Abstract

Caso clínico: Paciente de 25 años, miope magno que en dos años fue diagnosticado de neovascularización coroidea en ambos ojos de forma metacrónica, secundarias a coroidopatía punctata interna, que provocaban pérdida de visión y metamorfopsias. El primer ojo es tratado con cuatro inyecciones de ranibizumab tras terapia fotodinámica, el segundo sólo con dosis de carga de ranibizumab. Se consiguió la inactividad en ambos con buena agudeza visual final. Discusión: El ranibizumab es útil en el tratamiento de esta patología. Se precisan estudios prospectivos para investigar la utilidad de la asociación con terapias adyuvantes, como la terapia fotodinámica. Clinic case: A 25 year old patient with high myopia diagnosed of metachronic choroidal neovascularisation in both eyes secondary to punctate inner choroidopathy leading to visual impairment and metamorphopsia. First eye was treated with four injections of ranibizumab after photodynamic therapy and the second eye only with charge dose of ranibizumab, reaching inactivity with good final visual acuity in both eyes. Discussion: Ranibizumab is useful in the treatment of this illness. Prospective studies are needed to investigate the usefulness of a combination with adjuvant therapies such as photodynamic therapy.

Abstract

Case Report: Punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC) is a variant of multifocal choroiditis that principally affects young and healthy women. A case of this condition is described in a woman who presented with a scotoma as the main complaint. Four months after the diagnosis of PIC, she developed an exudative neurosensory detachment associated with an active focus of juxtafoveal choroiditis. Finally, with systemic corticosteroids and intravitreal ranibizumab, she made excellent progress., Discussion: Intravitreal ranibizumab, associated with systemic corticosteroids, may be an effective treatment for exudative neurosensory detachment complicating PIC., (Copyright © 2016 Sociedad Española de Oftalmología. Abstract

Case Report: We report the case of a 28-year old woman suffering loss of visual acuity in her left eye, who presented an image suggestive of a subretinal neovascular membrane in her left eye, and bilateral retinal lesions compatible with punctate inner choroidopathy (PIC). She was treated with intravitreal ranibizumab obtaining excellent results., Discussion: The differential diagnosis must be made between PIC and the rest of "white dot syndromes" and the presumed ocular histoplasmosis syndrome (POHS). Antiangiogenic drugs may be a good alternative for the treatment of such diseases when they develop a subretinal neovascular membrane., (Copyright © 2011 Sociedad Española de Oftalmología.
