Granular cell tumor or Abrikossoff's tumor is a neoplasm of uncertain origin that can appear on any site, but the tongue is the most frequent location. Diagnosis is based on the classical histologic picture with the presence of granular cells. Granular cell tumors (Abrikossoff's tumor) are neoplasms with a typical histological appearance, that are more often seen in the tongue and skin. Most cutaneous granular cell tumors are asymptomatic nodules less than 3 cm in diameter. Multiple granular cell tumors are seen in 10 to 25% of patients. Treatment is simple excision. The article presents a case involving a 79-year-old smoker, who was diagnosed with cyst. Histological findings of the patient indicated that the lesion contained fatty cells without atypia and with a presence of a-cellular hyaline defining fatty lobes. The patient was diagnosed with lipoma, even though it occurs less frequently in the tongue.
