Abstract The global demand for milk and dairy products is rising, with cow's milk dominating production. However, goat dairy products have gained attention due to their nutritional value and bioactive components. Goat milk, in particular, is priced attractively, leading to increased interest from producers and investors. Goat milk-based products like yogurt, cheese, and fermented milk are available in the market and prepared using advanced processing technologies. Goat milk's exceptional quality, nutritional composition, and adaptability make it a superior choice, containing essential minerals and vitamins. The gourmet market has elevated goat cheese to a refined culinary delight. Therefore, this systematic review aims to summarize the state of successful research on goat milk cheese production from 2013 to 2023. The bibliographic search was carried out in September 2023 in electronic databases of scientific journals, namely Google Scholar, Science Direct, PUBMED, SCIELO, and Web of Science. Twenty (20) articles were included to discuss results that addressed the research question, meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The content presented provides a comprehensive overview of the cheese manufacturing process, encompassing stages such as filtration, pasteurization, addition of lactic cultures, coagulation (using various methods such as enzymatic, rennet, charcoal, or enzymes), cutting the curd, molding, salting, and maturation. The inclusion of bibliographic references further enhances understanding, highlighting the evolution of practices over time. These contributions are essential for improving the quality and efficiency of goat milk cheese production, offering valuable insights for researchers, producers, and industry enthusiasts.

The broadcasting landscape in the United States includes a limited number of Spanish-speaking networks that serve the Hispanic community. As part of the accessibility regulations in place, the Federal Communications Commission issued the first closed captioning quality rules in 2014, which apply in the same manner to English and Spanish pre-recorded and live programming. Over the last few years, comprehensive studies assessing the quality of closed captioned broadcasts have begun to emerge, either led by or in collaboration with Media Accessibility researchers. These kinds of projects have shed some light on the strengths and weaknesses of current live closed captions, and have gathered valuable data that may be used to improve the training of practitioners. This article presents the main findings of the first study aimed at assessing the quality of the closed captions that accompany Spanish-language programming in the United States. By focusing on the national newscasts, it discusses the completeness, placement, accuracy and synchronicity of the closed captioning in Spanish currently delivered on television. Results show excellent completeness and placement, an average captioning speed aligned to the existing guidelines, and improvable delay and accuracy under the NER model.

This work reflects on the benefits of applying risk-based thinking for improvement in a quality management system. Based on the crucial role of theory and on the belief that conceptual accuracy and clarity are the main key to an effective practice, this work studies and analyzes the state-of-the-art core concepts of improvement and risk management, through international and national standards, including ISO 9000, ISO 31000 and ANSI-PMI Standards, among others. Consequently, reformulations of the main definitions about improvement are proposed, with the contribution of risk-based thinking concepts, in order to provide a wider perspective of the knowledge platform that has been built. The primary challenge encountered by marketers of green chili peppers is the rapid post-harvest deterioration. The application of pre- and post-harvest moringa leaf extract (MLE) is an effective approach to preserving the quality of fruits after being harvested. This study aimed to assess the effect of MLE application at pre- and post-harvest periods on physical and chemical properties of green chili during storage. For this purpose, a completely randomized design was arranged with nine replications. Pre-harvest MLE (seed soaking + foliar spraying with MLE) treatment showed a similar response to the control. Meanwhile, post-harvest MLE application on fruit by dipping method had better results on L*, a*, weight loss, firmness, and vitamin C after 7 d of storage compared to the control. These results suggested that post-harvest MLE application was more effective in prolonging the self-life of green chili, particularly in maintaining the physical attributes.

Financial inclusion is a relevant matter that is constantly being looked upon, given its influence in reducing poverty and enabling the low-income population to access financial products and services, thus improving their living condition. This research aims to analyze the evolution of financial inclusion in Peru during the last seven years (2016-2022);also, it takes into consideration information from secondary source databases, such as reports from the World Bank, the Superintendencia de Banca y Seguros, and the Banco Central de Reserva del Perú. The method used has a descriptive and explanatory design. The findings of the research provide evidence that 56% of the Peruvian population has access to financial services (64% in urban areas and 31% in rural areas), which falls below the goal of 75% set by the Peruvian government. This gap can be attributed to customer service costs, including in-person service or adequate infrastructure for better service (access limitations), and poor financial education (limiting broader usage).

When talking about quality, it must be considered that it is something subjective that can be defined as the fulfillment of customer requirements. There are sectors, such as restaurants, where the provision of the service and the product delivered must be combined, so that quality can be measured. This research aims to evaluate the conditions of customer service provision using the Dineserv quantitative model and the effect it has on the profitability of restaurants in the northern area of Montería. The Dineserv tool uses 29 questions that make it possible to assess the degree of satisfaction with the service provided and the product delivered and identify the non-conformities of costumers with restaurants. The statistical analysis was done through a factorial analysis, the calculation of statistics such as the standard deviation, and the mean. Finally, the degree of quality of the service offered by restaurants to diners in the city of Montería and its relationship with the profitability of the establishments was known.

The absence of specifications for the granulometry a quarry must produce causes a serious problem, making it difficult for quarries to adjust their processes to produce within the range required by clients, and for costumers, making it a difficult process to design asphalt mixes and concretes that conform to the granulometric curves established in regulations. It is essential to develop limit granulometric curves for quarries, adapted to customer requirements. In this paper, a methodology for granulometric control in the quarry is proposed, which includes the collection of process information, the preparation of control charts and the process capability analysis according to the established specifications. Moreover, an example of the development of limit granulometric curves is proposed for the quarry under study located in Argentina, in the province of Buenos Aires, which would allow to produce aggregates whose granulometry can be used in asphalt mixes CAC D19 and concrete pavements.

