This pilot project aimed to detect intellectual ability in students from 7 th to 12th grade in public, private and subsidized schools, to determine procedures that could be scalable throughout the country in a descriptive-exploratory study. The sample was non-probabilistic and purposeful according to criteria relevant to the study; it included 1220 students from five cities of the Central Department and the Capital, Asunción, in Paraguay. Participants completed tests that measure abstract reasoning: the Raven Advanced Progressive Matrices Test, the Computerized Adaptive Matrices Test and the Reynolds Intelligence Screening Test, with the Raven Advanced Scale being easiest to implement. Besides its ease of utilization, this test is non-verbal and with less cultural bias, reducing possible linguistic and cultural barriers for fair and precise assessment. Using cut-off points in the 90th percentile, 68 students with High Ability were detected, representing 5.6% of the sample. This finding supports the use of local norms to detect students at the upper end of the distribution when conducting universal screening for giftedness and talent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction. This paper presents a qualitative research study which questions the discourse of normative texts regarding the principle of attention to diversity according to the academic and teaching experience of postgraduate students at a Spanish university. Objective. The aim is to go beyond the limits of the surface of the words used in legal texts and access their underlying meaning based on personal experiences narrated by the participants. Materials and methods. The research approach to be used is qualitative, given its flexible and open nature, as this type of design allows the study of problems in higher education to be addressed. Results. The findings reveal the existence of four unnoticed phenomena: the creation of the other as the prototype of their culture, the alienation of the other and the alienation of diversity, the elevation of one culture over the others and, finally, the demonization of these cultures. Conclusions. This paper affirms that the perception and treatment of diversity are afflicted by considerable cultural biases. The final proposition is an invitation to teachers to reflect on their own practice and its legal framework in order to be aware of the possible and unnoticed mismatches between them, because only by being aware of the gap between what is and what should be can actions be redirected to the creation of an atmosphere of respect for diversity. The current covid-19 pandemic, which began towards the end of 2019, has led to radical changes in the daily life of the world's population. The article recalls notions of psychoanalysis that could explain some subjective and social effects of this health emergency, and it highlights the bias of cultural regression in the sequence of a strange loop of human behavior. This article describes the problems that technology programs face in Colombia, which are classified into legislative, comparative, and sociocultural aspects. It also identifies a conceptual confusion that has created a circular problem between imprecise legislation and a cultural bias against this kind of programs. Consequently, this paper suggests reconsidering technology programs as heterogenous systems of actions and practices composed of agents, artifacts, different types of knowledge, norms, and values. Furthermore, it proposes to understand different technology programs in Colombia (technician, associate, and bachelor's) as practices to develop specific competencies for designing, innovating, operating, maintaining, or repairing particular technology systems within a framework of norms and values. Finally, it presents an epistemic framework to characterize the levels of technology programs in a qualitative scale that relates types of knowledge (explicit/implicit or representational/operational) to innovation and design capabilities. Objective/context: Towards the end of the 20th century, the ontological dualism with which anthropologists and archaeologists have trained us theoretically and methodologically has been questioned and debated. In this context, our objective is to critically expose the works that are being carried out and that contribute to problematizing the landscapes entangled with past and present existences, materialities, knowledge, senses or prejudices, and, with it, to re-establish the dialogue between social anthropology and archaeology. Methodology: We expose the current state of the ontological opening in Latin American code. We problematize the notion of landscape as a concept that allows theoretical- methodological dialogues between anthropology and archaeology, as well as with other disciplines. We also present axes of communication and dialogue between the articles that are part of this dossier, to end with the challenges ahead in terms of crossing disciplinary, temporal and spatial borders. Conclusions: In contexts of historical power relations, of deep socio-environmental crises, the main challenges for an ontological opening would be: 1) to generate theoretical referents permeable to various disciplines and fields of knowledge; 2) to consolidate methodologies that integrate the ethnographic with the archaeological; 