Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a detecção, o controle e a prevenção de fotobacteriose em cultivo de bijupirá. Essa doença é causada pela bactéria Photobacterium damselae, que, juntamente com outros fatores, pode estar sendo responsável pela estagnação no crescimento da produção nacional de bijupirá (Rachycentron canadum). Essa bactéria é considerada um dos principais patógenos de peixes marinhos cultivados, tendo sido responsável por importantes prejuízos econômicos em diversos países. No Brasil, essa bactéria ainda não recebeu a devida importância, apesar de já ter sido detectada como causadora de mortalidades nos cultivos de bijupirá. Photobacterium damselae possui duas subespécies, piscicida e damselae, que podem ser consideradas ameaças sanitárias, respectivamente, em relação à atividade econômica da piscicultura marinha e em relação à saúde humana. Neste trabalho, são apresentadas algumas estratégias de detecção, controle e prevenção. Enfatiza-se, também, a necessidade de um melhor acompanhamento sanitário nos cultivos de bijupirá e a importância da vacinação contra esse patógeno.

The barber goby Elacatinus figaro is considered endangered due to overexploitation by the ornamental industry. Farming marine ornamental fishes, especially the threatened ones, can be one of the measures to minimize the pressure on the natural stocks. Among the priority issues for their production is the determination of the most appropriate feeding management. The feeding protocol commonly used in the larviculture of barber goby, when the start of Artemia sp. offer occurred at the 18th DAH (days after hatching) (treatment T18), was modified, by anticipating brine shrimp supply in 6 days (treatment T12). Alkaline proteases activity, growth and metamorphosis of larvae were evaluated in both protocols. Juveniles at T12 showed higher weight (0.04 ± 0.001 g) and lower activity of total alkaline proteases (1.3 ± 0.2 mU mg-1 protein) compared to T18 (0.02 ± 0.001 g; 2.8 ± 0.4 mU mg-1 protein, respectively). With anticipation of brine shrimp, the commencing and end of larval transformation was observed earlier (at 24 and 34 DAH, respectively) in comparison to those with the supply of Artemia sp. at 18 DAH (27 and 41 DAH, respectively). Thus, the Artemia sp. anticipation was beneficial during the larviculture of the barber goby, considering that larvae reached metamorphosis earlier.

RESUMOA prática baseada em evidências se baseia na busca da melhor evidência científica disponível para fundamentar a solução de um problema e a tomada de decisão. Devido à complexidade e à quantidade de informações na área da saúde, há necessidade de integração dos artigos científicos de boa qualidade metodológica disponíveis partindo da revisão da literatura. Mesmo a aspiração endotraqueal sendo o procedimento invasivo mais realizado em recém-nascidos intubados em unidades de terapia intensiva neonatais, poucos são os estudos brasileiros de boa qualidade metodológica que fundamentam essa prática, não havendo consenso ou padronização da técnica nacionalmente. Em virtude do exposto, o objetivo do estudo foi revisar os estudos secundários sobre o assunto para estabelecer recomendações sobre a aspiração endotraqueal em recém-nascidos intubados, favorecendo a adoção do conceito de boas práticas na realização desse procedimento. Para tal, foi realizada uma revisão integrativa da literatura. A recomendação deste estudo é de que a aspiração endotraqueal em recém- nascidos seja realizada apenas quando houver sinais de secreção traqueal, não devendo ser realizada rotineiramente; que seja realizada por, no mínimo, duas pessoas; que o tempo de aspiração seja inferior a 15 segundos e a pressão de sucção inferior a 100mmHg negativos; que a hiperoxigenação não seja utilizada de maneira rotineira. Se indicada, é recomendada a oxigenação com fração inspirada de oxigênio 10 - 20% maior que a anterior, 30 - 60 segundos antes, durante e 1 minuto após o procedimento. Não deve ser realizada a instilação de solução salina rotineiramente e as normas para procedimentos invasivos devem ser respeitadas.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the selectivity of clomazone in two formulations and S-metolachlor applied on shoots of different sizes after pruning of 'Baianinha' cassava. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design in a factorial 5 x 2 (5 treatments x 2 sizes of shoots after pruning - 10 and 33 cm) with four replications. The herbicides evaluated were: clomazone (encapsulated suspension - 900 g h-1), clomazone (encapsulated suspension - 1,080 g ha-1), clomazone (emulsifiable concentrate 900 g ha-1), S-metolachlor (1,920 g ha-1) and an untreated control. During the experiment, all plots were kept free of weed interference by hand weeding. It was concluded that both the formulations of clomazone and S-metolachlor were selective when applied on both the shoot sizes evaluated. However, the application of S-metolachlor on 33 cm shoots gave higher selectivity to 'Baianinha' cassava plants.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho zootécnico e econômico de robalo-peva (Centropomus parallelus) alimentado com seis rações práticas, contendo diferentes concentrações proteicas. As dietas foram formuladas para conter as seguintes concentrações proteicas: 375, 395, 416, 438, 473 e 490 g kg-1. Cada dieta foi fornecida até a saciedade aparente duas vezes ao dia, por 90 dias. Ao final do experimento, a composição corporal dos peixes alimentados com as diferentes dietas não diferiu significativamente. O ganho em peso variou de 2,87±0,09 a 4,74±0,02 g, da menor para a maior concentração proteica. A concentração proteica de 490 g kg-1 levou à redução de 2,86±0,13 R$ kg-1 no custo médio de alimentação, ao aumento de 97,82±4,25% no índice de eficiência econômica, e à redução de 102,91±4,58% no índice de custo. A dieta com a maior concentração proteica e a relação energia/proteína de 7,27 Mcal kg-1 promove os melhores índices zootécnicos e econômicos para juvenis de robalo-peva.

