct implementation in the transformation of the city of Barcelona (especially in the second half of the nineteenth century and the first few decades of the twentieth century) are made visible. As a conclusion, the different levels and meanings with which Cerdà's approach can be applied (especially at the territorial level, and in relation to the rur and ruralisation) are highlighted in the context of the challenges, problems and contradictions that arise today in everything that concerns the planning and management of the geographical space, either of rural, urban or rur-urban nature. The boom housing that took place in Spain between 1997 and 2007 has generated significant land impacts, especially in the Mediterranean area. The aims of this paper are to reveal and to analyze the intensity of this process in the Valley of Jalón (Alicante) (1978-2016) and to identify factors that have made possible the urban sprawl to most inner areas and its land effects. To obtain them, an analysis and comparison of statistical data (demographic, dwellings, visa's construction and real estate transactions) and an analysis of the urban land use evolution from satellite images have been conducted. As conclusions, it is necessary to worth noting that the urban sprawl process, that has characterized the Mediterranean coast since the 1960s, has spread since the coastal area into the hinterland. Urbanization is an essential process to modernize an economy, and it should, in turn, fuel growth even more by transferring productive factors from traditional sectors with low productivity to more dynamic sectors, while at the same time gradually concentrating them in urban zones. In countries like China, a dual land ownership system is predominant. On the one hand, land located in rural areas is generally collectively owned and set aside for agricultural activities, and on the other, land in the cities is the property of the state and allocated to urban purposes. Fishing activities have lost importance; meanwhile oil extraction and tourism have gained relevance. Also, a demographic analysis evidences the disparity in terms of spatial distribution of people and welfare. This paper analyses the system of actors involved in the development of residential tourism on the north east coast of Brazil. The study observes the socio-political effects of the 2001-2008 real estate boom, focused on the promotion of second homes in closed residential areas. Stakeholder Analysis (SA) is used to identify the various actors' roles and positions within a particular social space in a tourist setting which is exposed to transnational and real estate interests. The method reveals an unequal and conflict-ridden social reality. The results show that residential tourism shapes the local socio-political confi guration, strengthening some actors (urban developers, real estate companies) whilst positioning others in a situation of dependence (local communities, cities). En parques de tres barrios de la ciudad de Buenos Aires se analiza el efecto del uso del territorio en la densidad y riqueza de aves, clasificadas en frecuentes y poco frecuentes al ambiente urbano. Los barrios elegidos se diferencian por la proporción de verde y el grado de urbanización. Se registraron 24 especies, de las cuales 85% son nidificantes nativas y 4 son exóticas. El barrio de Versalles, de casas bajas con jardines, posee menor proporción de aves exóticas y mayor riqueza y densidad relativa de especies poco frecuentes en ambientes urbanos. Los dos barrios con edificación alta, San Telmo y Almagro, muestran contrastes que los diferencian: el primero cuenta con la mayor proporción de riqueza de exóticas, existencia de rapaces y mayor número de gremios, que puede asociarse a la existencia de un parque de gran tamaño. Almagro, con escasez de áreas verdes, registra la mayor densidad total de especies urbanas frecuentes (Paloma doméstica y el Gorrión) beneficiadas por la oferta de refugio y alimento que encuentran en áreas céntricas. El uso del territorio a nivel barrial mostró mayor influencia en la comunidad de aves que la heterogeneidad de ambientes dentro de cada parque. Las especies como la Paloma doméstica, Gorrión y Torcacita común fueron buenos indicadores de presión urbana. La riqueza de especies incluidas en la categoría poco frecuentes, las menos abundantes y más sensibles al efecto de urbanización, funcionarían como buenos indicadores de la calidad del ambiente urbano.
