Los capítulos de imagen de la Asociación Nacional de Cardiólogos de México (ANCAM) y de la Sociedad Mexicana de Cardiología (SMC), así como personal del Departamento de Medicina y Nutrición de la Universidad de Guanajuato, en conjunto con destacados expertos de la imagen cardiovascular en México, han colaborado en la revisión, análisis y ampliación de las diversas estrategias sanitarias publicadas en los primeros 15 meses de la pandemia de enfermedad por coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) para realizar con seguridad los estudios de imagen cardiaca; esta actualización tiene como objetivo principal disminuir el riesgo de transmisión de la COVID-19 entre los pacientes y el personal de salud en los servicios de tomografía, resonancia y cardiología nuclear. This study describes the prevalence of patients with dentofacial deformities attended in the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Hospital de Especialidades del Centro Medico Nacional Siglo XXI of the IMSS, during January to December 2002. Twenty-six patients received postoperative laser therapy in the right area of the mandible ramus, after bilateral sagittal modified osteotomy (BSMKSO). The results with laser therapy showed less pain and edema in comparison other patients without this therapy. The results were carried out after 24 hours, 3 days, 8 days and 15 days, and after 10 treatments of laser therapy. The X-Ray and biopsy showed bone healing 30 days, six and eight weeks after orthognatic surgery procedures.

We courried out a retrospective study of 52 surgical cases of temporomandibular joint ankylosis, fibrous types I and II in 19 patients (36.4%) and osseous type III-IV in 33 patients (63.6%). Forty two children and teenagers at the Hospital de Pediatria (1983-1985/1989-1998) and Hospital General La Raza (1985-1989) were included also, 10 adults including those operated on at the Hospital de Especialidades, CMN Siglo XXI (IMSS) from 1998 to 2001 were included. We used Dunn modified method en 37 cases (67%) and 17 patients were with Risdon operated on technique (33%). Etiology of ankylosis were direct trauma to jaw, which affected temporomandibular joint mainly in children, while in adults causes were more varied and included as osteomyelitis, middle ear infection, sequels of hemifacial microsomy, and trauma results were considered as good upon obtaining mouth opening of 35 mm without neo-ankylosis during 1-year postoperative control.

A statistical study covering five years (1983-1987) of work by the Pediatric Orthognatic Surgery Clinic at pediatric hospitals in the Centro Médico Nacional and La Raza, Instituto Nacional del Seguro Social. The bases and rationale followed by the clinic to correct dentofacial deformities in patients under 15 are described, along with services involved and surgical procedures followed in 90 pediatric patients, as compared with 165 adult patients operated within that same period, favorably confirming the hypothesis propounded in practice.

A retrospective study of 331 orthognatic interventions on the mandible was performed; a total of 528 osteotomies were practiced, on which personal modification of the intraoral sagittal technique of the ascending branch of the mandible was implemented on 134 patients, both pediatric and adult, within the period 1983-1988. This paper describes surgical technique and modifications to Obwegesser's sagittal osteotomy, as well as the advantages gained by such procedure, which the author considers ideal for the reduction of mandibular prognatism in its four variants.
