Storytelling can enhance stakeholder engagement and support the implementation of the World Health Organization and Pan American Health Organization’s (PAHO) Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, which aims to improve care globally for children with cancer. The Initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, addressing health, education, inequalities and international collaboration. This report describes the design and implementation of a workshop that used storytelling through film to encourage stakeholders in national cancer control plans to engage with the Initiative in its focal countries in Central America, the Dominican Republic and Haiti. A six-step process was used to develop the virtual workshop hosted by PAHO: (i) define the audience; (ii) define the goals of storytelling; (iii) build an appropriate storyline, including choosing a platform and content, and addressing group dynamics and the length of the film; (iv) guide the workshop’s design and implementation with current theoretical frameworks, including the Socioecological Model of Health and the Theory of Change; (v) design interactive group exercises; and (vi) disseminate workshop results. The skills-building component of the day-long workshop included 80 representatives from eight countries in the Region of the Americas, with participants representing pediatric oncology, hospital administration, ministries of health, nonprofit foundations, the scientific community and public health organizations. Outputs from the workshop included (i) a summary report, (ii) an empathy word cloud with live reactions from participants, (iii) qualitative responses (i.e. quotes from participants), (iv) stakeholders’ analyses and (v) a prioritization matrix for country-level strategic activities that could be undertaken to strengthen health systems when caring for children with cancer. The workshop used storytelling through film to try to reduce health inequalities and have a regional impact. Combining art, public health and medicine, the workshop created positive change by sharing real-life experiences. Commitment was fostered among stakeholders through their engagement with the workshop, which aimed to increase their awareness of the need and advocacy to improve health systems and enhance access to health care for this vulnerable population.

Only a very rash person would attempt to define creativity in either the arts or science, let alone in both. There is no known recipe for creativity, no magic formula that opens the sluices of originality and guarantees a steady flow of new ideas and fresh insights. Indeed, we do not even know whether creativity is all kind and whether it can be meaningfully discussed under one general category. All we can legitimately do is describe creativity as it is manifested in various fields of human endeavour, from the creation of a beautiful poem to the invention of a new scientific theory. We tackle this problem in the first part of this article; in the second, we take a closer look at artistic and literary representation of science in Europe from the Renaissance to the Romanticism, and, in the third part, we examine the current situation.

Following in the footsteps of the Grim Brothers, a woman named Cecilia Francisca Josefa Böhl de Faber y Ruiz de Larrea set out to collect Andalusian folk tales under the pen name Fernán Caballero. Caballero was one of the first people to record folk tales—specifically those deriving from Spain—in writing, thus helping to shape the subsequent fairy tale genre that is ever-pervasive in modern-day society. However, while many translations have been derived from the collections of the Grimm Brothers and other male collectors, Caballero´s have received less attention from English translators. One notable exception to this rule can be found in the works of John H. Ingram, who translated one of Caballero’s folk tale anthologies that included the story Bella-Flor, a Spanish folk tale about the importance of (and ultimate triumph resulting from) being good. This paper analyzes the merit of Ingram’s translation through assessing both linguistic choices and cultural edits. Analyzing this specific translation seeks to contribute to the aim of discussing the wider issues of translating stories the fairy tale genre—specifically those less notorious in modern-day Western culture—as well as the linguistic and literary choices that must be made when translating works across time and space.

Introducción: El internado de pregrado es el aprendizaje supervisado de la práctica clí-nica, el primer contacto con pacientes y la atención médica en un escenario práctico. La literatura reporta que el nivel de satisfacción oscila entre el 61.9% y el 78%, destacando la adquisición de habilidades clínicas, formación práctica y experiencia laboral. Migraine continues second among the world's causes of disability. Diagnosis is based on the history and clinical examination and imaging is usually not necessary. Migraine can be subdivided depending on whether there is an aura or not and based on the frequency of the headaches. The number of headache days determines whether the patient has episodic migraine or chronic migraine. Treating migraines can be done to treatment the migraine itself and to prevent its appearance. In this review we approach the migraine from a practical point of view with updated information. Resumen: La migraña continúa siendo la segunda causa a nivel mundial de discapacidad. El diagnóstico se basa en la historia clínica y el examen clínico y las imágenes no suelen ser necesarias. La migraña se puede subdividir dependiendo de si hay un aura o no y según la frecuencia de la cefalea. El número de días con cefalea determina si el paciente tiene migraña episódica o migraña crónica. El tratamiento de las migrañas se puede realizar para tratar la migraña en sí y para prevenir su aparición. En esta revisión abordamos la migraña desde un punto de vista práctico con las últimas novedades.

