In an article he published in 1973 in the queer magazine FUORI!, Mario Mieli stated his appreciation for Francis Picabia’s aphorisms. Building on this surprising statement, the paper addresses and contextualises the underground circulation and some queer appropriations of Picabia’s work and writings in 1970s Italy. The publishing history of Picabia’s aphorisms leads to a reconstruction of the gallerist Luciano Anselmino’s collection and commercial activity. Next, the paper focuses on the role that Corrado Levi played in the dissemination, critical reception, and Italian collecting of Picabia, tracing and contextualizing the presence of writings by the artists in Levi’s publications of the 1970s and early 1980s.

This paper aims to add to the debate on the negative externalities of tourism-related megaprojects. It examines the policy adoption and implementation of two contentious airport projects in two tourist-heavy regions, Heraklion (Kastelli), Greece, and Cusco (Chinchero), Peru. In the context of destination competitiveness and commitment to neoliberal economic growth, national and regional governments in both countries became attracted by the idea of regional economic development and further increasing the number of international tourists and tourism investments. Deciding whether building a new airport serves the public interest or not is a complex policy problem with technical uncertainties and conflicting interests, which entails both a technical and political process of expressing and pairing policy actors’ goals and means. The aim of the paper is to identify similarities and differences between the tactics adopted and arguments used for and against the two airport development projects by the respective advocacy coalitions.

The paper comparatively considers the issue of ethnic policy and civil solidarity in the South Caucasus countries – Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia from a sociological standpoint. According to the research objective, the ethno-religious composition of the three countries is reviewed, and the current state of civil solidarity is analyzed. Also, relevant issues such as inter-ethnic relations, the state language, the current situation with the languages and cultures of ethnic minorities, the environment of religious tolerance, and representation in elected bodies are analyzed for all three countries. The paper notes that in Azerbaijan and Georgia, civil solidarity and national unity have become the philosophy of the ethnic policy pursued at the state level. In Armenia, assimilation, anti-Turkism, Azeriphobia, anti-Semitism, racism, etc. have formed the state policy. As a result of the ethnic cleansing of its territory from local Azerbaijani Turks and all non-Armenians, Armenia turned into a monoethnic country. On the other hand, Azerbaijan and Georgia have managed to ensure civil solidarity due to their successful ethnic policy and as a result, both countries preserved their polyethnic landscape and gained positive experience in ensuring the coexistence and collaboration of citizens within a single country. RESUMEN El artículo considera comparativamente la cuestión de la política étnica y la solidaridad civil en los países del Cáucaso Meridional: Azerbaiyán, Georgia y Armenia desde un punto de vista sociológico. De acuerdo con el objetivo de la investigación, se revisa la composición étnico-religiosa de los tres países y se analiza el estado actual de la solidaridad civil. Además, para los tres países se analizan cuestiones relevantes como las relaciones interétnicas, el idioma estatal, la situación actual de los idiomas y culturas de las minorías étnicas, el entorno de tolerancia religiosa y la representación en los órganos electos. El documento señala que en Azerbaiyán y Georgia la solidaridad civil y la unidad nacional se han convertido en la filosofía de la política étnica aplicada a nivel estatal. En Armenia, la asimilación, el antiturquismo, la azerifobia, el antisemitismo, el racismo, etc. han formado la política estatal. Como resultado de la limpieza étnica de su territorio de los turcos azerbaiyanos locales y de todos los no armenios, Armenia se convirtió en un país monoétnico. Por otro lado, Azerbaiyán y Georgia han logrado garantizar la solidaridad civil gracias a su exitosa política étnica y, como resultado, ambos países preservaron su paisaje poliétnico y adquirieron experiencia positiva en garantizar la coexistencia y colaboración de los ciudadanos dentro de un solo país. Despite the growing literature on the financialisation of everyday life, studies that empirically examine the various theoretical approaches to it have been scarce. This paper aims to bridge this gap by analysing the financialisation of individuals’ socio-economic behaviour in Southern Europe. To this effect, we used data from the second wave of the Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS), drawn up by the European Central Bank in 2016. Firstly, we designed an operational model of the financialisation of everyday life based on variables related to individual financial behaviour, household money management, and the perception of economic risk. Secondly, we conducted a Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) combined with a Cluster Analysis (CLA) to study the behaviour of individuals in Spain, Italy, Greece, and Portugal. The results question the financialisation of individual economic action in Southern Europe and point to the characterisation of a heterogeneous pattern of socio-economic behaviour in the region. This paper opens a new methodological and theoretical research agenda, since the literature on financialisation could benefit from our operational model of everyday life financialisation by applying it to further surveys. A pesar de la creciente literatura sobre la financiarización de la vida cotidiana, los estudios fundamentados empíricamente son muy escasos. Este artículo tiene como objetivo contribuir a la comprensión empírica de este proceso analizando la financiarización del comportamiento socioeconómico de los individuos en el sur de Europa. Para ello, utilizamos datos de la segunda oleada de la Household Finance and Consumption Survey (HFCS), elaborada por el Banco Central Europeo en 2016. En primer lugar, diseñamos un modelo operativo de financiarización de la vida cotidiana basado en variables relacionadas con el comportamiento financiero individual, la gestión del dinero del hogar, y la percepción del riesgo económico. En segundo lugar, realizamos un análisis de correspondencias múltiples combinado con un análisis de clúster para estudiar el comportamiento de los individuos en España, Italia, Grecia y Portugal. Los resultados cuestionan la financiarización de la acción económica individual en el sur de Europa y apuntan a la caracterización de un patrón heterogéneo de comportamiento socioeconómico en el Sur Europeo. Este artículo abre una nueva agenda de investigación metodológica y teórica, ya que la literatura sobre la financiarización podría beneficiarse de nuestro modelo operativo de financiarización de la vida cotidiana aplicándolo a futuras encuestas.

