There is an increasing demand for safety in all aspects of our lives. The focus is on greater mobility with mass passenger transit to the detriment of private means of transport. Several groups, moreover - small children, the elderly etc. - have no access to any other type of mobility (captive users). Gipuzkoa has a diverse urban infrastructure with a large mass transit network. On both the outbound journey and the return journey, passengers are obliged to cross the road on interurban sections, with the risks this entails. In view of the large number of bus stops in the Territory, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council’s Department of Road Infrastructures has devised a Procedure (PRODIGIOA) to classify the stops (in accordance with a number of parameters), thereby establishing their hazardousness, granting priority to provision of facilities and establishing the level of measures to be taken. The procedure is described in this article. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
