Objective: to know the Brazilian scientific production on racism in the nursing profession. Method: an integrative literature review was carried out in the following databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences, Portal Periodicals of the Commission for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel and Google Scholar. The following descriptors were used: racism, nursing, nurses and nurses, with the Booleans AND and OR, and without temporal demarcation. Results: 18 articles were selected in Portuguese, published between 1997 and 2018. Racism appears in the profession since its beginnings, in its training and in the professional market, being approached through a historical perspective, capable of pointing out the black woman as your main target. In recent years, there has been greater academic production on the subject, which has become a way of confronting racism. Final thoughts: academic production on racism in the nursing profession is scarce. There is a silence on the subject that makes it difficult to debate, as well as ways to face this type of violence in the profession. The theoretical-conceptual appropriation of the theme by nursing students and professionals is urgent so that it occupies a relevant place in the scientific literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
