Due to different institutional interpretations, there is a broad set of perceptions and attitudes towards bribery and corruption. Especially in the international business context, it is not likely to have a uniform understanding and consensus regarding the interpretation and the handling of these behaviours. This paper analyses the corruption environment in Latin America. Based on analysing the specific case of the firm PetroTiger Ltd., which was engaged in bribery activities with the Colombian state-controlled firm Ecopetrol S.A. in 2010, this study finds characteristics of corruption in the Latin American region. This research distinguishes itself from the existing literature since it provides new insights in one specific region, including a broad set of dimensions and approaches. A compilation of desk research, media analysis and the Latin American Corruption Perception Index by the Transparency International underpins the corruption in this region. The primary findings show that the Latin American region differs from others because its level of perceived corruption is defined by its strong cultural influences, the internal economic drivers of Latin American firms, and the weak enforcement of legislation. Above all, this paper confirms that each region has its own characteristics and that the global perception on corruption is changing negatively. Taking this into account, this research explains the main causes for Latin America, and here for gives insights for further research that specific focusses on the cultural, economic or legal factors.

Courts ,serial litigants ,access to justice ,Social legislation ,K7585-7595 - Abstract
Serial litigants are a well-known phenomenon. This article deals with this phenomenon on two different levels using Israel as a test-case. First, we analyze the impact they have on the judicial system as a whole, and the institutional responses the judicial system uses in order to deal with serial litigants as well as the impact (both positive and negative) such serial litigants have on other litigants. Second, we analyze the personal motives of serial litigants and identify their common denominators, as well as what differentiates them. In this regard the article offers a unique approach by presenting the perspective of serial litigants and the human dimension behind their claims. We then show that serial litigants do not constitute a monolithic group, and suggest that courts have to take the differences between them into account. We further propose the formulation of systemic tools that take into account both the negative and the positive aspects of serial litigants in order to strike a proper balance between the optimal allocation of resources, and the right of access to justice.

Introduction: the choice of strategies to cope with stress has differential effects on individual and organizational outcomes (e.g. well-being and performance at work). This study examined to what extent individuals differing in their positive psychological resources (optimism, hope, self-efficacy and resilience) implement different strategies to cope with stress in terms of change, acceptance, or withdrawal from a source of stress in an organizational setting. Method: A questionnaire was filled out by 554 employees from different organizations representing a wide range of jobs and positions. Results: Structural Equation Modeling (SEM; χ 2 (7) = 27.64, p < .01, GFI = .99, NFI = .91, CFI = .93, RMSEA = .07) Conclusion: the results indicated that psychological resources (optimism, hope, self-efficacy and resilience) were positively related to coping by change and by acceptance and negatively related to withdrawal. The theoretical implications are discussed.

While many judicial systems in the Western World are coping with a shortage of judges, the public is not always aware of the overload and its reasons. Our claim is that the reason for this, is the fact that the judicial system preferred to preserve an ideal image of the judiciary and control all information about it, rather than to publicize the judicial overload problem. In this paper, we aim to show that until recently, the issue of “judicial overload” was hidden from the public eye. We deal with the importance and advantageous of presenting the relevant facts to the public. We shall empirically show, that the judicial system has begun to legitimize the exposure of judicial overload to the public. This paper explores how existing internationalization theories can be applied to a Multilatina in the service sector, using the case of Avianca-Taca Holdings S.A. as an example. This paper introduces the company by analyzing the context in which it grew, starting with the service sector in Colombia, which is its country of origin. This paper also analyzes the international and domestic air transportation industry alongside the history of Avianca-Taca Holdings S.A. It describes in detail the internationalization program undertaken by the company and analyzes it based on three existing theories that may explain why such choices were made instead of others available. This paper explores different applications of these traditional theories. By this token, it concludes that, rather than using a brand new theory and aspiring to cover a large array of services, it is wiser to make decisions with a more comprehensive scope and use existing theories to adapt an efficient internationalization strategy to a particular context, region or country.

It has been claimed that Israel has the highest per capital rate of lawyers in the world, resulting in belief that the Israel Bar is overpopulated. The first law colleges, which were established 20 years ago, are newcomers to the production of legal professions. The leadership of the Israel Bar have held the law colleges responsible for Israel’s overpopulation of lawyers and for the legal profession’s decline in prestige. This paper examines whether the perception of overcrowding of the profession is a new “discovery” or rather the recycling of a standard dynamic between professionals and legal education institutions. While this paper focuses specifically on Israel, concern about the overpopulation of the profession has become a central concern in many other jurisdictions.
