Los trabajos de investigación más recientes sobre las sucesiones del Carbonífero Superior del Área del Pisuerga han proporcionado una interpretación coherente de la compleja geología de la región, resaltando las relaciones entre tectónica y sedimentación. Estas investigaciones han permitido reconocer un conjunto de afloramientos de alta calidad, en particular, en el sector oriental del Parque Natural de Fuentes Carrionas- Fuente Cobre. En este trabajo, se han seleccionado y documentado cuatro de estos afloramientos como puntos de interés geológico (geosites) con el fin de promocionar el patrimonio geológico y la geodiversidad de la región. En el futuro, el atractivo turístico y el interés pedagógico de estos afloramientos y paisajes podrán ser gestionados como un recurso económico para las comunidades locales The recent works about the Upper Carboniferous successions of the Pisuerga Area have provided coherent interpretations on the complex geology of the region, highlighting the relationships between tectonics and sedimentation. These works have allowed recognising a set of high-quality outcrops, particularly in the eastern sector of Fuentes Carrionas-Fuente Cobre Natural Park. In this paper, four of those outcrops are selected and documented, and proposed as geosites in order to promote the geological heritage and geodiversity of this region. In the future, the touristic attractive and the pedagogical interest of these outcrops and their related landscapes could be managed as an economic resource for the local communities

A paleoenvironmental study for a Lower Cretaceuos (Late Barremian-Aptian) succession (Antromero-Luanco section, Asturian coast) is showed in this work based on stratigraphic, sedimentological and paleontological data. The lower part of the succession shows terrigenous deposits (the Peñaferruz Fm) recording fluvial and fan-deltaic sedimentation, while the upper part is characterized by shallow-water carbonates (the Antromero Fm) covering a broad carbonate platform environments from restricted to open marine zones. Fossil associations had been very helpful in order to interpret the main environmental features

The Stephanian successions croppingbut in the Gamonedo-Cabrales-Panes sector (Northern part of Picos de Europa Region) where deposited in tectonic active basins developed during the southward trhusting and transport of the Picos the Europa Allocthonous unit. These successions had been subdivided in eleven sequences that can be grouped in two sequence sets. Sequences equals to third and fourth order cycles and sequence sets represent second order ones. A higher order cyclicity is present In some sequences. The main characters and the origin of the different types of cyclicity observed is discussed

The main goal of this paper is the description of facies and depositional model of the an Upper Carboniferous carbonate ramp (Puentelles Formation). In this unit two stratigraphic members have been differentiated. Initially the basin received a huge clastic supply from nearly hinterland domains that were being deformed (lower member); later, when the clastic supply ended, an authoctonous carbonate production was generalized (upper member) developing a carbonate ramp in a trangressive context. The shallowest areas (inner-ramp) were characterized by the development of bioclastic shoals with small Anthracoporella colonies. These dasycladacean algae locally formed meter scale mounds in deeper zones corresponding to the middle ramp. In more distal sectors (outer ramp) mud mounds were thrived

The main aim of this paper is to describe a intrashelf carbonate margin in the Westphalian rocks of the Ponga Nappe Unit (Cantabrian Zone). lt concerns to the Escalada limestone Fm. at the Tiatordos height, near Beleño village, El principal objetivo de este artículo es describir el margen carbonatado intraplaca en las piedras de Westfalia de la unidad de mantos de Ponga (zona cantábrica). Se refiere a la formación de caliza Escalada en el alto de Tiatordos, cerca del pueblo de Beleño.