Resumen: Introducción: la asociación entre la calidad académica en las rotaciones clínicas con el enganche académico en estudiantes de Medicina es poco conocida. Este trabajo se propone estudiar dicha asociación en 3 rotaciones clínicas (hospitalaria, simulación y enseñanza mediada por telemedicina) durante el curso de pediatría en el marco de la pandemia por COVID-19. Material y métodos: estudio transversal de correlación con estudiantes de Medicina que realizaron rotación clínica de pediatría. La calidad académica y el enganche fueron evaluadas mediante los cuestionarios ROTA-Q y UWES-S 17, respectivamente. Se computaron los promedios y desviaciones estándar de cada variable y las correlaciones se evaluaron mediante la prueba de Pearson (significativo si p < 0,05). Resultados: participaron 44 estudiantes. El promedio de la escala ROTA-Q fue de 4,39 ± 0,62 [1–5] y el de la escala UWES-S 17 fue 4,28 ± 0,90 [1,76–6]. El coeficiente de Pearson entre la calidad de las rotaciones y el enganche académico fue 0,319 (p < 0,05). La asociación con el enganche académico fue superior con la rotación de telemedicina, seguida por la de simulación y finalmente por la hospitalaria. Conclusiones: la calidad académica de la rotación de pediatría se relaciona positivamente con el enganche a las actividades académicas. La percepción de calidad académica, los niveles de enganche y su asociación fueron mayores en telemedicina. Son necesarias acciones para la mejora continua de la calidad y para potenciar la formación mediada por telemedicina y simulación. Resumen: Objetivo: Explorar las percepciones de profesionales de Atención Primaria (AP) sobre los cambios en las modalidades de consulta y su impacto en los fundamentos de la AP durante la pandemia. Diseño: Investigación cualitativa de diseño exploratorio realizada entre octubre y noviembre de 2021. Emplazamiento: Cuatro centros de salud urbanos y uno rural con diferente perfil socioeconómico en los tres territorios del País Vasco. Participantes: Cuarenta y seis profesionales de distintas categorías del equipo de AP y directores/as de centros de salud. Método: Muestreo intencional. Cinco grupos focales y cuatro entrevistas en profundidad. Análisis temático con apoyo del programa Atlas.Ti. Triangulación de los resultados entre el equipo investigador. Resultados: Las vivencias sobre el desarrollo de la teleconsulta aparecen directamente condicionadas por el contexto pandémico en sus diferentes fases y por la situación de la AP. Los y las profesionales identificaron barreras comunicacionales, así como potencialidades de su uso que requieren de formación y evaluación adecuadas. Se percibieron riesgos de inequidad en la utilización de las teleconsultas que podrían estar afectando a la calidad asistencial. La longitudinalidad se valoró como un factor facilitador y se identificaron problemas en la coordinación y comunicación mediante teleconsulta entre niveles asistenciales. Conclusiones: La sustitución de la consulta presencial por la teleconsulta tuvo impacto en aspectos fundamentales de la AP como la calidad, accesibilidad, equidad, coordinación y longitudinalidad. La teleconsulta en AP requiere siempre ser evaluada considerando las circunstancias y los contextos concretos de su implementación. Abstract: Objective: To explore the perceptions of Primary Health Care (PHC) professionals on changes in consultation modalities and their impact on PHC fundamentals during the pandemic. Design: Qualitative exploratory research conducted between October and November, 2021. Location: Four urban and one rural primary health care centers with different socioeconomic profiles in the three territories of the Basque Country. Participants: Forty-six professionals from different categories of the PHC team and health centre directors. Method: Purposive sampling. Five focus groups and four in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis with the support of the Atlas.ti programme. Triangulation of results among the research team. Results: Experiences with the development of teleconsultation appear to be directly conditioned by the pandemic context in its different phases and by the PC situation. The professionals identified communication barriers, as well as potentialities of its use that require adequate training and evaluation. Risks of inequity were perceived in the use of teleconsultations that could be affecting the quality of care. Longitudinality was assessed as a facilitating factor and problems of coordination and communication through teleconsultation between care levels were identified. Conclusions: The replacement of face-to-face consultation by teleconsultation had an impact on fundamental aspects of PHC such as quality, accessibility, equity, coordination and longitudinality. Teleconsultation in PHC should always be evaluated considering the specific circumstances and contexts of its implementation.

Objective: To evaluate the synergistic application of biofertilizer and water-soluble fertilizer on the yield and quality of pastures under the soil and climate conditions of Tumbaco-Ecuador. Materials and Methods: Biofertilizer produced by facultative anaerobic fermentation of dairy cow effluents was used. Three doses of biofertilizer (0, 600; 1 200 L ha-1 cut-1) and three doses of water-soluble nitrogen fertilizer (0; 10; 20 kg N ha-1 cut-1) were evaluated. A complete randomized block design was used, with three blocks and nine treatments. The variables biomass, crude protein and normalized difference vegetation index were analyzed. Seven cuts were made from January to July. Results: The best results were obtained when nitrogen fertilizer and biofertilizer were used in combination. Statistical differences (p < 0,05) were observed in the studied variables. The treatment with 600 L and 20 kg N ha-1 cut-1 recorded the highest biomass yield with 3 177 kg dry matter ha-1. Crude protein indicated values of 21,6 % and the normalized differentiated vegetation index reached values of 0,89 when 1 200 L ha-1 cut-1 and 20 kg N ha-1 cut-1 were used. Conclusions: Biofertilizers have low nutrient concentration, but great potential, since they improve the assimilation of nitrogen fertilizers and good yields and pasture quality are achieved with relatively low doses of nitrogen between cuts.

