The author reflects on the origins, diffusion and connections of Reiki's Cuban culture, one of the so-called bioenergetic techniques of Japanese origin which have a relative cultural influence on Havanan population since its introduction in Cuba in the middle nineties of the recently concluded 20th century. From the many observations and interviews performed in field work, it is very interesting the similarity of concepts, practices and principles existing between Reiki's initiation ceremony of the self called Tibetan School of Old Havana Municipality and the ones of two of the most popular African origin religions: santería and Palo Monte. Also, he analyses the meanings shared by the three phases dividing the rites of these practices, -according to the classification of anthropologist Arnold van Gennep-: personal motives, with sacred connotations for some of its participants, and the mysticism-esoteric environment promoted by school's teachers. The author concludes demonstrating how the double function fulfilled by Reiki's initiation ceremony (one psychotherapeutic and the other cultural), is one of the most attractive features to practising members of Reiki with religious beliefs of African roots. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the relationship between Reiki Usui's ethiological myth and the action guide that it provides to the Reiki Masters. The material was gathered during a fieldwork, carried out in some Reiki Centers in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. The narratives of Dr. Usui's initiation in the sacred manipulation of Universal Energy, and the way he receives therapeutic power from "Light Beings", gives to the initiated a definition of their roles and the prescriptions about his/her behaviours. El artículo presenta un diálogo con el público sobre el tratamiento del reiki. Una persona pregunta si hay un centro de la terapia en Guadalajara. La comisión respondió que no, solo hay centros en Alemania y en Hawai. Otra pregunta discute si se considera el reiki como una medicina alternativa. La comisión no está en contra de las medicinas alternativas pero hay que tener en cuenta la enfermedad que tiene el paciente, si la tenga. El reiki, según ellos, es más estimulación que medicina.

El artículo habla de la curación con pases energéticos, en particular la técnica reiki. Reiki es un sistema de sanación natural que fue redescubierto en Japón durante el siglo XIX por Usui Mikau. La palabra significa energía vital universal. La enseñanza del reiki se ha ido recibiendo por transmisión oral. Las técnicas del reiki se hacen por la parte frontal y por la posterior por los ojos, las sienes, las orejas, y la coronilla.