En el presente artículo se analizan los diferentes motivos que conducen a la compra de libros, prestando especial atención a las relaciones sociales de los lectores, a la obtención de estatus mediante la lectura, al desarrollo del proceso de compra de libros o a la relevancia de la editorial para el consumidor. Asimismo, a lo largo de todo el estudio se destaca la dimensión simbólica que rodea al consumo de libros, en tanto que consumo cultural. Tras realizar una revisión de la literatura sobre la temática, se realizan una serie de entrevistas en profundidad a las que se les aplica el análisis sociológico del discurso. De este procese se extrae que, además de buscar entretenerse o adquirir conocimientos, al comprar libros los lectores también tratan de proyectar un determinado estilo de vida o adquirir distinción social. Por otra parte, cabe señalar que la posición que ocupa cada lector en el espacio social repercute en su forma de consumir y relacionarse, en general, con los libros. Además, hay un amplio segmento de lectores a los que, por un lado, les gusta ser propietarios de los libros y crear su biblioteca personal y, por otra parte, disfrutan del proceso de compra presencial. Por ello, se puede afirmar que el libro se defiende a sí mismo como objeto, por lo que el desarrollo del libro en formato digital no entra necesariamente en conflicto con el formato en papel. This paper analyzes the different reasons that lead to buy books, emphasizing readers’ social relationships, the status achievement through reading, the process of purchasing books or the importance of the publisher for the customer. Furthermore, throughout all the study, the symbolic dimension that surrounds the purchase of books is highlighted, as cultural consumption that it is. The first part of the paper includes a literature review of the topic, and the second part is empirical and contains in-depth interviews that are analyzed through sociological discourse analysis. Outcomes obtained reveal that people buy books not only to enjoy or acquire knowledge, but also to socialize and get social distinction, too. Moreover, each reader’s social position has an effect on the way s/he buys and relates with books. In addition, there is a large segment of readers who, on the one hand, like to own books and have their own personal library, and on the other hand, they enjoy the process of face-to-face book purchase. Therefore, book defends itself as an object and, so the development of e-books does not necessarily conflict with paper books.