The article deals with aspects of quality management by those in the public trust profession of mountain guide. In particular, the article will raise aspects of quality in terms of public health and safety. These two aspects are very important in the work of a mountain guide, who is the person in charge of the group he or she is guiding in mountain areas. These areas can often cause some difficulties for tourists, hence the important role of the mountain guide person to ensure safety during mountain expeditions. Within the framework of the article, the organizational basis for conducting business as a mountain guide will be discussed, and the issue of quality will also be pointed out with regard to the professional self-government of mountain guides, for the establishment of which there have been calls for years. The paper uses a dogmatic and exegetical research method, which required an analysis of the detailed legal regulations of the area, as well as an empirical study of the professional self-government. In 2016, three universities in Poland established, on the basis of the provisions of the no longer applicable Act of 30 April 2010 on financing science, the first in Poland "Polish scientific network - Research and development work for the dissemination of sports law". On the basis of this project, the next step was to establish a registered association under the name of Towarzystwo Sieci Naukowej Sportowego (Towarzystwo Sieci Naukowej Sportowego), this entity as a unique entity on the sports market is responsible for the entire spectrum of activities in the field of management and law in sport. The article aims to discuss good practices in the activities of third sector organizations on the example of the said association. The work uses the dogmatic-exegetical method of research, thanks to which the wording of the statute and the agreement of the scientific network were quoted. An empirical method was also used, which is related to the experience of some of the authors - members of the said association.

Abstract The planting of new types of table citrus is an interesting alternative for citrus growers in the state of Paraná, as this domestic market continues to grow and needs innovation. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the acceptance and storage of a new hybrid for the region of Londrina / PR, Fremont IAC 543 mandarin (Citrus clementina hort. ex Tan x C. reticulataBlanco). Treatments were: storage of fruits with and without wax coating at room temperature [21 ± 2 °C and relative humidity (RH) = 60 ± 5%] for up to 36 days. Sensory (acceptance test and purchase intention) and physicochemical analyses [weight, juice yield, acidity, soluble solids and soluble solids/titratable acidity (ratio)] were performed before and after storage. Physicochemical data were submitted to analysis of variance and regression, while sensory analysis results were explored through descriptive statistics and principal components analysis using the R statistical software. It could be concluded that Fremont IAC 543 mandarin can be stored with wax coating and at room temperature without losing its quality characteristics for a period of up to 18 days.

Resumen: Introducción: Es importante conocer si en la reanimación neonatal el uso de diversas herramientas de calidad tiene impacto en la preparación del puesto de estabilización, correcto desarrollo del procedimiento y evolución clínica de aquellos neonatos más vulnerables. Material y métodos: Estudio de intervención cuasiexperimental, prospectivo y multicéntrico en 5 unidades neonatales iii-A. En las fases pre y postintervención, ambas de un año de duración, se realizaron auditorías aleatorias semanales de los puestos de estabilización en el paritorio para comprobar su preparación. En la fase postintervención se usaron checklists, briefings y debriefings en las reanimaciones de los neonatos menores de 32 semanas. Se compararon el desarrollo del procedimiento y la evolución inicial posreanimación entre ambos periodos. This study investigated the effects of Aloe vera gel (AVG) based on edible coating solutions on tomatoes to maintain the postharvest quality during storage at 10°C for 30 days. The AVG coating solutions were prepared with different percentages of extracted gel ranging from 0 to 80% with addition to calcium chloride (2%), ascorbic acid (4%), carboxymethyl cellulose (3%), glycerol (2%), and oleic acid (3 mL). Results showed that coating solutions containing 60 to 80% AVG had better results than coating solutions containing 0 to 40% gel. Contents of ascorbic acid, sugar, flavonoids, carotenoids, lycopene, and pectin remained higher, and total microbial count remained lesser in fruits treated with a higher concentration of AVG over the storage time. Tomatoes coated with 60% and 80% Aloe vera gel also showed maximum antioxidant efficiency, absence of E. coli, and no signs of fungal (Botrytis cinerea) growth on tomatoes. In conclusion, applying 60–80% AVG edible coatings might be suggested to maintain the postharvest quality of tomato fruit.

In the framework of the theory of functional sentence perspective, if a context-dependent subject is further specified, the sentence implements the Quality Scale. Under favourable conditions, however, the occurrence of a context-independent subject in the same kind of structure may lead to a presentational configuration (the Presentation Scale). The present corpus-based paper looks at English sentences featuring verbo-nominal structures with prepositional predications that follow the pattern Be + Prepositional Phrase (such as be at stake, be on the move, be in full swing, be at hand, be in action, be at risk, be in sight) in terms of their presentational potential. Taking into account their syntactic, textual and information structure, the analysis strives to determine whether and under what circumstances the predicates employed in such sentences express existence/appearance on the scene.

Nariño (Colombia) has high dairy potential; however, their herds present difficulties in the nutritional component (energy imbalance) of the cows, affecting their productivity. This research evaluated the effect of a bypass fat supplement on lipid concentration in milk and the reproductive efficiency of dairy cows. The study was based on 21 Holstein x Simmental cows between first and third calving and the following was supplied: forage + concentrate (T1); forage + concentrate + 250 g/day of bypass fat (T2) and forage + concentrate + 250 g/day of bypass fat enriched with omega-three (T3). The experiment was conducted from day 15 pre-calving until day 105 of lactation. During this period, milk quantity, quality, composition, and reproductive behavior were recorded. For data analysis, a repeated measure mixed design with time-series data was used, where the fixed effects were the treatments, periods, and their interaction, the animals represented the random effect, and the covariable was the estimated milk yield during lactation. The results showed normal mobilization of adipose tissue; the compositional quality of the milk did not vary across treatments, although T2 presented a higher estimated production per lactation, and T3 presented a higher percentage of fatty acid C18:2. In the reproductive indicators, they were not influenced between the treatments; concluding that the base diet offered in the herd presents a nutritional balance appropriate to the requirements of the cows in production.

