The document, written in Spanish, discusses the relationship between research in the social sciences and the role of the university in social science education. The author considers the education of researchers, the application of research, the need for interdisciplinary research methods, and problems involved in cross-cultural studies. The conclusion is that intellectual contamination of research leads to dangerous consequences, of much greater significance than environmental contamination. In recognizing that all research is, in a sense, interdisciplinary, requiring knowledge and techniques of other disciplines, the author stresses that the responsibility of universities, academies, and social science organizations is to offer solutions to the problem of integration of knowledge.
