Objective: To identify scientific evidence related to risk factors and lifestyles in adolescents associated with the occurrence of lung, cervical, gastrointestinal, skin and breast cancer in adulthood. Methodology: Scope review based on the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), four databases were explored, and the selected articles were analyzed, extracted and synthesized. Results: 33 articles were included, the risk factors identified were family history, sex, tobacco, alcohol, overweight, underweight, sun exposure, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, lack of knowledge about self-care measures, low consumption of fruits and vegetables, consumption of red meat and fats, low socioeconomic status, low level of schooling and sedentary lifestyle: physical activity, condom use, monitoring and screening of their health status, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, healthy eating and sun protection. Conclusion: The risk factors found in the scope review are numerous, according to each type of cancer, there are modifiable factors that can be put into practice from adolescence as lifestyles in the individual, family and school sense. Objective: To describe the outcomes of risk management indicators for five types of cancer in population that is affiliated to the General System of Social Security in Health, in six cities of Colombia. Methods: Based on the data from the administrative cancer registry for the period 2016, the High Cost Disease Fund (CAC in Spanish) as a technical organization of the Colombian health system, processed and analyzed the data for the calculation of risk management indicators established in consensus based on the evidence found in six cities Results: There is a diversity in the indicators results found among the different cities, evidencing strengths and weaknesses in each of them for the different types of cancer. From the set of indicators, those with the best results presented are related to the greater detection of cancer in early stages or in situ, as well as a decrease in mortality, especially in colorectal and in gastric cancer. Most indicators in gastric cancer showed optimal results. Important measurements such as the opportunity for diagnosis and treatment are below the proposed standard for most types in all the six cities. Conclusions: The descriptive analysis of cancer risk management indicators shows certain weaknesses in the quality and timeliness of the care of cancer patients, the standards agreed upon in the consensus with the different actors of the system are not being reached, situation which may be due to a reality of problems of the Colombian health system, as well as deficiencies in the quality of the report to the CAC. Hepatic angiosarcoma is a malignant mesenchymal neoplasm of endothelial cells of high grade. Hepatic angiosarcoma represents two percent of all primary neoplasm liver. The highest incidence is between the sixth and seventh decade of life, youth and children is rare, predominantly in men (3:1). Most are idiopathic (75 %). Diagnosis is difficult because clinical manifestations and imaging studies are inconclusive. When clinical manifestations begin progression is often fast, and possibilities for curative treatment are limited. We report the case of a man aged 17, presented two clinical episodes of hemoperitoneum with ultrasound and CT diagnosis of hepatic hemangioma, hepatectomy was performed in the right lobe, the histological study reported multicenter liver angiosarcoma. Angiogenesis is an important event for the tumoral growth and progression. The vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is the most important factor in the vascular neoformation, and the increase on its expression is associated with tumoral progression and worse prognosis in many different malignant tumors. Objective: To evaluate the expression of VEGF-A and its receptor KDR/VEGF-2 in papillary thyroid carcinoma (CPT) larger and smaller than 10mm, with and without extracapsular extension (CPT-E and CPT-NE). Methods: The expression of VEGF-A and KDR was studied with tissular microarray (TMA) in 62 cases of CPT-E and CPT-NE larger and smaller than 10mm. The positivity of VEGF-A and KDR was predominantly citoplasmatic, and it was evaluated in (-), (+), and (++). Results: The expression of VEGF-A was very similar in CPT-E and CPT-NE with no statistical significance between tumoral size and between CPT-E and CPT-NE, but the expression intensity was harder for CPT-E >10mm, while the expression of KDR was more frequently observed in CPT-NE ⩽10mm, the intensity was similar for both groups and sizes. Conclusion: The results obtained correlate with the results publicated before, nevertheless, there are no publicated studies related with extracapsular extension and correlating VEGF-A and KDR. The intensity of the expression of VEGF-A was harder in CPT-E >10mm, while the expression intensity of KDR was similar between both groups concluding that the overexpression of VEGF-A, not the same for KDR, may be related to the extracapsular invasion, and because of that represents a worse prognosis. Introduction: Urothelial cancer of superior tract that surround renal pelvis and ureter are rare, only represent 5% of all urothelial tumors and 7% of all renal tumors. In Mexico do not exist reports about the prevalence of superior tract urothelial tumors. Numerous factors contribute to the development of urothelial tumors of superior urinary tract: Age, sex, race and the most important factor is nicotinism. Other implied factors are coffee, ciclofosfamide, exposition to professional carcinogen, antecedent of infections and lithiasis of urinary tract, use of Chinese grass to lose weight and hereditary tendencies. The presentation sign or symptom more frequent is hematuria. The gold standard for treatment is total nephreureterectomy with excision of a ipsilateral bladder mucosae cuff. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive noncomparative study is made in Hospital de Especialidades del Centro Médico Nacional de Occidente of Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, from 1st of January 1985 to 31 of December 2004. Results: 21 cases were included. Masculine sex predominated, age average was of 59.6 years, the more important risk factor was nicotinism. Hematuria was the most important manifestation. 95% were located in renal pelvis. Predominant histological variant was the transitional. Treatment consisted of radical nephreureterectomy. Free disease period was considered 35 months in average. Conclusions: Superior urinary tract affection is infrequent in Mexico.