Introducción/objetivo: dado que las fluctuaciones del precio de la leche impactan su producción local, y esto incide en un sector vital para la economía, por su aporte al PIB y la generación de empleos directos e indirectos, el presente trabajo busca establecer ¿cuál ha sido el efecto de los incentivos monetarios sobre la calidad de la leche de 164 predios lecheros del valle de Ubaté y Chiquinquirá, entre marzo del 2012 y marzo del 2018? Metodología: para responder a esta pregunta, se parte de la hipótesis de que la implementación del esquema de pago por calidad descrito en la Resolución 0017 del 2012 afectó positivamente los valores con los que se mide la calidad higiénica de la leche. Para someter esta hipótesis a prueba, se utilizó una metodología de enfoque mixto (cualitativo y cuantitativo), descriptivo, correlacional y explicativo, no experimental, utilizando un modelo longitudinal de datos panel para la muestra de fincas productoras de leche. Resultados: el estudio permitió establecer que el esquema de pago por calidad (PPC) actual, el PPC rezagado y el precio pagado al productor (PPP) tienen efecto significativo en la disminución de los recuentos microbiológicos de la leche. El precio del gramo de sólidos y la cantidad de sólidos por litro son significativas e incrementan los recuentos microbiológicos de la leche. Conclusiones: se concluyó que es recomendable incrementar la participación de las bonificaciones por UFC sobre el precio total, pues esto incentivaría a una mejora más rápida de la calidad higiénica. Introduction: Given that milk price fluctuations have an impact on local milk production, which affects a vital sector for the economy due to its contribution to GDP and the generation of direct and indirect jobs, this study seeks to establish what has been the effect of monetary incentives on the quality of milk from 164 dairy farms in the Ubaté and Chiquinquirá valley between March 2012 and March 2018. Methodology: To answer this question, it is hypothesized that the implementation of the quality payment scheme described in Resolution 0017 of 2012 positively affected the values with which the hygienic quality of milk is measured. To test this hypothesis, a mixed approach methodology was used (qualitative and quantitative), descriptive, correlational and explanatory, non-experimental, using a longitudinal model of panel data for the sample of milk producing farms. Results: The study allowed establishing that the current quality payment scheme (QPP), the lagged QPP and the price paid to the producer (PPP) have significant effect on decreasing milk microbiological counts, the price per gram of solids and the amount of solids per liter are significant increase milk microbiological counts. Conclusions: It was possible to conclude that it is advisable to increase the participation of bonuses per CFU on the total price, this would incentivize a faster improvement of hygienic quality.

Resumen: Introducción y objetivos: La calidad de la colonoscopia se mide por el grado en el que el procedimiento eleva la probabilidad de obtener resultados adecuados sobre la salud. Nuestro objetivo fue desarrollar un instrumento para evaluar la calidad de las colonoscopias de tamizaje, considerando el desempeño de los endoscopistas y las unidades endoscópicas. Materiales y métodos: Se empleó una metodología mixta. La primera etapa (cualitativa) consistió en una búsqueda en Medline, a partir de la cual un grupo de expertos desarrolló los ítems de la escala de calidad. La segunda etapa (cuantitativa) utilizó una técnica Delphi modificada hasta llegar a consenso (3 rondas) y evaluamos las propiedades psicométricas del instrumento (confiabilidad y validez de constructos) en colonoscopias de tamizaje electivo (en pacientes ≥ 50 años), entre enero y abril de 2017. Resultados: Se generó un instrumento final con 8 ítems: 1) puntaje de la Escala de Preparación Intestinal de Boston; 2) tasa de intubación cecal; 3) tiempo de retirada de colonoscopia; 4) documentación en imágenes; 5) tasa de detección de adenomas; 6) planeación de vigilancia endoscópica; 7) tasa de perforación, y 8) programas de mejora continua. Introducción: La fuerza muscular tanto en hombres como en mujeres adultos es un predictor de morbilidad, mortalidad y cardio metabólico, además de ser un indicador de impacto en la calidad de vida y funcionalidad emocional del individuo. Objetivo: Analizar la relación que existe entre la fuerza muscular determinada por la prensión manual y la calidad de vida determinada mediante el instrumento Impact of Weight on Quality of Life (IWQOL). Metodología: El diseño que se aplicó fue analítico, observacional, no experimental y de corte transversal. Resultados: La fuerza muscular evidencia una correlación inversamente proporcional con el IMC; a medida que aumenta el IMC disminuye la masa muscular (r=-0.511; p=0.001), con un coeficiente de determinación (r2=026), de esta manera la variabilidad de la fuerza muscular está dada en un 26% por el índice de masa corporal. La calidad de vida determinada mediante el instrumento IWQOL y la fuerza muscular determinada por la prensión manual muestran una correlación directamente proporcional (r=0.227; p=0.049). Conclusión: Existe una relación positiva entre la fuerza muscular determinada por la presión manual y la calidad de vida en mujeres adultas.

Service quality is commonly measured with instruments that use the Likert scale, which corresponds to a qualitative variable (ordinal or nominal) that in turn is associated with a quantitative one (discrete or continuous). This approximation allows performing operations and comparisons but has generated controversy over statistical management and data interpretation. Nevertheless, an analysis based only on the nominal scale -leaving aside the typical numerical one- may be performed. This study proposes measuring and comparing service quality in a hotel using two different assessment scales: numerical interval and nominal. The perception of hotel service quality was measured during three holiday seasons and contrasted using non-parametric hypothesis tests to observe significant changes when it was valued with a numerical interval and nominal scale. The results show that service quality among holiday seasons contrasts according to the type of stopover. The nominal scale revealed information that the numerical interval could not show, providing some advantages for service quality assessment.

We report results based on studies involving Higher Education professors, aiming to present aspects of their standings on the question of readings of basic bibliographies of Courses by graduation students. We emphasize, in this article, notes of professors who establish relations between Graduation and Post-Graduation in relation to readings. This is an exploratory study, based on bibliographical and empirical data, surveyed especially through semi-structured interviews. The participators present diverse standings on this topic, perceived as one the key components and also one of the main challenges of academic-scientific formation nowadays. The readings are characterized as a controversial and urgent theme, because of its relations with the quality of both Graduation and Post-Graduation.

