Online educommunication and empowerment are crucial dimensions in awareness, literacy and change processes, and their articulation may bring benefits to cardiovascular health, given that cardiovascular diseases are the deadliest in the world, including in Portugal. This paper aims to explore the relationship between online educommunication and empowerment in cardiovascular health, using Lisbon citizens as a case. The theoretical framework is composed by the interactivity and empowerment model, the health belief model and the uses and gratifications theory. The questionnaire survey was applied to a gender and age quota sample (N=400). The questionnaire includes thematic dimensions, such as online informative practices on cardiovascular health, the eHEALS scale, and the importance and effectiveness of the educommunicative message on cardiovascular health features. Results show that the educommunicative message has characteristics at the level of purpose, content, type, format, emotions, and logic, which enhance it the most. This indicates that exposure to messages with these characteristics may instigate empowerment and behavior change. Respondents self-rated with the most positive levels on the eHEALS scale, showing empowerment at the eHealth level, with age rather than gender differences. There is evidence that eHealth skills and having cardiovascular disease influence information seeking and empowerment. HEARTS in the Americas is the regional adaptation of the World Health Organization's Global Hearts Initiative, which will be the model for risk management for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in primary health care in the Region of the Americas by 2025. It has already been implemented in 21 countries and 1045 primary health care centers throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. It takes a public health and health systems approach to systematically introduce simplified interventions at the primary health care level and focuses on hypertension as a clinical entry point. This paper introduces a new, improved application (app), the main component of which is the calculator for CVD risk and hypertension management. The paper summarizes the risk assessment approach and the methodology used by the World Health Organization to update its cardiovascular risk charts in 2019; describes the app, its use, functionality and validation process; and provides a set of practical recommendations for optimizing CVD risk and hypertension management by using the app in clinical practice. The HEARTS app is a powerful tool to improve the quality of care provided in primary health settings. HEARTS in the Americas is the Pan American Health Organization flagship program to accelerate the reduction of the cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden by improving hypertension control and CVD secondary prevention in primary health care. A monitoring and evaluation (M&E) platform is needed for program implementation, benchmarking, and informing policy-makers. This paper describes the conceptual bases of the HEARTS M&E platform including software design principles, contextualization of data collection modules, data structure, reporting, and visualization. The District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2) web-based platform was chosen to implement aggregate data entry of CVD outcome, process, and structural risk factor indicators. In addition, PowerBI was chosen for data visualization and dashboarding for the analysis of performance and trends above the health care facility level. The development of this new information platform was focused on primary health care facility data entry, timely data reporting, visualizations, and ultimately active use of data to drive decision-making for equitable program implementation and improved quality of care. Additionally, lessons learnt and programmatic considerations were assessed through the experience of the M&E software development. Building political will and support is essential to developing and deploying a flexible platform in multiple countries which is contextually specific to the needs of various stakeholders and levels of the health care system. The HEARTS M&E platform supports program implementation and reveals structural and managerial limitations and care gaps. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the Americas and raised blood pressure accounts for over 50% of CVD. In the Americas over a quarter of adult women and four in ten adult men have hypertension and the diagnosis, treatment and control are suboptimal. In 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) released an updated guideline for the pharmacological treatment of hypertension in adults. This policy paper highlights the facilitating role of the WHO Global HEARTS initiative and the HEARTS in the Americas initiative to catalyze the implementation of this guideline, provides specific policy advice for implementation, and emphasizes that an over-arching strategic approach for hypertension control is needed. The authors urge health advocates and policymakers to prioritize the prevention and control of hypertension to improve the health and wellbeing of their populations and to reduce CVD health disparities within and between populations of the Americas. The wine has been present since ancient times, and it is even mentioned in many passages of the Bible. We also have the famous representation of "The wedding at Cana" by Paolo Veronese, in which the outstanding role of wine can be seen in such an important event as a wedding. Even over time, throughout history, it has been found that it was much safer to drink wine that simple water (from the Middle Ages to prevent diseases such as plague or leprosy); this matter has become so important that wine has been included within the Mediterranean diet as a "basic food." With this study, it is sought to know whether the consumption of red wine prevents cardiovascular diseases (CVD) through its interaction with the antioxidants it contains. This is why much data was reviewed on other studies, as well as information from important sources on internet platforms. As a purpose, this paper is intended to inform the readers about the importance of having an adequate --as well as balanced-- food, and the recommended intake of red wine (1 cup for women, 2 cups for men, 250 ml both). For this, it is expected to continue the research of this topic related to health, since CVD can be prevented, as well as improve the country's economy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and especially the obstruction of the coronary arteries are the main health expenditure in most of the countries. However, France, according to WHO, has the lowest mortality from these causes but shows a high dietary intake of saturated fats, known as the French paradox. In addition, consumption of wine, small food intakes, regular exercise, increased intake of fruits and vegetables rich in dietary fiber, flavonoids and phytosterols and also cheese cornsumption, are factors which together contribute to the paradox. There areseveral studies which link fat intake and CVD but not showing a high correlation. This fact could be justified by the divergent effect of saturated fat on lipoproteins. Dairy products content saturated fats, however recentlystudies have found an inverse correlation between its consumption and CVD, possibly due to their content of trans fatty acid palmitoleic, which allows to increase the levels of HDL cholesterol, decrease C reactive protein and triglicerides. In general, dairy products have an important variety of nutrients which can have several health benefits improving the response to insulin, adiponectin levels increase and decrease the presence of obesity, among other effects. Meanwhile, consumption of cheese, may have positive health effects, for example, is able toprevent cardiovascular infarctions, descend plasma TAGs and increases HDL cholesterol. This paper shows the results of several studies linking consumption of cheese with non-communicable diseases with special emphasis on CVD. Introduction: There is sufficient evidence of the risks associated with diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease with obesity. Occupational health continues to be a challenge to integrate the detection of metabolic risks and timely interventions that prevent disability and deterioration of the quality of life Objective: To detect nutritional and metabolic risks in laboratory workers. Materials and methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 26 workers (21 women and 5 men) from a State Laboratory of Public Health of the State of Guanajuato; Anthropometric indicators (weight, height, circumference, percentage of body fat), biochemical indicators (glucose, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, creatinine and urea) were measured. Metabolic syndrome was analisys in the participants. Results: The average age of the participants was 36.5 ± 12 years; 50% of the women presented obesity and 76% a percentage of body fat higher than recommended. Mean glucose was 79±9 g/dL, cholesterol 176 ± 31 mg / dL, HDL 12.9±49 mg/dL, LDL 23.9±97 mg/dL, triglycerides 152 ± 80 mg / dL, Creatinine 0, 6±0.1 mg/dL and urea 25 ± 6.6 mg/dL. Metabolic syndrome were detected in five women. Conclusion: A cardiometabolic risk of 23.8% was found, mainly due to the presence of obesity, distribution, and percentage of body fat in the workers, which with the average age the early risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and dyslipidemia.
