This article constitutes a preliminary study of the diachronic overview of the paremies with the headword pan (bread), whose source is the Refranero multilingüe, published on the website of the Instituto Cervantes (Sevilla Muñoz y Zurdo Ruiz-Ayúcar, 2009). In total, 31 paremies have been found, 29 of them with the headword pan and 2 remaining with its hyponym, hogaza. The main objective of the study has been to verify the existence of the selected group of paremies in the most important literary works from the Middle Ages and the Spanish Golden Age as well as in the paremiological collections (mainly the refraneros) in order to outline subsequently a kind of timeline throughout the centuries. After the meticulous revision of the consulted works, we have decided to search for these paremies in the corpora (CORDE, CREA, PRESEEA) in order to complement the analysis and outline their temporal itinerary up to the present day. Subsequently, having carried out the analysis, the selected paremies have been divided into five subgroups based on the type of the diachronic itinerary possible to detect throughout their history. Lastly, the data obtained after the analysis has been verified with the usage indicator (marcador de uso) from the Refranero multilingüe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