The rapid identificationand isolation of COVID-19 patients has become the cornerstone for the control of the recent outbreak. Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction is routinely used to confirm COVID-19 diagnosis and is considered the gold standard due to high sensitivity and specificity. Nevertheless, it usually takes several days and a relatively higher cost. Antigen tests based have emerged to cope with such disadvantages, by offering rapid results, an easy-to-use procedure, and low costs. The objective of the narrative review was to provide up-to-date data about CE-marked rapid antigen tests (RATs) for COVID-19. Given their large number, the study only focused on representative and widely used in Spain (Standard Q, Nadal, Panbio, CerTest, and Wondfo). RATs have become a very useful and validated tool for controlling the spread of COVID-19 allowing the rapid identification of active infection and isolation of positive patients. The present revision of the literature has demonstrated that sensitivity and specificity of all available RATs in Spain are high and accomplish European regulations and WHO recommendations. Resumen: La rápida identificación y aislamiento de los pacientes por COVID-19 se ha convertido en un reto para el control de la pandemia. La reacción en cadena de la polimerasa cuantitativa a tiempo real se utiliza de manera rutinaria para confirmar el diagnóstico de COVID-19 y se considera el estándar de referencia por su alta sensibilidad y especificidad. Sin embargo, normalmente lleva varios días y los costes son relativamente altos. Los test de antígeno son una herramienta rápida, fácil de realizar y de bajo coste. El objetivo de la revisión narrativa es proporcionar información actualizada sobre los test rápidos de antígenos (TRA) para COVID-19 con marcado europeo. Dado su gran número, el estudio solo se enfoca en aquellos representativos y ampliamente empleados en España (Standard Q, Nadal, Panbio, CerTest y Wondfo). Los TRA se han convertido en una herramienta validada muy útil para controlar la diseminación de la COVID-19, al permitir la identificación rápida de la infección activa y el aislamiento de pacientes positivos. La presente revisión de la literatura ha demostrado que la sensibilidad y especificidad de los TRA disponibles en España son altas y cumplen con la regulación europea y las recomendaciones de la OMS.

Since its publication in 1933, Muiris O’Sullivan’s Fiche Blian ag Fás (Twenty Years A-Growing) has been limited and distorted by critics who view the memoir through a lens shaped by prior assessments of Tomás Ó Criomhthain’s earlier Blasket autobiography, An tOileánach (The Islandman). Muiris Mac Conghail voices the standard perspective when he states, “It was the publication of Tomás Ó Criomhthain’s An tOileánach, in 1929, which both acted as an incentive and provided an exemplar to Muiris” (150). O’Crohan’s autobiography certainly inspired O’Sullivan; however, Muiris’s more literary sensibility set him on his own inscriptive journey during which he creates a new type of narrative, one which creatively interweaves oral traditions with the contours of the novel. As we investigate what Pádraig Ó Fiannachta terms the author’s nua scéalaíocht, or “new storytelling” techniques, we can more fully appreciate O’Sullivan’s subtle dexterities as both traditional storyteller and novelistic craftsman.

Objetivo. Describir el marco conceptual, metodología de implementación y análisis de la Encuesta de Satisfacción de Usuarios del Sistema de Protección Social en Salud de México. Material y métodos. Se analizan los elemen­tos metodológicos de los estudios de 2013, 2014 y 2015, incluyendo el instrumento utilizado, muestreo y diseño del estudio, modelo conceptual y características e indicadores del análisis. Resultados. La encuesta captura información sobre calidad percibida y satisfacción. El muestreo tiene representación nacional y estatal. Se construyen y describen indicadores simples y compuestos (índice de satisfacción y porcentaje de problemas de calidad reportados). El análisis se completa mediante diagramas de Pareto, correlación entre indicadores y asociación con la satisfacción mediante modelos multivariados. Conclusiones. La medición de satisfacción y calidad percibida es un proceso complejo pero necesario para cumplir con la normativa y para identificar estrategias de mejora. La encuesta descrita presenta diseño y análisis rigurosos enfocados en su utilidad para mejorar.

No systematic assessment exists that justifies the extension of ethics regulations to non-experimental social science research. Instead, three studies—by MILGRAM, HUMPHREYS, and ZIMBARDO—are repeatedly cited to support such regulation, based on their use of deception and/or covertness. Challenging such regulation requires these studies' detailed re-examination. In this article we offer a critique of deception and covert research as understood solely within the context of experimentation: that framing of those research activities has narrowed their consideration in ways that do a disservice to social science research (as comparison with studies by ROSENHAN and LEO further clarifies). We show that, controversial as they may have been, these projects met a key ethics principle: "beneficence," something ignored by most of the critics assessing their work. Theorizing deception and covertness, we establish distinctions between them and argue for the importance of their use in studies of powerful individuals and organizations, as current political climates make evident.

Conseguiremos este importante vínculo por medio de objetivos realistas en el sentido de que tanto los alumnos como los propios docentes podrían establecerlos en el aula o bien en tutorías. En este caso, he sugerido la idea de una especie de feria científica en la que mis alumnos de traduccion cientifico-tecnica participan como expertos presentando posters y presentaciones en Powerpoint.