The Water Quality Index (WQI) is a simple and easy-to-understand tool for analyzing and reporting quality trends. Water quality is not static and depends on multiple factors, in this sense; globally various indices have been developed based on local water quality criteria. This paper explores and discusses about water quality assessment and their steps taking into account the widely used index models in the world. These steps include selecting the parameters, sub-index generation, weightings of the parameters, and sub-indices aggregation. The advantages and disadvantages of each index identified, and the main limitations that arise in the calculation of the different methodologies detected. These limitations are the subjectivity in selecting and weighing the parameters and the ambiguity and eclipsing in the aggregation stage. Objective methodological tools to solve these limitations consider the use of statistical and fuzzy logic techniques. The CCMEWQI is a versatile water quality index, since it allows the determination of the temporal and spatial conditions for the different uses in a specific way, achieving with regulations, and based on the analysis of monitoring data for each region.

Most gravity-filtration coffee preparation methods constitute good alternatives for obtaining coffee with varying acidity, bitterness, and bodies. The present study identifies the composition of compounds with antioxidant capacities and cup profiles for coffee beverages prepared using eight gravity-filtration methods. UV-visible spectrophotometry and high-performance liquid chromatography quantified antioxidants, hydroxycinnamic acids, and antioxidant activity. A qualitative descriptive analysis was performed using an expert panel to establish the sensory quality. The methods that yielded the highest total phenol and flavonoid concentrations were Chemex, Siphon, and Silvertone. The Silvertone, Siphon, and Neapolitan methods had the most condensed tannin content. The maximum hydroxycinnamic acid content was found with the Siphon and Neapolitan methods. Antioxidant capacity was evaluated by the ABTS (antioxidant capacity of the cationic radical 2,2-Azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid), ORAC (OxygenRadical Absorption Capacity), and FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) methods and found to be the highest with the Silvertone, Siphon, and Neapolitan methods. The preparation methods with the highest sensorial scores were Silvertone and Chemex, whilethe lowest sensorial acceptance level was found with the Cloth filter method. Beverages made with the Kalita and Drip methods showed the lowest antioxidant compound expressions. The most predominant hydroxycinnamic acid was chlorogenic acid in the eight preparations studied. We thus recommend that coffee be consumed following preparation with the Silvertone, Siphon, or Neapolitan methods to increase antioxidant consumption in the diet. Should the consumer prefer bitter notes, these may be found with the Silvertone preparation method; otherwise, one may enjoy acidic notes in coffee beverages with the Siphon and Neapolitan methods.

Sandstones have been widely used in construction for their abundance, aesthetics, and ease of extraction. To determine sandstones’ quality, it is essential to analyse their petrographic and petrophysical properties and sensitivity (durability and conservation) to environmental agents. This paper evaluates the physical-mechanical changes undergone by Sierra de la Demanda (Burgos, Spain) sandstone under combined and induced water and salt aggression and assesses ESTEL 1100’s effectiveness and suitability as a treatment. This sandstone is porous, permeable, dense and quartz-rich with high hardness and strength. The treatment improved its petrophysical properties by modifying its pore geometry and connectivity, reducing absorbency, permeability and anisotropy, and further increasing its hardness and resistance. Salts did not substantially modify its properties as its porosity type absorbed the crystallisation pressure. Ultimately, its pore system and predominantly quartz composition make it a high-quality, weather-resistant material compatible with the treatment applied.

The Residences of the Royal House of Savoy in Piedmont entered the World Heritage List in 1997: they are elements of a serial site, monumental architecture, gardens and parks, which characterise the former capital city (Turin) and a vast extra-urban territorial segment, on which many restoration and valorisation policies have focused in recent years. However, in their heterogeneity, each of the assets reveals some unresolved spaces, which institutional protection must oversee and simultaneously express particular cultural potential. The contribution aims to illustrate projects developed in contact with the management reality of some of these Residences, in particular Aglié, Govone and Racconigi, in agreement with the preservation institutes and owners. Cogent issues in the debate on restoration emerge, such as, among others, the search for a balance between conservation and innovation and the pursuit of quality in intervention, in the face of a renewed cultural demand affected by the difficult historical period we are going through.

The paper deals with a Document prepared by an expert group, chaired by the author, established by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) under the mandate of the European Commission. The action took place in the framework of the flagship EU Initiative of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018: “Cherishing heritage: developing quality standards for EU-funded projects that have the potential to impact on cultural heritage”. The main objective of the “Document on quality principles for EU-funded interventions on cultural heritage”, is to provide guidance for all stakeholders directly or indirectly engaged in EU-funded heritage conservation and management (European institutions, managing authorities, international organisations, civil society and local communities, private sector, and experts).

This research (1) analyzed the content of Pb and Cd in water and sediment; (2) analyzed physical and chemical parameters in water; (3) determined the enrichment factor and accumulation index of Pb and Cd in sediments; and (4) to identified water quality based on the Pollution Index (IP) and STORET. The analysis was carried out using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and Pearson's correlation, and was conducted in the downstream section of the Musi River, Palembang, using a random sampling technique. Based on the analysis, it was found that the content of Pb and Cd in the waters had surpassed the quality standard whereas the contents of both heavy metals found in the sediment still met the quality standard. It was also found that several variables of the physical and chemical parameters did not meet the criteria. Based on the Enrichment Factor (EF) and the Accumulation Index (Igeo) of Pb and Cd, the river had not been defiled. The pollution index values of both IP and STORET indicated that the water had been heavily polluted. Based on the PCA, three factors which affected the quality of the river water were found.