3) to encourage constructive dialogues towards and with other disciplines and fields of knowledge; and 4) to propitiate the understanding of the current political framework and the generation of public policies that allow for diverse forms of relation with the environment. Originality: The re-establishment of dialogues between archaeology and social anthropology from ontological openings has the potential to discuss how, in certain contexts, landscapes and hegemonic ways of living are concretized and/or disputed, as well as the political uses of the past and the policies of use of space and the environment. Both linguists and specialists in foreign language teaching agree that the phraseology represents one of the areas of the language that has greater difficulties when we refer to the foreign language teaching - learning process. The presence of phraseological units (UFs) in the colloquial language, in literature or in any formal or informal context - in short, their omnipresence in speech - implies that the speaker is capable of making a selection among the different UFs. It also implies that he knows about the meaning, the type of message, the effect on the receiver, etc. The speaker, in this particular case, the Romanian student who is studying Spanish as a foreign language, uses UFs, generally, for expressive needs (Sciutto, 2005), as well as for its connotative and emotive value (Buzea, 2012; Buzea y Dumbrăvescu, 2018). In order to use them in a proper way, the speaker needs to achieve a transcultural communicative level (García Benito, 2009) in terms of achieving a high level of cultural competence (both native and foreign language culture). In addition, the speaker would have to overcome not only stereotypes but also social and cultural prejudices. In this paper, we intend to analyze a series of transparent UFs in Romanian and Spanish that can provide the student a better approach to the two mentioned cultures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

El articulo discute la efectividad de los sesgos culturales y los programas de salud mental y apoyo psicosocial (SMAPS), El articulo también se centra en la alivacion de la carga psicosocial y de salud mental .el sesgo cultural en los programas humanitarios de SMAPS y el reto del sesgo cultural en conflicto sirio y su vulnerabilidad. Otros temas relacionados son el impacto del sesgo cultural en (SMAPS) y el obstáculo de la cultura de los refugiados.

The main objective of this research was to analyze the meanings that elderly have regarding their sexuality. The research design was qualitative, exploratory, descriptive-relational. 14 semi-structured interviews and two discussion groups were used. The total number of participants were 24 elderly users of two institutional care centers. For the analysis of results, the computer program employed was Atlas Ti 6.0. It was used to develop the coding according to the principles of the Grounded Theory. It was found that the elderly represent sexuality as an emotional act that transcends the physical coital act, regardless of the gender of the partner. This article is about the process of ethno-racialization in the multicultural era specifically in the context of Colombia nowadays. A wide comprehensive theoretical framework is taken as the basis (racialization, structural racism, multiculturalism, intersectionality, everyday racism). The analysis of primary sources and in-depth interviews to young African descents from Bogotá are used to argue that multiculturalism, as it has been developed on a legislative level and in the colombian public policies, is not a challenge for the racialized foundations of power and social relations and that there is a variety of mechanisms that seek to defend the privileges of the white-mestizo. However and simultaneously, we suggest that multiculturalism provides a number of opportunities to question the racialized social and political system and to develop strategies of resistance. This paper intends to test a predictive explanatory model of conceptions related to learning abilities of immigrant students starting from their own immigrant attitudes and their attitudes towards multicultural education. The sample consisted of 740 training teachers aged between 18 and 33. Results show that the individual's attitude towards human rights and willingness to establish relationships with other immigrants are directly related to the value of multicultural education and, that this type of education, in turn, can predict the attribution of academic stereotypes. The article promotes the idea that a European ethnocentric bias pervades the historiography of the Andes region of South America during the 18th century, impeding an accurate understanding of the region's history. It explains that the colonial history of the region has traditionally been seen through the eyes of the dominant, but minority, Spanish and Creole population of the time. The article notes that while historical sources are replete with accounts of conflict between government and ecclesiastical elites, they ignore the circumstances of the majority indigenous population. At the same time, studies indicate as many as 140 indigenous uprisings, among them the Túpac Amaru uprising in 1780, occurring in the region during the 18th century, according to the article.