This study reports a disease outbreak among juvenile cobia (Rachycentron canadum) farmed in cages in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, caused by the dinoflagellate Amyloodinium ocellatum and the monogenean Neobenedenia melleni. Two thousand five hundred fish were stocked at 0.4 kg/m3 in a set of 12 m3 tanks, in autumn (mean weight 15.0 ± 7.3 g) and in winter (mean weight 43.0 ± 5.6 g). Freshwater baths were administered as a routine treatment, as the symptoms were detected followed by two collection samples. Firstly in May 2011 (n = 5) and secondly in September 2011 (n = 10). In the first sample, the prevalence of N. mellenion the body surface was 100% and the mean intensity was 42.0 ± 1.7, while in the second sample the prevalence was 60% with a mean intensity 3.0 ± 0.2 and mean abundance 1.8 ± 0.4. Amyloodinium ocellatum was only found in the second sample, at a prevalence 100% and mean intensity 46.8 ± 3.4. The cause of fish mortality was possibly associated with a decrease in fish resistance after the first contact with monogenean parasites, allied with respiratory difficulty caused by the presence of A. ocellatum in the gills.

This study evaluated the correlation of hematological parameters with the mean abundance of the monogenean helminth Rhabdosynochus rhabdosynochus in Centropomus undecimalis reared at different temperatures and salinities. The experimental conditions were: 28 °C/0 ppt (parts per thousand); 28 °C/15 ppt; 28 °C/32 ppt; 25 °C/0 ppt; 25 °C/15 ppt; and 25 °C/32 ppt. The prevalence was 100.0% in fish at 28 °C/15 ppt, 28 °C/32 ppt and 25 °C/15 ppt, which was significantly different (p < 0.05) from those at 25 °C/32 ppt. The red blood cell (RBC) count, hematocrit and total leukocyte (WBC) count were significantly higher in fish at 28 °C/15 ppt and 28 °C/32 ppt. The mean abundance of R. rhabdosynochus, hematocrit and RBC showed positive correlations (P < 0.05) with temperature (ρ= 0.3908; ρ= 0.4771 and ρ = 0.2812). Mean abundance showed negative correlations with hemoglobin (ρ= -0.3567) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) (ρ = -0.2684). No correlation between abundance and salinity was detected among the experimental conditions (ρ = -0.0204). The low numbers of monogeneans recorded (min -1 and max -33) explain the few changes to fish health. This suggests that these experimental conditions may be recommended for development of rearing of C. undecimalis in Brazil, without any influence or economic losses from R. rhabdosynochus.
