The sorption of uranium by immobilised Eucaliptus Saligna Sm. and Lysiloma latisiliqua L. tannins was investigated. Immobilisation condition were analysed. These resins resulted suitable adsorbent for the concentration of uranium from aqueous systems. The sorption of uranium is pH dependent. At pH 5.5 maximum in sorption capacity is registered. The presence of appreciable amount of sodium chloride do not have any effect on uranium removal. Carbonate and calcium ions in concentrations similar to these that could be found in sea water and other natural water do not decrease the uranium uptake. Tannin resins can be used several times without an appreciable decay of their sorption capacity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
