Bladder's benign mesenchymal tumors occur in less than 1% of bladder tumors and Bladder Leiomyoma accounts for 35% of these lesions. This is a rare disease, 170 cases in the literature have been reported. This disease was first described by Jackson (1870), Grussenbauer (1875), and Volkman (1876). All of them are case reports. We report the case of a 26 years old male, with an intramural bladder tumor of 11 x 10 x 9 cm, and a weight of 400 g. At the initial partial endoscopic resection no evidence of malignancy was indicated, hence an open approach was preferred, without evidence of recurrence at the follow up. Bladder leiomyoma is a benign tumor with good prognosis if the surgical procedure is performed in optimal conditions the risk of recurrence is rare. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