This paper proposes a metaphysical framework for distinguishing between human and machine intelligence. It posits two identical deterministic worlds -- one comprising a human agent and the other a machine agent. These agents exhibit different information processing mechanisms despite their apparent sameness in a causal sense. Providing a conceptual modeling of their difference, this paper resolves what it calls “the vantage point problem” – namely, how to justify an omniscient perspective through which a determinist asserts determinism from within the supposedly deterministic universe.

The paper analyses the military invasions and demographic engineering perpetrated by the Republic of Turkey in the Syrian Arab Republic from 2016 to 2024. In particular, it focuses on the lasting effects of the 2018 and 2019 invasions to address the following question: Which identification process is more relevant to understan- ding the Turkish operations and the related demographic change? To support this analysis, the study utilises documentary and ethnographic qualitative resources. After outlining the sources and their limitations, the paper sets forth the methodological, theoretical and terminological tools used, later clarifying the historical context of the ongoing conflict between the Syrian national army, supported by Turkey, and the Syrian demo- cratic forces that Turkey aims to neutralise. Grounded in processual-relational thinking (p-rt), this study seeks to provide a new and original categorisation of the relevant identification bundles. It proposes moving beyond the categories of “culture” and “ethnicity”, which are often vague and reductionist, and instead distinguishes between “ancestral” and “hermeneutic” identification bundles. The former is defined by normative horizons tied to inherited commonalities that relate to language, customs and religious denominations, while the latter encompasses unique interpretations of these legacies through political programs and legal commitments. Based on the gathered evidence, the research assesses which of these bundles is more relevant to defining the conflict between the SNA and the SDF and the ensuing demographic engineering process. In this paper, I investigate the benefits and potential risks associated with utilizing participant observation to gain a deeper understanding of sexual identity. Specifically, my focus is on examining how young, heterosexual, middle-class, cisgender individuals in South Africa perceive and understand their heterosexual identities, exploring how privilege and heteronormativity shape their experiences. In my ethnographic study, I employed various qualitative data collection methods, including participant observation, to analyze how normative practices were negotiated and sustained in contemporary South Africa. As a feminist researcher, I reflect on the epistemological and methodological choices I made in the study, with reflexivity and positionality playing crucial roles in data collection and analysis. Drawing on experiences in three distinct social spaces in Johannesburg—high-end nightclubs, Tupperware-style sex-toy parties, and traditional braais [barbecues]—I examine the advantages and challenges of participant observation. This paper contributes to the broader discussion on the method's use, highlighting its potential to offer a nuanced understanding of a normalized phenomenon while acknowledging associated risks.

In this paper, we explore the use of a generative metaphor for analyzing qualitative interviews on abortion attitudes. U.S. abortion attitudes are notably complex and multidimensional, thus, requiring subtle, complex, and multidimensional tools of study. We used the generative metaphor of a "doorway" as an analytic tool to enable new understandings of abortion attitudes as expressed across 24 one-on-one semi-structured qualitative interviews with U.S. adults. The doorway metaphor gave us an understanding of the ways in which participants thought of their abortion attitudes as open to revision or change to some degree while also being closed to revision in other ways. This spectrum of openness and closedness does not come into view when examining abortion attitudes through the dichotomous framings. In this methodological paper, we thoroughly describe how we used the metaphor to explicate the complexities and multi-dimensionalities of a person's abortion attitudes.

