When you preach, you know from experience that what happens in the preaching event is uncontrollable and, therefore, full of mystery. The liturgy and the sermon are part of it and are related to something that happens, but we know this ‘something’ is uncontrollable. Investigation and reflection on resonance in preaching are on the trail of the mystery of the sermon as an event. We know that something mysterious happens when we preach that cannot be controlled by the preachers or listeners. In this article, I discuss the concept of uncontrollability in Hartmut Rosa’s scholarly contributions and mystery in the work of John de Gruchy. I then discuss four Christmas sermons of the Archbishop of Cape Town, Thabo Makgoba, in search of the mystery of uncontrollability. In trying to understand preaching that resonates, I ask: How does the preaching event reflect the aspects of uncontrollability and transcendence in Archbishop Makgoba’s sermons? Archbishop Makgoba is known for his thought-provoking sermons that often delve into complex issues. The mystery in his sermons lies in his ability to explore profound spiritual concepts and connect them to everyday life. He uses metaphorical language to convey deeper meanings, leaving room for interpretation and contemplation. The mystery in his sermons also stems from his engagement with the unknown aspects of faith and the divine, encouraging his audience to grapple with the mysteries of existence.

Scholars believe that we are amid one of the greatest cultural revolutions since the mass production of books in Gutenberg around 1450. The art of book printing, which originated in Central Europe, turned the world on its head within 10 years. The mass production of books resulted in most people in Europe learning to read in less than one generation, which has led to major changes in all areas of social life and has affected the lives of millions of people for over a hundred years. According to these same scholars, we currently find ourselves in a similar position through what is known as the AI (artificial intelligence). In this article, the researcher wants to come to a better understanding of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and AI as part of it and the way they challenge preachers. The central research question is: In our pursuit to speak the truth of Jesus Christ to the powerful economic elite, what are the challenges and opportunities that the 4IR is posing to preachers?

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar las tendencias en la oferta formativa de las maestrías en educación en las especialidades de Gestión de la Educación y Currículo en el Perú. Para el estudio documental se revisaron las páginas web de 95 universidades licenciadas en el Perú, en las cuales se halló información sobre la oferta formativa de ambas especialidades en 36 universidades, encontrando 36 programas de Gestión de la Educación en 33 universidades y 3 universidades que ofertan la especialidad de Currículo. Para el análisis de información se utilizaron matrices documentales acordes a las siguientes categorías: ubicación geográfica, duración, plan de estudios, tipos de cursos (teóricos e investigación), entre otros. Entre los resultados más importantes tenemos que las universidades presentan parcialmente información sobre sus programas; solo existen tres programas de la especialidad de Currículo y 36 relacionados con Gestión de la Educación. Los programas son maestrías profesionales y esto se evidencia por la cantidad de cursos relacionados con la especialidad, aunque existe una incidencia en formar investigadores, además de que las habilidades blandas son parte de la formación de los expertos en ambas especialidades.

The large number of xenophobic attacks that broke out in different places in South Africa during 2008 is still continuing unabated ten years later. We are still under pressure to come to terms with the reality that this occurred in a country that is globally considered to be an example of reconciliation. In this article the primary causes of these xenophobic outbreaks stemming from fear are scrutinised and placed within the wider framework of a culture of fear. Finally, the impact of violence and fear on practice of preaching within a Christian context is discussed, asking the question: How do we go about preaching within this fearful context?

The city of Potchefstroom is situated at the lower end of the Mooi River catchment. Since 1842 the Mooi River has been the sole water supply of Potchefstroom, which currently has about 210 000 residents. The Mooi River is fed mainly by dolomitic eyes and springs. Since the 1930’s, large-scale gold mining commenced to work the ore, which occur in the Witwatersrand sedimentary layer underlying the dolomites. To reduce the danger of flooding, some dolomitic compartments were dewatered by the gold mines, sometimes resulting in catastrophic environmental impacts. Furthermore, slimes dams1 were constructed on dolomitic areas resulting in the seepage of large volumes of polluted water into the underlying aquifer. The indiscriminate mining practices, as well as the rapid development of informal and formal settlements, some diamond mining enterprises as well as agriculture in the central and upper reaches of the catchment, resulted in a steady increase in salt loads in the water of the Mooi River, as well as the deposition of high concentrations of trace metals, especially uranium, which is associated with the gold bearing ore. Recently, it was announced that some mines in the Mooi River Catchment have reached the end of their productive lives, and that projects to re-water the dolomitic compartments were underway. This paper explores the possible environmental impacts associated with re-watering the dolomitic compartments, and indicates how a lack of integrated catchment planning and management are currently exacerbating the already manifested environmental impacts. Finally, an integrated approach to the rehabilitation and restoration of the catchment to a sustainable water resource is suggested.

his paper assesses the role of biological geotextiles on non-agricultural erosion environments, based on studies in the mine tailings Gauteng Province (South Africa) and urban area of São Luis City (Brazil). Gauteng Province (South Africa) has suffered immense problems related to sustainable rehabilitation of mine dumps. This is a huge challenge, as wastes are highly susceptible to both water and wind erosion. Establishing a grass cover to reduce erosion is the dominant reclamation method. Covering the slopes with biological geotextiles might constitute another option for mining companies to reduce erosion and aid natural re-vegetation. The objective of the waste part of this study was to determine the beneficial effect of palm mat cover on erosion control, using rainfall simulation. Results clearly illustrated that application of palm-mats more than halved the sediment load in runoff, thereby having the potential to effectively stabilize tailing dam slopes. Covering tailings with palm-mats did not reduce runoff or improve water infiltration, however. In São Luis City, biological geotextile mats were constructed from palm leaves which are an effective, sustainable and economically-viable soil conservation technique. At Sacavém Community biological geotextile mats were used in association with barriers of wooden stakes and the construction of terraces along contour lines. The aim is to minimize soil erosion, by intercepting rainfall, retarding runoff velocity and sediment loss.

La convergenza delle condizioni interne ed esterne al sistema, in particolare, rese non più procrastinabile una profonda ristrutturazione dell’intero assetto partitico. Ebbe inizio allora, analogamente a quanto stava accadendo nel panorama geopolitico europeo, un processo di destrutturazione dei soggetti politici, delle classi dirigenti e infine dei confini degli stessi partiti che portò ad un radicale mutamento del sistema politico italiano nel suo complesso.

Los sistemas de intercambio de noticias existentes fueron desarrolladas en una época en la cual la capacidad de satélites era escasa y costosa. Ahora los procesos de integración se han acelerado. En América Latina se puede constatar que los procesos de integración son muy dinámicos en el Cono Sur, en los países andinos y también en América Central. Con el surgimiento de TLC, gigante económico, la necesidad de mayor información ha crecido porque sin información no se puede dar a la integración.
