The daily relationships in the territory of the neighborhoods constitute an essential social process in people's lives. The configuration of urban spaces determines how neighbors largely build their social relationships. The uses of urban spaces shape the possibilities of interaction and social cohesion in neighborhoods. This article analyzes the relationship between physical space and daily practices in two neighborhoods of the city of Madrid: Prosperidad and Malasaña. Starting from the concepts of 'the right to the city' and 'inhabiting', both the influence of physical spaces in the configuration of social relations and the opposite process are explored. The research offers the speeches of 24 in-depth interviews with residents of the selected neighborhoods and reflects the process of anonymization and loss of everyday activities that characterize current cities, recognizing the role of women in the daily use of the city. This article describes the collective actions by the community of the neighborhood Ciudadela Colsubsidio-El Cortijo in Bogotá, which respond to the socioenvironmental conflict between the State and the people over the dispute of the usage of the territory, during the period 2021-2022. Through ethnomethodology, the factors that produce the socio-environmental conflict were identified, actions that responded to the conflict were systematized and the scope of those actions were analyzed. The advent of the 1988 Federal Constitution and subsequent regulation of articles 182 and 183 significantly impacted Brazilian urban planning, introducing democratic urban management as the prerogative of municipalities. Focusing on popular participation in urban and regional planning processes, this study presents a qualitative approach and employs systematic review techniques to select the academic production of theses published between 2001 and 2022, in the National Base of Theses and Dissertations (BNDT). The main objective is to analyze the main conflicts and opportunities found through popular participation in democratic urban planning processes, with an emphasis on the Master Plan. Based on the descriptors “urban planning or master plan” and “social participation or democracy”, 21 theses were selected from the 64 found, as they gave prominence to the theme and presented empirical cases. The result is the diagnosis of the main challenges and opportunities found in different cities in the democratic processes of urban planning. It is possible to see that the obstacles are repeated and indicate a technical and centralizing pattern of the public entity, conflicts of interests between the different actors (state, municipal councils, businesspeople, popular movements, society), lack of knowledge of local dynamics and resistance to popular participation (hampered by lack of technical knowledge, opaque information and scarce opportunities). On the other hand, municipalities more prone to systemic openness signaled that experience based on learning, sharing of power and information are important points for achieving popular participation. Within the Sustainable Development Goals, we can find in Goal 11 the relationship with universal accessibility, which pursues the goal that within the city, any individual can enjoy public spaces, particularly addressing the needs of: people with disability, older adults, women, children. This being a very important point to address in the transformation of cities towards sustainability. The objective of this study is to "Identify the areas of opportunity that exist within the territory based on the relationship of the variables". Variables that have to do with universal accessibility in the road were analyzed, these variables were taken from the interactive platform Space and Data of INEGI and were evaluated in the field according to the criteria of universal accessibility. The research is of a correlational type, descriptive design, with a quantitative approach, carrying out field work and statistical data analysis using SPSS software (version 25) and a sample made up of 1,414 apples. The results reveal that hypothesis 1 is rejected: The source with the best rates of universal accessibility are those detected in INEGI, as well as hypothesis 2: There is a significant relationship between all the variables of universal accessibility in district 4 of Puerto Vallarta, it is rejected, there is no significant relationship in the entirety. The debate on urban justice identifies the space of the city as a substratum equivalent to the reproductive world. Specifically, urbanization is described as the result of a surplus of production; therefore, an effect of what happens inside capitalist property. In this way, finally, the private company is discarded from the urban debate. This paper is part of the construction of the theoretical and thematic background of the research project entitled "Disability in Urban Public Space. Public Policy, Materiality, and Inclusion in Bogotá D.C." and seeks to identify the trends and main currents related to the production of public space and its impact on social inclusion or exclusion, especially of people with disabilities. The issue is addressed by contemporary debates raised by different authors about the construction and social production of space and their influence on the physical-spatial reality of cities. The studies and theorizations of these authors are critically approached in order to build a reflection about the right to the city, the spatial inclusion/exclusion, and disability in public space. For this purpose, a systematized literature review was carried out based on the SALSA methodology (Search, AppraisaL, Synthesis, and Analysis). As a result of this review, it became evident that there is a systematic separation between the production of physical space and social space derived from the acts of dominant power mediated by expert technocrats who conceive, project, and materialize physical space and its difference from the practices, perceptions, and experiences of those who use it. This article analyses the creation and implementation of two protected natural areas (PNA) in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It shows how this at once reveals both the social disparities in the urban evolution process and the potential for constructing the right to the city and the environment as a common good. The results of this process are conditional on balancing the main (often conflicting) goals of protected areas: nature conservation, public use and the land rights of local communities. Starting with a review of the literature on the relationship between the city and nature, the dichotomies and complementarities are presented between those two terms and the classification and designation criteria, which have given rise to a range of social representations, technical mechanisms and political effects in relation to the urban PNA. This article analyzes the social production of urban space in Florencia, Caquetá, Colombia, from a critical perspective of planning. The study uses ethnographic methods and participatory mapping to describe the notions and practices of urban planning at the state and citizen levels. With the latter in mind, we focus on two neighborhoods in Florence, which makes it possible to question the idea that state planning is by itself the bearer of progress and development. The results obtained vindicate the recognition of civic practices and other local forms of planning (in the sense of building and dreaming) to (co) design new urban spaces for life. This work is aimed at revealing the violence in the public politics, in the historic center of Puebla, its instrumental role to profitability interests, trivializing the claims to the right to the city. The pair public politics-violence is analyzed at present times, considered relevant, but the brief historical reference shows its presence in the foundation of the city. The methodological path was drawn from the epistemic theoretical framework of complexity that led us to consider as a key to understanding local particularities, the interaction between theoretical