The COVID-19 crisis had a huge impact on education and became the subject of many scientific studies. The purpose of the paper is to investigate the opinions of professors and students on the quality of teaching and satisfaction with e-learning during the COVID-19 crisis. The aim of the research is to answer the question to what extent professors and students are satisfied with the quality of e-learning in higher education institutions, as well as their expectations in the future. The research was created on the research platform 1KA and conducted in the period from November 12, 2021 to February 12, 2022 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A survey questionnaire was used as a research instrument, which was sent to 192 addresses, 101 publics and 91 private faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and included 132 professors and 202 students. The results of the research showed that the quality of teaching is positively influenced by the satisfaction and level of usefulness of the tools used among professors, but also among students. The results also confirmed that more work experience leads to lower e-learning expectations in the future. The paper presents empirical research that was conducted on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina about the impact of COVID-19 on the quality of e-learning. The scientific contribution of the paper is reflected in the fact that it can be used in research related to the impact of crises on teaching in higher education institutions, as well as potential future emergency situations of crisis and uncertainty that result in new models of teaching that combine classroom and e-teaching.

Los Servicios de Admisión y Documentación Clínica (SADC) nacen en los hospitales españoles del Servicio Nacional de Salud en el año 1989, con el objetivo de normalizar y unificar las funciones que se desarrollaban en las Unidades de Admisión y en los Servicios de Documentación y Archivo. Se presenta la base legislativa de este Servicio, su organigrama, el perfil profesional de los médicos, sus competencias y la aportación del SADC del Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda (Madrid) en la consecución del sello 500+ de la European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM).

Thus, one of the biggest challenges for Brazil is to associate economic development with agricultural production at the same time as seeking to reduce environmental impacts on natural resources. At the global level, the environmental crisis is an issue that has generated widespread debates in developed and developing countries. In turn, it has a significant influence on the choice or continuance of trading partners. In this sense, the poor environmental management of nations has been observed and questioned, as in the European Union and Mercosur frameworks. In this way, it can be seen that it is necessary for Brazil to reconcile economic development, which strongly depends on the agricultural sector, with environmental protection and conservation. Horizonte Stream in the district of Rive, municipality of Alegre, state of Espírito Santo, is just one of the water resources that have been polluted due to the lack of a sustainable vision of the environment. Thus, the lack of definition of public policies makes it necessary to adopt environmental protection measures aimed at this stream. Among the existing possibilities is payment for environmental services (PES). The main ideas of PES are the recognition of good environmental practices and corresponding financial rewards. Thus, the general objective of this work was to evaluate the willingness of residents of the district of Rive to contribute financially for environmental services, corresponding to the protection, recovery and conservation of the micro-basin of Horizonte Stream in the stretch in the Rive District. Methodologically, the adapted contingent valuation method (CVM) was used. This method basically asks people what they are willing to pay (DaP) for an environmental benefit. Thus, to determine the willingness of residents to pay for environmental services, questionnaires were applied to a sample of 10% of the residents of the district in order to identify their acceptance of sustainable protection through investment in the recovery of Horizonte Stream. Regarding the amount to be charged, most respondents indicated R$ 2.00 as the payment they would be willing to add to their monthly water bill to support a program to recover the quality of water in the stream.

This study aimed to evaluate the occurrence of injuries in bovine carcasses slaughtered in the northwest of São Paulo, through the quantification of the number of these injuries and their location in the main Brazilian commercial courts. Five ranchers were randomly selected, differentiated by the acronyms PEC A (rancher A), PEC B (rancher B), PEC C (rancher C), PEC D (rancher D) and PEC E (rancher E), which totaled 333 evaluated carcasses. The results showed that the majority of the slaughtered animals were of the Nellore breed and females of different age groups. There was a variation in the fasting period and water diet established for the animals, with the PEC C being the shortest period and in the others the variation was 10 to 16 hours. As for the injuries, it was possible to observe that the greater the distance covered, the greater the percentage of injuries in the half carcasses, with the rear quarter being more affected, especially the thigh, followed by the rump. Factors such as age and duration of transport positively influenced the percentage of injuries and even with the intense discussions and quality programs aimed at the application of animal welfare, the bovine half carcasses analyzed in the present study showed a high incidence of injuries.

Cold pressed oil was produced from milk thistle seeds, and its composition and sensorial properties were determined. The seeds were found to contain 14.98% oil, 17.31% protein and 4.14% ash. The peroxide value of the oil (11.39 meqO2/kg oil) was within acceptable limits according to codex, but the free fatty acidity value (3.45%) exceeded the limit. The oil melted at -20.18 °C and crystallized at -3.71 °C. Linoleic acid (51.97%), β-sitosterol (67.56 mg/100 g oil) and γ-tocopherol (53.60 mg/kg oil) were determined as the main components, respectively. Six sensory descriptive terms (sweet, spicy, raw vegetable, straw, roasted and throat-catching) were described for the oil. Consumer tests proved that cold-pressed milk thistle seed oil had intermediate acceptance scores and consumer satisfaction was moderate. In conclusion, it is thought that milk thistle seeds could be used for the production of edible gourmet oil. Further studies regarding the composition of the bio-active molecules in the oil are anticipated.

The present study deals with a statistical analysis of the production process in an organization in the food sector, specifically, in the branch of roots. In addition, this study is characterized by the use of a hybrid analysis with the fusion of qualitative and quantitative aspects in order to improve the generation of knowledge as well as to facilitate the interpretation of the results obtained. As a work methodology, the control chart by variable was developed from data collected during visits to the organization. The study also carries out an approach on the capacity indexes from the perspective of the cassava packaging process as well as an analysis of the percentage of items outside the specifications. It is worth mentioning the use of the Ishikawa diagram to identify root causes of process variability, in addition to proposing corrective measures for such causes. Finally, according to the analyzes carried out, the organization in question presented an efficient and quality product packaging process, since all samples were within the control limits established statistically and the percentage of items outside the specifications was showed reduced, meaning only approximately 3%.

