The general objective of this work is to reflect on the phenomenon of The Baby Café as a novel and convenient concept in a world of promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding worldwide. The Baby Café is an initiative to support breastfeeding that coordinates an international network of centers that combines formal support from health professionals who specialize in lactation with informal support groups or networks of breastfeeding. With the ultimate goal of the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding, the introduction of The Baby Café initiative encourages more studies of such nature to be conducted, eventually demonstrating the true impact of such initiatives on society; we have developed, through the theoretical framework and a field diary, a qualitative study, which has allowed us to explore the phenomenon of the Baby Cafe in the 10th district of Singapore, during the month of March 2015.

ABSTRACT Several factors contribute to the effective integration of migrants into the United States of America (U.S.), and among these is education. Educated migrants find transition to the U.S. infinitely more effective than those without education. While English language competence is essential, literacy in one’s native language increases the likelihood of acquiring English language literacy. Equal access to public education is the right of every child in the U.S., regardless of citizenship or migration status. Under law, all children between age six and sixteen years are required to be enrolled in school. College education, on the other hand, is accessible only to those with citizenship or legal visa or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status. This paper explores the educational level of immigrants in the U.S. and discusses the governmental and nongovernmental resources that can be utilized to increase the likelihood of successful functioning in the country. RESUMO Vários fatores contribuem para a efetiva integração dos migrantes nos Estados Unidos da América (EUA), e entre eles está a educação. Os imigrantes com uma formação vivem a mudança para os EUA de forma infinitamente mais eficaz do que aqueles sem formação. Se a competência em língua inglesa é essencial, a literacia na língua nativa aumenta a probabilidade de adquirir uma literacia em língua inglesa. O acesso igualitário à educação pública é um direito de cada criança nos Estados Unidos, independentemente da sua nacionalidade ou do seu estatuto de imigrante. Segundo a lei, todas as crianças entre os seis e os dezasseis anos de idade são obrigadas a ser matriculadas na escola. ABSTRACT Data were collected from 36 does and 116 kits recorded in a 2 X 2 factorial experiment in CRD over a period of 12 weeks from artificial insemination and natural mating of 18 Newzealand white and 18 chinchilla does respectively to investigate the effect of breed and breeding system on the reproductive performance of rabbits. Analysis of data showed that breed had no significant effect (p>0.05) on most of reproductive traits measured. The statistical similarity (p>0.05) between both strains of rabbits may be attributed to indiscriminate breeding of rabbits and lack of pure breed. Percent conception was significantly (p0.05). Breeding system had a significant effect on average kit weight when artificial insemination was practiced, while other post-partum litter traits were not significant (p>0.05). This paper explores the aspect of polyphony in Salman Rushdie’s novelMidnight’s Children (1981). The essence of polyphony in a novel, following Mikhail Bakhtin, is the presence or use of different independent voices that are not merged into one dominant voice. The author, the protagonist, the narrator, the various other characters, the reader, the form and the content of the text, and even the voices from the world outside the text, all these participate in the polyphony. We are invited to explore multiple, co-existing meanings rather than to find a single, finalized meaning. In our age of rapid changes in concepts, styles, modes of representation, and technology, it is more profitable to direct our attention to multiple realities rather than to look for one definitive, unchanging meaning. Since the entities engaged in the polyphony take on different roles and voices in different contexts of time, space, and culture, the voices we hear in the polyphony multiply. We come to see that reality can have different meanings. Reading a novel such as Midnight’s Children as a polyphony or dialogue among different voices can serve as an analogy for a mode that we can adopt in our attempts to understand reality.Este ensaio analisa a polifonia no romance Midnight’s Children (1981),de Salman Rushdie. De acordo como Mikhail Bakhtin, a essência da polifonia é a presença ou o uso de vozes diferentes e independentes que não se misturam numa única voz dominante. O autor, o protagonista, o narrador, os vários personagens, o leitor, a forma e ocontexto do texto e até as vozes de fora do texto participam nesta polifonia. Exploram-se, portanto, os sentidos múltiplos e coexistentes; rechaça-se a procura de um significado unívoco e definitivo. Numa época de grandes mudanças em conceitos, estilos, modos de representação e tecnologia, seria muito melhor direcionar nossa atenção às múltiplas realidades do que procurar um sentido imutável. Já que os personagens na polifonia assumem papéis e vozes diferentes em diferentes contextos de tempo, espaço e cultura,multiplicam-se as vozes ouvidas na polifonia. A realidade assume vários sentidos e a leitura de Midnight’s Children como um romance polifônico ou como diálogo entre vozes diferentes servirá como analogia para uma modalidade que podemos adotar para entender a realidade.

Protein-restriction or deficiency is associated with many pathological disorders. We have made an attempt to study the effect of marginal tryptophan deficiency and supplementation of adequate tryptophan on the activity of antioxidant enzymes in the liver and neuronal tissue of rats. Marginal tryptophan deficiency was created in the animals (group-C) by feeding them with diet consisting of casein (6%) and gelatin (12%). Control animals (group-A) received 20% casein in their diet. Another set of animals (group-B) received the marginal tryptophan deficient diet with 0.05% tryptophan. We have observed a decrease in body weight and organ development in the deficient animals. However, a protective mechanism has been observed in the tryptophan deficient animals thatreceived 0.05% tryptophan. Biochemical studies have shown a decrease in protein content, reduced glutathione (GSH) levels, activities of catalase, glutathione-s-tranferase (GSTs) and tryptophan-fluorescence in tryptophan deficient rats. There is an increase in lipid peroxidation and AGE-fluorescence suggesting the oxidative stress due to tryptophan deficiency. However, in deficient rats that received 0.05% tryptophan in diet there was an increase in protein content, glutathione levels, catalase, glutathione-s-tranferase (GSTs) levels, tryptophan-fluorescence and inhibition in AGE-fluorescence and lipid peroxidation. Our findings suggest that adequate tryptophan administration to tryptophan deficient animals has a protective influence as revealed in the activity levels of antioxidant enzymes in relation to deficient animals.La restricción o deficiencia de proteínas se asocian con muchos trastornos patológicos. Hemos intentado estudiar el efecto de una deficiencia marginal de triptófano y la complementación adecuada con triptófano sobre la actividad de enzimas antioxidantes del hígado y tejidos neurales de la rata. Bhishma Sahni भीष्मसाहनी (8 de agosto de 1915-11 de julio de 2003) fue un escritor en hindi, políglota, dramaturgo y actor, famoso por su novela Tamas (oscuridad), que le mereció, en 1975, el Premio Sahitya Akademi de literatura y que, en 1987, fue llevada a la pantalla grande por Govind Nihalani.¹ Fue galardonado con el Padma Bhushan² en 1998 y el Sahitya Akademi Fellowship en 2002, por su larga y destacada trayectoria en literatura. En India, las prácticas de discriminación ocasionadas por la intocabilidad se fundan en la creencia de que algunos humanos son impuros por nacimiento y deben ser separados del resto de la sociedad para evitar cualquier tipo de contacto contaminante. Abstract Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective α-2 agonist which has recently revolutionized our anesthesia and intensive care practice. An obstetric patient presented for emergency cesarean delivery under general anesthesia, with pre-eclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage. In carefully selected cases with refractory hypertension and postpartum hemorrhage, dexmedetomidine can be used for improving overall patient outcome. It was beneficial in controlling both the blood pressure and uterine bleeding during cesarean section in our patient.
