From 2006 onwards it has been growing the production of academic and creative text works regarding the violence triggered by both Mexican and American governments, specially over the Felipe Calderon’s rule (2006-2012) and George Bush’s one (2001-2009). Depicted as if trying to end the insecurity, such a bilateral strategy ended up serving, in reality, for paving the way for the extractivism. This work aims to show how several academic, journalistic and literary works have rightly interpreted the latter. To do so the author analyzes Maria Rivera,’s Los Muertos, Dolores Dorantes’s Querida fabrica, Javier Raya’s Disentimientos de la nación and Sara Uribe’s Antígona González. The analysis is made taking into account two theoretical approaches. On the one hand, the works by Giorgio Agamben, Rita Segato, Oswaldo Zavala and Luis Astorga. They all explain the violence, in essence, as a result of a capitalist strategy. The other theoretical proposals are those elaborated by Cristina Rivera Garza, Ana Cento Bull and Hans Lauge Hansen, as well as by Daniel Inclán. Boosted by their work with archives, these theorists look for diverse vias to exit the dreadful results caused by violence. This text is intended to focus the actual causes of such a phenomenon in Mexico, and to utilize an array of proposals to imagine ways for exiting the violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

La autora comenta sobre sus ideas acerca de la relación entre el arte y la política desde una perspectiva posfundacional. Se examina su crítica de filósofos incluyendo John Rawls y Jürgen Habermas. También se consideran los conceptos de la hegemonía, el antagonismo y el agonismo.

This essay defends that mimesis is an inherently agonistic and paradoxical human practice. The divergent views on mimesis by Plato and Aristotle, as well as by Adorno and Benjamin, are the philosophical manifestation of an agonistic tension of human mimesis that is not resolved in the exclusive truth of one of the positions, but remains as a permanent possibility to create alternative paths in history. This article explores the political identity of Podemos which, along with other political forces, has transformed the party system in Spain. Podemos emerged as a party that rejected the left-right axis, defining itself in terms of a polarity between those "from above" and those "from below". In contrast to other studies, it is here considered that political identity cannot be determined solely in relation to such a dichotomy, but it can be antagonistic, as conceptualized by Laclau, or agonistic, as seen by Mouffe's. Antagonism implies a relation of enmity with the political order and, therefore, a contestation of the latter, whereas agonism involves an adversarial relation with the political order and, hence, its regeneration. Taking this distinction as key to understanding Podemos's political identity, this article presents a discursive analysis of the "purple party", from its origins up to October 2016. The aim is to examine, using criteria based on form rather than contents, whether Podemos sees the existing political order as an insurmountable obstacle to the success of its demands or, rather, a fertile ground to achieve them. In the concluding remarks, it is argued that around January 2015 the initial antagonistic relationship became an agonistic one. The increasing adjustment of the Podemos discourse to the existing political order should not be seen as a moderation but, rather, as a process of negotiation with sedimented meaning. The idea of redefining the meaning of politics is explored as well as the ideas of German philosopher and political theorist Carl Schmitt.

The article discusses the relationship between conflict and policy with a specific focus on political communication and deliberation as well as agonism. The authors compare and contrast viewpoints from the following moral and political philosophers: German philosopher and sociologist Jürgen Habermas, American John Rawls, and Scottish Alaisdair MacIntyre. The moral and ethical aspects of political science, values, and pluralism are explored. Other topics mentioned include human action, Marxist philosophy, and German economist and sociologist Max Weber.

Many researchers have taken up Pierre Bourdieu's theory to explain the continuities and ruptures in the political practices of the lower classes against the application of neoliberal policies in Argentina. The concept of protest field was introduced to highlight the complexity of historical processes and the dynamic sedimentation of the structures of positions in tension and dispute. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the strengths and limitations of using the concept of protest field for the analysis of social conflict in Neuquén province, Argentina. On one hand, it makes it possible to approach the phenomenon from a relational and historical point of view, but it is not useful to analyzes the field of protest as a specific field with demarcated internal properties (such us autonomy, 'illusio', 'habitus' and specific capital.