Abstract The objective of this work was to determine the inheritance of beta-carotene content in melon (Cucumis melo). The AC-16 accession (Cucumis melo subsp. melo var. acidulus) – with a low beta-carotene content and white mesocarp – was crossed with the Vedrantais cultivar (C. melo subsp. melo var. cantalupensis) – with a high beta-carotene content and salmon colored mesocarp –, to obtain the F1, F2, BC1, and BC2 generations. The AC-16 and 'Vedrantais' parents, the F1 and F2 generations, and the BC1 and BC2 backcrosses of each parent were evaluated. The quantification of beta-carotene was carried out in a high-performance liquid chromatography system. Mean components related to the additive and dominance effects, additive and dominance variances, and heritability were estimated. The beta-carotene content was high in 'Vedrantais' (17.78 µg g-1) and low in AC-16 (0.34 µg g-1). The following results were observed: additive and dominance effects on the genetic control of the character, incomplete character dominance, estimated number of loci close to two, greater variance for segregating populations (F2 and backcrosses), and heritability values in the broad (87.75%) and narrow (64.19%) senses. The beta-carotene content in melon is controlled by a major effect gene, with additive and dominance effects associated with polygenes with additive effects.

Introduction and Objective: Clinical protocols are tools for the delivery of optimal and quality healthcare. However, there are often shortcomings in the quality of their design that invalidate their implementation. The aim of this study is to describe a systematic evaluation of clinical protocols, to analyse their quality in order to enable their implementation., Materials and Methods: Descriptive study that included the clinical protocols assessed by the Committee of Reviewers of Clinical Practice Recommendations and Health Technologies of a tertiary hospital during 11years of its existence between 2013 and 2023. The AGREE instrument was used to assess the quality of the protocols received, calculating standardised scores by item and domain, and categorising them into: a)excellent (90-100%), b)good (70-89%), c)improvable (50-69%), d)very improvable (30-49%), e)deficient (10-29%), and f)very deficient: 0-9%., Results: Of the 59 documents received by the Commission, 32 were subsidised for AGREE evaluation. The highest scoring domain was «Scope and objective», with excellent scores for 29 protocols; the remaining domains had scores ranging from 58.5%-100% for «Rigour in elaboration» and 0-100% for «Independence». By items, scores ranged from 85.7-100% for «Target users of the protocol are clearly defined» to 0-100% for the items «Potential costs of implementing recommendations» and «Conflict of interest». Of the 32 protocols, 9 were highly recommended, 22 were recommended with modifications/conditions and one was not recommended., Conclusions: The AGREE tool makes it possible to systematize both the drafting of clinical protocols by the authors and their evaluation by the Clinical Practice Recommendations and Health Technologies Review Committee. This makes it possible to have applicable and quality protocols in our hospital, which results in an improvement in the quality of healthcare., (Copyright © 2024 FECA. Context: Curcuma longa (turmeric) is extensively cultivated as spices and herbal medicines in tropical and sub-tropical countries. Geographical origin is known to significantly determine the quality of the herbs used and, consequently, the safety and efficacy of their products. Aims: To validate and develop TLC-fingerprint combined with chemometrics to differentiate C. longa collected from various origins. Methods: Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) was employed together with chemometric methods, i.e., Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluster Analysis (CA), to evaluate the quality of C. longa rhizomes collected from nine origins in Indonesia. Results: Chloroform, dichloromethane, and ethanol (64:64:1) were a suitable mobile phase for C. longa. The method used met the requirements for a stable and precise TLC system. As analyzed by the chemometric techniques, the TLC-fingerprints could discriminate C. longa from various origins. The PCA score plot of the first two principal components (PCs) and CA clearly distinguished two clusters of simples. Conclusions: When combined with PCA and CA, TLC-fingerprinting can discern the rhizomes of C. longa sourcedfrom various locations. TLC-fingerprints that are analyzed with chemometrics can be used as an alternative marker-oriented method for evaluating the quality of C. longa.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of cladode pruning on apical dominance in the production and post-harvest of pitaya fruits. The experiment was carried out at the Sítio das Pitaya do Pará, which is in the city of Tomé-Açu, State of Pará, Brazil. A randomized block design (RBD) in a 3 x 2 factorial scheme was used, with four replications for each treatment. Treatments consisted of three stand positions in the field (beginning, middle, and end of row) and two pruning regimes (with and without pruning). The interaction of factors Pruning and Stand position (P*SP) inhibited sprouting, while the Pruning factor provided heavier fruits and with a better pulp/peel ratio. Thus, cladode pruning provided benefits to plant management, production parameters, and post-harvest quality.

The cooling of olives stored in containers with a capacity of 400 kg risk accumulation of respiration heat and subsequent fruit deterioration. Pre-cooling the fruit to 5 °C before cold storage was studied as a possible solution to overcome this obstacle. The fruit temperature within the containers was recorded daily for 14 days and oil was extracted at days 0, 4, 8, and 14. A second experiment evaluated a rapid pre-cooling procedure at -18 °C for 3 min. No significant alterations at the level of the examined parameters were recorded. The internal temperature of the control container declined and stabilized at around 12 °C. The temperature of the pre-cooled fruit increased to up to 8 °C. The examined parameters showed no significant alterations in either experiment and the rapid pre-cooling treatment did not lead to any visible ‘chill injuries’. A pre-cooling treatment at 5 °C was successfully introduced at the farm of a small producer.

The production of Voluntary Geographic Information has been growing considerably and continues to be an active area of research. However, the lack of knowledge about the quality of information generated on a voluntary and participatory basis raises challenges and questions about its use. In the review carried out for the Colombian case, no studies related to the subject were identified; consequently, this study is presented on the evaluation of the quality of this type of information on the road network of Bogotá with respect to completeness, positional accuracy and thematic accuracy. This evaluation was carried out by means of a semi-automatic process that uses a mobile buffer and the centroid of the roads to make the corresponding comparisons between two data sources. The results found reveal that the method used allowed to compare up to 85.0% of the data, and that the OpenStreetMap mesh has a completeness of 85.4%, over the entire area of Bogotá. A positional accuracy of 3.98 m and a thematic accuracy related to the percentage of error in the attributes: Road hierarchy, direction of flow and road naming of 35.8%, 15.0% and 34.6% respectively. The quality evaluated through completeness, positional and thematic accuracy in synergistic terms is deficient with respect to the minimum quality levels established in the standard data model, however, the evaluation for each of the attributes shows an acceptable quality in terms of completeness and thematic accuracy.