inquiry, national and historical context. Population aging is a process of change in its age distribution. Its analysis requires global and holistic approaches because demographic dynamics respond to a broad range of causes and its effects are not always appropriately identified and quantified. Changes in population result from the interaction of demographic variables with other social, economic and geographic factors. In this paper, I report the need to broaden current approaches of diagnostics excessively focused on economic effects, that also consider population merely as an independent variable and that insufficiently consider the temporal and spatial scales, particularly related to people's right to city and housing. Composed as a mosaic, the present article brings together a series of urban snapshots, by way of ethnographic polaroids, which proceed from three studies conducted with informal workers in Mexico and Spain. The characters and instances disseminated throughout the text account for the urban "state of exception", especially experienced by sectors of the population that have suffered not only forms of exploitation but also of expropriation. Those who were previously known as lumpenproletariat refuse to leave the city. While they continue to use the street as a means of subsistence, they are pointed at as the usual suspects when the public order is defied. The literature on urban studies tends to define the publicity of the urban space as a category that results from the public ownership of the street, through which this becomes subject to the rule of law. Therefore, the present study offers a critical counterpoint to this dominant idea, rather showing the role played by liberal democracies in promoting and maintaining exclusive policies of privatisation, commercialisation, and control of the so-called "public space". Within this analysis, informality is presented as a political response to the inability of the State to guarantee the right to the city, while for the urban dispossessed, it represents a strategy to realise, de facto, this same right. Considering the critical positions regarding the normative ideal of public space, the objective of this special number and its introduction is to point out the central contradictions within the concept of public space as spatially placed ideology, which have transformed the streets into allegedly pacified, sanitized territories. This article aims to provide an overview of urban dispute dynamics and collective experiences, based on a reflection on the case of Parque Augusta, in São Paulo. A private plot of land in downtown São Paulo has unified the agenda of social movements with diverse ideology, in order to transform it into a public park. After several years of spontaneous appropriation by neighbours, from 2013 on activists have intensified direct actions, organizing art and culture events and activities. Using the concepts of "right to the city" and "urban commons", the case analysis describes the trajectories of the groups and identifies some contradictions generated throughout the process. In methodological terms, the investigation is conducted through narratives, spatial scale, time frame, questions and concepts. This article analyses a housing policy of social mixture in a neighborhood that is under an urban renewal process. It studies the implementation of the housing plan included in the law n.o 3.396/09, that creates the Parque Donado-Holmberg neighborhood in the area of what should have been the Highway 3 in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The paper explores the possibilities of social mixture that the social housing program enables (or not) in an urban renewal scenario. For that purpose it analyses the modes of access to social housing and the perceptions that the recipients have about their new houses. It deploys a qualitative methodology, based on secondary sources and the construction of primary data (interviews, non-participant observations and a collective mapping), that has been made between July 2016 and May. 2018. The objective of this article is to socialize the results of a research process on the daily experiences of the subject in a disability situation around the construction of the right to the city, for the development of a mobile application to identify accessible spaces in Ibagué. In this article, the aim is to defend the thesis that the right to the city can be demanded in the Colombian legal system, in terms of emerging and unnamed rights, through a series of norms and instruments recognized by the Colombian legal system, despite not being positive. In this sense, by means of an analysis-synthesis method, it was concluded that Law 9 of 1989, the Political Constitution of 1991, Law 388 of 1997, the land use plans (POT) and development plans have developed or they allow to develop the normative and urbanistic contents of the right to the city. The incidence of territorial stigmatization on residents in Santa Clara and Añaza, two neighborhoods of the disadvantaged periphery of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is examined. Stigma is a process of an intangible nature that weakens feelings of belonging, deteriorates social ties and, ultimately, aggravates the harsh conditions of existence of urban environments with clear signs of social exclusion. The results obtained from the news in the written press and the use of qualitative techniques such as participant observation and interviews reveal, on the one hand, the persistence of a negative social image on both spaces and, on the other, the different ways in which its inhabitants react to this spatial stigma. These differences in the participatory management of this problem result in the development of different emotional ties of the inhabitants towards their daily places of life and suggests their unequal capacity when exercising their right to the city. In current nondenominational plural societies, religious groups understand access to public space as a right to the city. This right legitimizes their status as social actors, who are entitled to have a public life and to be recognized, through various notions linked to modernity and transparency. To explore this hypothesis, this article examines the case of Bangladeshi Muslims in Madrid's multicultural neighborhood of Lavapiés, which has similarities with other multicultural neighborhoods in southern European cities, which has similarities with other multicultural neighbourhoods in southern European cities, such as Lisbon or Rome: a barrio affected by an accelerated gentrification and touristification process. The contemporary urban sphere presents us with challenges of different (dis)orders and is itself one of the main issues to be addressed nowadays. This article deals with the public use of city space in neoliberal times and the modalities and consequences of its appropriation for social life, according to Lefebvre. The essay focuses on the Bairro Cova da Moura and the inscription, in 2013, of the Cape Verdean Kola San Jon in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The analysis is based on ethnographic research undertaken between 2011 and 2018 and deals with Kola San Jon both as a cultural practice that actualises social processes and as a strategical identity device that reclaims the visibility of the community. We focus on the yearly festival at Cova da Moura and the schedule of activities outside the neighbourhood, considering the struggle for the valorisation of the place in Lisbon Metropolitan Area, as well as the process of recognising Kola as heritage in Portugal. The reflection around a practice committed to strategies of action that generate forms of resistance and identity-based assertion, takes us to the question of the right to the city, both in relation to a place that capitalism pushes to the margins as well as a playful event capable of the generating citizens' centralities. Kola San Jon calls to the fore the notion that we currently inhabit, with increasing intensity, webs in which tangled trajectories cross each other, in ways that are more important than frontiers.
