In this work the strategic plans of Spanish university libraries are studied, specifically, 47 publicly owned libraries. The essential part of the study has focused on analyzing allusions to communication in order to proceed to a comparative analysis between the different texts and check the aspects of organizational communication management that they reflect. Of the libraries analyzed, 28 use strategic plans, of which 85.7% address communication-related aspects. The most accurate and detailed information is in the actions (or strategies) and in some of the objectives. This study analyzes the scientific productivity on library buildings and spaces based on the analysis of the publications indexed in Scopus and LISTA in the period 2010-2020. The data extracted allow us to draw the general panorama of research works on this subject. The results include 305 papers pertinent to the research topic, related to 284 authors, 120 journals, 304 institutions, 46 countries and 9 languages. The most productive years are 2015 and 2016. The topics are grouped according to these 4 categories, which have emerged from the analysis itself: spaces, design and construction, remodeling, and trends. The conclusions show an outstanding scientific productivity on buildings and library spaces, quantitatively abundant and at the same time stable with fairly constant figures throughout the period. In the authorship variety and a certain dispersion can be appreciated. Co-authorship is present in 58 % of the works. 91.4 % of the publication sources are scientific journals, 6.5 % conference proceedings and 1.9 % book chapters. Scientific production is concentrated in university-level institutions. The eighteenth century books from the collection of the old digital library of the Library University Seville are analyzed to locate the parts made with decorated papers, in order to classify and describe them according to the proposals of specialized literature. For this, the records included in the repository of the digital collection are recovered, the digital reproductions of the books are visualized, the parts with decorated papers are identified and described following the decorated papers classification model, previously elaborated, based on the research of Professor Carpallo Bautista. The model is made up of 6 techniques and their variants. Of the more than 6.700 records from the 18th century in the collection of the digital ancient collection, 511 include decorated papers in their bindings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this work is to check if the libraries of the universities of Madrid and Catalonia offer the use of some of their spaces as a library service. The information of the websites of the libraries is studied and a questionnaire is sent to the libraries that do not have this information. The analyzed aspects are: quantity and variety of spaces, use or not use of the websites to promote the offer of this type of services, location of this information on the websites and content provided. Among the results of the analysis of the 30 universities studied, it has been proven, for example, that 23 universities offer some of their library spaces as a service, of which 20 indicate it on the websites of the libraries; that the variety of spaces offered includes 26 different types, highlighting for their greater presence the space available for group work (21 universities), individual and / or silence work spaces (12 universities) or computer spaces (10 universities), etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The results of a questionnaire about the preservation of old collections are studied. The questionnaire has been answered by 23 Spanish university libraries. The questionnaire has been designed for this research, and reflects the essential aspects related to preservation. We have consulted principles, guidelines, standards, etc. that guide the conservation and preservation of collections. With the data obtained the preservation of the collections in the university libraries is described and compared with two reference guidelines. Improvement proposals are indicated. The results of the collection and analysis of 87 online promotional videos from 45 Spanish university libraries are presented, using a 11-field record. The general study covers aspects such as the titles of the videos, location, years of publication, duration, technical resources, contents, etc. and it has allowed to classify them and to obtain conclusions on the purpose of these videos, their usefulness, model of library that they reflect, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This compilation and analysis of the initiatives related to social responsibility and sustainability in 71 Spanish university libraries obtained information primarily from web sites and print materials: activities reports, brochures, strategic plans and collection management documents. To organise and analyse the information, a list of 5 categories was developed, covering 21 elements.