La Dirección de Servicios Técnicos de la Universidad de La Habana es la encargada de ofrecer los servicios relacionados con las TIC que precisa la comunidad universitaria para su funcionamiento y desarrollo. En el presente trabajo se aborda la interrogante: ¿cómo garantizar que estos servicios se brinden con la calidad requerida y demandada por la comunidad universitaria? La propuesta considera la complementariedad entre la asistencia técnica, la tecnología abierta y la tercerización de los servicios como la vía fundamental para alcanzar este objetivo. Se discuten los conceptos asociados a este paradigma y se demuestra su relevancia para lograr la estabilidad y la efectividad de los servicios informáticos. Se demuestra lo imprescindible de este enfoque en el entorno tecnológico cubano, afectado gravemente por el bloqueo de Estados Unidos; así como la urgencia de garantizar un servicio de calidad ante las demandas incrementadas por la COVID 19. Se realiza una investigación de carácter mixto.

La calidad en la educación es un tema recurrente en esta sociedad donde la formación de profesionales competentes es un elemento esencial frente a las crecientes demandas del mercado. La competitividad, dada por la multivariedad de ofertas educativas, junto con el rol histórico que tienen las universidades como gestoras de conocimiento, impulsa a las universidades a centrarse en un proceso permanente de reflexión y análisis acerca del cumplimiento de sus objetivos institucionales y del grado de efectividad medido en la satisfacción de sus principales clientes, es decir, sus estudiantes. En este contexto, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo otorgar información para establecer prioridades de gestión financiera e institucional desde el grado de satisfacción de los estudiantes de la Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins aplicando la metodología de modelación de ecuaciones factoriales, buscando relaciones entre diferentes áreas de satisfacción, con métodos multivariados como el análisis factorial. Se ha empleado el método de consistencia interna basado en la medida KMO y la prueba de esfericidad de Bartlett. Finalmente, el estudio ha logrado modelar un sistema derivado del comportamiento de respuestas de estudiantes y docentes.|| Quality in education is a recurring theme in this society where the training of competent professionals is an essential element for their progress and development in the face of growing market demands. The competitiveness given by the multivariety of educational offerings, together with the historical role of universities as knowledge managers, drives universities to focus on a permanent process of reflection and analysis about the fulfillment of their institutional objectives and the degree of effectiveness measured in the satisfaction of their main clients, that is, their students. In this context, this research aims to establish priorities for financial and institutional management from the degree of satisfaction of university students at Bernardo O'Higgins University by applying the methodology of modeling structural equations, based on variances, seeking relationships between different areas of satisfaction, with multivariate methods factorial analysis. For these purposes, the internal consistency method based is given by the average of the correlations between the items in order to estimate the reliability of his instrument. Finally, it should be pointed out that the study has managed to model a system derived from the response behaviour of students and teachers at the Universidad Bernardo O´Higgins.

Watercore is the presence of a vitrified texture intruded in the pulp of the fruit. It is found in fruits from different genus and families; and it has been studied in apples. Watercore was described, in apples, as a texture with differential sensorial characteristics in relationship with the ordinary pulp, and its presence is currently considered a defect in apple production, causing economic losses. In this study, it is described as a dichotomous descriptor. We analysed 641 apples from a region belonging to Central Spain (Guadarrama mountain range and the close Tagus Basin River); it was found that around 30% of those apples shown this characteristic, being practically all of them from landraces. Studies related to traditional cultivars do not analyze such characteristic, considered up today as a defect. Nevertheless, we discuss that watercore can have some potential as it gives to apple a distinct appearance and aroma, all of them of value in differential quality and international seal protection. As a result, we conclude our preliminary analysis that it is highly recommended to take into consideration watercore as a descriptor in apple characterizations.

Schools are extraordinary laboratories of citizenship where students can learn to take a position, express their opinions and play an active role in the life of the community to which they belong with an openness to global challenges. Moreover, the need for a fair and quality education for all, enabling children to become people capable of acting in today’s complex and global reality, is expressed in numerous national, European and international documents. Therefore, it is necessary to ask ourselves which teaching practices can be used to foster a habitus oriented towards the exercise of citizenship rights in terms of participation in the social, political, cultural and economic life of one’s own living environment. Teaching through a community of inquiry inspired by Matthew Lipman and Ann M. Sharp’s Philosophy for Children could be the operational response to the urgent need to educate future citizens who are aware and able of taking part in public life in the name of democracy.

This research was carried out in Puerto La Boca, Manabí province, Ecuador, in 2019. The objective was to obtain hybrid F1 melon seed under greenhouse conditions. For the development of this research, a plot was implemented in a 500 m2 greenhouse in a randomized complete block experimental design with three repetitions and two treatments (A1: Plants with pruning and A2: Plants without pruning). The response variables were: plant height (m), stem diameter (mm), number of nodes before fruit, number of nodes after the fruit, fruit volume (cm3), fruit weight (g), number of live seeds, number of dead seeds, the weight of seeds with the embryo (g), and a cost/benefit estimate using partial budgets. The results showed that the best average fruit weight, number of live seeds, and viable seed weight was for the pruning treatment. The partial budget analysis showed that seed production was highly profitable for the treatments evaluated with a cost-benefit ratio B/C> 1, with the pruning treatment being the best. Pruning improved melon F1 hybrid seed production, as well as fruit quality.
