Science is an activity that is intimately associated with the context in which it takes place, so its teaching and communication cannot ignore the multiple social dimensions in this area, for example, the role of men and women. This research project was developed along this line of work with adolescents from the Instituto San Miguel Garicoits of the Province of Buenos Aires. The main objective was to identify gender stereotypes in the perception of science with students of this institution, using surveys that allowed qualitative and quantitative analysis of their conceptions. The analysis permitted to identify an image of scientific activity characterized by cultural factors associated with masculinity. From these results, we suggested strategies for students to reflect on the relationship between science and gender, which is a fundamental activity for the formation of critical and responsible citizens.