With the advent of modern Medicine, the connections between emotions and medical conditions have primarily been described through observational studies, where conclusions are drawn from correlations of observations rather than experimental research. Psychoanalytical theory has often been used to explain many common illnesses. This approach remains prevalent today. Interestingly, despite the wealth of information now available on the influence of emotions on health, the current divide between neurology and psychiatry, as well as the separation between mental health services and primary care, combined with the time constraints and physicians’ workload, have led to a fragmented approach to many disorders. In these cases, psychological and emotional factors play an important role but are often inadequately addressed. The objective of this paper is to analyse the existing evidence on the relationship between anger and health through a narrative review. The evidence and data presented point to the need for analytical studies based on scientific methodology to explore the relationship between anger and health, and particularly to adopt an integral health approach taking into account social determinants and the role of empathy among the healthcare professionals and clinical and social care. The prevention and treatment of problems related to the high prevalence and intensity of anger are particularly relevant, given the potential negative impact this emotion can have on patients’ physical and mental health, as well as their social adjustment and relationships.

The university as a modern social phenomenon needs to be transformed in order to confront the long centuries of colonialism in Latin America and its enormous ethnic-cultural diversity. This article aims to contribute to such evolvement, by proposing an anthropologist analysis of the University Institution concept, showing its capitalist and ethnocentric structure and its connection with liberal professions as devices of power of the State. This proposal is part of the results of a doctoral research carried out in San Cristóbal de las Casas with professors from the Intercultural University of Chiapas, where an institutional ethnography, a biographical-narrative method, and a participant observation were developed during the years 2019-2021. The paper invites engagement and discussion of a pluriverse paradigm to view and to perceive “University” and its pedagogical praxis from a decolonial perspective instead of the well-known and outdated established occidental universalism.

Las transformaciones en las ciudades producidas desde el inicio de la revolución industrial son una de las principales amenazas para la salvaguarda del patrimonio urbano. Estas circunstancias han demandado la elaboración de estrategias y nuevos enfoques orientados a lograr un desarrollo sustentable del patrimonio cultural. Al respecto, en las últimas décadas el vínculo entre el patrimonio cultural y las diferentes dimensiones de la sustentabilidad ocupa uno de los puntos centrales de la agenda patrimonial de organizaciones nacionales e internacionales, así como de investigadores de todo el mundo. De las diferentes dimensiones de la sustentabilidad identificadas, es la sociocultural la que mayor incidencia tiene en la salvaguardia del patrimonio cultural. En el abordaje del patrimonio cultural desde la perspectiva de la sustentabilidad los procesos de evaluación mediante el uso de indicadores presentan amplias ventajas para la formulación, análisis y seguimiento de las políticas culturales y los procesos de toma de decisiones en la gestión. En este contexto, existe un amplio espectro de propuestas de indicadores de sustentabilidad que son aplicados, desde diferentes enfoques, a una diversidad de objetos y de contextos. No obstante, en general se observa que, en la mayoría de las propuestas, se formulan indicadores cuantitativos con una fuerte incidencia de las dimensiones económica y ambiental, presentando limitaciones para abordar aspectos más sensibles del patrimonio cultural, como las valoraciones y percepciones, que por tener un carácter subjetivo no son fácilmente cuantificables. Por ello, en el presente trabajo se presenta una propuesta metodológica para la evaluación de la sustentabilidad sociocultural del patrimonio urbano en ciudades medias mediante un conjunto de indicadores formulados desde un enfoque cualitativo, diseñada y testeada en una ciudad intermedia de Argentina (Olavarría). La metodología propuesta permite medir los avances y retrocesos del patrimonio en pos de su sustentabilidad en el mediano plazo. Además, facilita la integración de evaluaciones de distintas disciplinas e incorpora la mirada de los principales actores de la patrimonialización y la gestión del patrimonio, así como posibilita la realización de un diagnóstico de la situación del patrimonio urbano en las áreas de estudio. The transformations in cities since the beginning of the industrial revolution are one of the main threats to safeguarding urban heritage. These circumstances have demanded the elaboration of strategies and new approaches to achieve the sustainable development of cultural heritage. In this respect, in recent decades, the link between cultural heritage and the different dimensions of sustainability has been at the centre of the heritage agenda of national and international organisations and researchers from all over the world. Of the various dimensions of sustainability identified, the sociocultural dimension has the most significant impact on safeguarding cultural heritage. In the approach to cultural heritage from the perspective of sustainability, evaluation processes through the use of indicators have broad advantages for formulating, analysing and monitoring cultural policies and management decision-making processes. In this context, a broad spectrum of proposals for sustainability indicators is applied from different approaches to various objects and contexts. However, in general, it is observed that most of the proposals formulate quantitative indicators with a substantial incidence of the economic and environmental dimensions, presenting limitations to address more sensitive aspects of cultural heritage, such as valuations and perceptions, which are not easily quantifiable due to their subjective nature. Therefore, this paper presents a methodological proposal for evaluating the sociocultural sustainability of urban heritage in medium-sized cities through a set of indicators formulated from a qualitative approach designed and tested in a medium-sized city in Argentina (Olavarría). The proposed methodology makes it possible to measure the progress and setbacks of heritage in pursuit of sustainability in the medium term. In addition, it facilitates the integration of evaluations from different disciplines. It incorporates the viewpoint of the main actors in heritage and heritage management, as well as making it possible to diagnose the situation of urban heritage in the areas of study.

