The juridical and moral relationship has constituted the elementary structures for the construction and production of norms guaranteeing human dignity. Based on the above premise, we proceeded to analyze the link between power, morality and law proposed by Peces-Barba (1997) by delimiting problems in the political and legal spheres from a vision of inclusive positivism for the guarantee of human dignity. Law, power and morality express a triadic relationship in which power must be subordinated to what is manifested in the normative production as an expression of morality taking into account social needs. The legitimate use of law must respect the minimum conditions of law. It is the responsibility of the control bodies to monitor and punish any act of abuse that goes against the values of freedom, equality, solidarity and security as set forth by Peces-Barba. The maximum purpose of the relationship expressed above is the guarantee of human dignity, therefore the moral values and mechanisms of vigilance of the social control agencies must be indispensable in democratic societies. In The Moral Order of the Act of Killing, we want to show how the act of killing, considered one of the crimes that offends collective morality to a greater degree, can nevertheless be considered a justified act of a moral nature by a group of subjects serving a sentence for murder. We propose the notion of "moral order" to understand the regime of justifications, practical rules that govern deadly violence, and underlying value conceptions that emerge from the narratives of our interviewees. This moral order, which would thrive in conditions of exclusion, would be sustained by social networks that tolerate, reinforce, and regulate the moral codes associated with criminal violence. Addresses moral meaning of homicide within the criminal justice system, specifically through the procedural acts that reflect the practice of prosecutors and judges in defining homicide, ways for its consummation, circumstances and quantum of punishment. Based on the review of ten judicial files for convicted killers, indictments and convictions were analyzed in order to select arguments for moral inculpation and grading punishment, which overwhelmingly match between prosecutors and judges and allow to predict, from the beginning of the procedure and despite plea bargaining, the final outcome of the convicting sentence. In Mexico families have suffered considerable transformations of a structural and cultural character and it is possible to observe they are not ruled anymore by an exclusive normative canon. In this article it is proposed to analyze if, in the light of changes in the practices as well in family and gender legislation, the values and norms of cohabitation/coexistence and the way they are morally validated have also changed. We intend to analyze the morality of the family exchanges. Findings presented here come from a qualitative research in which were conducted 10 focus groups with women from Mexico City on the issue of cohabitation/coexistence, distribution of chores and care in their families. The results suggest that new standards of social justice and a growing context of women, elderly and children's rights favour the emergence of a new morality in the families, far different from the heteronormative model of family. Martial arts such as Taekwondo and Gumdo are distinctive symbols of Korean culture. Its international dissemination is the outcome of a governmental policy sustained since the middle of the 20th century. The popularity of this training systems is associated with the idea that they instill fundamental values of Korean society, such as respect for authority and hierarchy, and the preeminence of collective over individual. In this paper we describe how such values are incorporated and reproduced in the daily practice of martial arts in Korea, by analyzing the rank system typical of these disciplines and the rites of passage needed for moving through this symbolically structured space. In doing so, we show some tensions and arrangements which arise from the confrontation between the values that martial disciplines incarnate and wider moral regimes. Specifically, how the teaching of martial arts in Korea contributes to the reproduction of gender inequalities, preserving a specific form of masculine domination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The case of Isabella Nardoni (2008) aroused widespread collective indignation, in order to intensely move Brazilian media and public discussion. Through a webnography, we seek to understand the nature of the collective moral judgment produced as a result of that episode, taking into account the production of a sacrificial crisis in a context of transgression to life. Our main intention is to understand the intensity of this moral reaction through the Brazilian specificity in living and triggering a socially diffused Catholic-Christian morality. This morality would be constituted, among other characteristics, by the ideal of life as a divine gift. For over three decades in Argentina, the families of the disappeared of the Military Dictatorship have engaged in political actions to demand "Justice" against human rights violations conducted during the repression. Legal paths to achieve penal liability have been opened since the annulment of the amnesty laws in 2005. Since then, the narratives concerning the past have definitely arisen --and been in dispute-- in the Argentinean courts. Based on the ethnography of "trials for crimes against humanity", the article analyses how victims, State agents accused of human rights violations and judicial actors have converted the courts into a privileged place for the assertion of meanings to the dictatorial past. The intention is to question how the judicial system is being developed into a place for disputes over the production of truth concerning the military dictatorship in Argentina, through an enchantment analysis of the politics and symbolisms that take into consideration the emotional and existential aspects of human action. El Álbum de la Mujer (1883- 1890), is one of the literary magazines aimed at the female reading public in Mexico during the late 19th Century. It offers a particular vision regarding the role of middleclass women in society. Among the characteristics that make this publication stand out from others of its time -the foreign owner and director, the inclusion of Hispanic and Hispanic American perspectives, and great works and literary authors- the one that guides this research is the marketing of scientific discourse to 19th- Century women. A detailed investigation of the magazine reveals that science, far from having a unique, coherent vision regarding the place of women in society, worked as a space of negotiation where several unexpected perspectives met, traditional as well as more newer and more resistant. Teenage pregnancy has a high socioeconomic impact. The objective of this research was to interpret the meanings of sexuality and pregnancy of girls under 15. An interpretive qualitative study from the phenomenological approach of Alfred Schütz over common sense was carried out. 18 life stories were written with girls under 15 years who had pregnancy experiences in the cities of Bogota, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin. The meanings of menarche, the sexual onset, marriage, contraceptive use and delivery care are influenced by the social and institutional moral agency. The moral enterprise circulates through the spaces of socialization of teenagers: mothers, fathers, homes, institutions and professionals in the health and education sector which classify according to their common sense what is right or "normal" for teenage girls. This text explores and analyses the relationship between pain, emotions, gender and moralities from chronic headaches classified as migraine. According to the narratives of patients who suffer them, there are states of feelings associated with loss of emotional control that are expressed and take on physical reality In the body in the form of migraine headaches, which vary with gender and the local contexts in which they are produced. The fieldwork was done in a public hospital in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (Argentina) where people with this type of headache were interviewed. Through an analysis of the narratives, the ruptures that generate migraines become visible towards normalized patterns in suffering chronic pain, as well as people's sufferings and strategies for dealing with the dual nature of these afflictions as physical and emotional experiences that are crossed and mediated by moralities and gender. The article assumes a conceptual link exists between morality and rationality and attempts to show this link in the context of a critical dialogue with utilitarianism and by showing how rational egoism is self-contradictory. This article examines the role of the science of eugenics in creating hygiene programs on the Caribbean coast of Colombia in the early twentieth century. Eugenic ideas about racial decline, in particular the role of blacks in that presumed decline, inspired projects that envisioned promoting the health and cleanliness of coastal people in order to eliminate their perceived biological and cultural contamination. Much of the desire to racially improve the Caribbean, both the coast itself and the lower Magdalena River, arose from the region's position as the country's gateway to the world (and its markets). The eugenic goal of racial renovation was also moral in nature, and much of the hygiene movement on the coast focused on the uplift and productivity of the region's working-class population. Although the health and sanitation programs were designed ostensibly to convey greater unity to Colombia after the disorders and malaise brought on by the War of a Thousand Days and separation of Panama, the racial and moral impulse behind these programs merely reinforced pre-existing cultural divisions within the country.
