El ensayo «La narración y el “heroísmo de las pequeñas cosas”», propone una reflexión filosófica y crítica sobre la relevancia de la metanarración —un esquema narrativo totalizador, dirigido a salvaguardar la forma lógica de las historias y de la relación yo-mundo— y de la narración, componente esencial de un proceso educativo que tiene por objeto formar sujetos capaces de dialogar activamente con el mundo y con las otredades, en un proceso narrativo recursivo en el que el sujeto se construye y se forma como «humano», en la unicidad e irrepetibilidad de su historia, redefiniéndose y enriqueciéndose continuamente. Una narración, pues, que deviene una acción caracterizada por un «heroísmo típico de las pequeñas cosas», que nace «del coraje de exponerse […], de tomar conciencia de los propios límites para buscar nuevos recursos, para crear una nueva socialidad generadora de sentido, significado, oportunidades, esperanza». La narración, por lo tanto, permite a cada sujeto entrar en comunicación no solo con los demás, sino consigo mismo, y en este sentido es un instrumento excelente para una reproyección existencial, individual y social a partir de la reflexión sobre sus propias experiencias y vivencias, del redescubrimiento de sus propios valores y del reconocimiento de la unicidad de su historia de vida.