Migraciones y desarrollo constituyen dos fenómenos entre los cuales se ha dado una estrecha conexión que ha ido evolucionando con el tiempo en función de las acciones, intereses y agendas de los distintos agentes. Asimismo, ha suscitado un gran interés, no solo político y social, sino también académico. Desde las primeras formulaciones teóricas en torno al fenómeno migratorio, este se ha planteado en estrecha relación con la falta de desarrollo económico como una de sus causas principales, aunque con el tiempo se han sumado otros enfoques que abordan los efectos de las migraciones en el desarrollo, sobre todo en los lugares de origen de los migrantes. No obstante, el enfoque predominante ha sido aquel que abogaba por un discurso preventivo de las migraciones, empleando la cooperación al desarrollo para tal fin. Así, del nexo migración-desarrollo emergen una gran cantidad de cuestiones con enormes implicaciones sociales y que, por tanto, han sido de enorme interés para la investigación social. Con ello en mente, el objetivo de este trabajo ha sido estudiar cuantitativa y cualitativamente las tesis doctorales centradas en estas temáticas y producidas en España en los últimos treinta años. Mediante la búsqueda, revisión y análisis documental de estos trabajos ha sido posible, por un lado, documentar los años de producción, la autoría, las universidades y las áreas de estudio desde las que se han producido las tesis, y por el otro, aunque en estrecha conexión, nos ha permitido reflexionar en torno a los intereses académicos, los temas abordados, los contextos estudiados y las formas en que se han desarrollado estas investigaciones. Todo ello nos ha servido para estudiar qué se ha dicho en la Academia sobre el nexo migración-desarrollo y, sobre todo, para poner en valor las producciones doctorales en cuanto aportaciones de gran valía para el mundo científico y para la sociedad, recalcando la importancia de la aplicabilidad de nuestros trabajos académicos. Migrations and development are two phenomena tightly connected, and this connection has evolved over time according to the goals and the agenda of different agents. It has also generated political, social and academic interests. Since the first theoretical formulations, the migratory phenomenon has been related to the lack of economic development as one of its main causes, although over time other approaches have been added, addressing the effects of migration on development, especially in the origin communities of migrants. No obstante, el enfoque predominante ha sido aquel que abogaba por un discurso preventivo de las migraciones, empleando la cooperación al desarrollo para tal fin. However, the prevailing approach has advocated a preventive discourse on migration, using development aid for this purpose. Thus, a large number of issues emerge from the migration-development nexus with enormous social implications and, therefore, have been of enormous interest for social research. Hence, the goal of this paper is to quantitatively and qualitatively study the doctoral theses focused on these subjects and produced in Spain in the last 30 years. Through the review and documentary analysis of these researches, it has been possible, on the one hand, to document the years of production, the authorship, the universities and the areas of study from which the theses have been produced. On the other, although in close connection, it has allowed us to reflect on the academic interests, the topics addressed, the contexts studied and the ways in which these investigations have been carried out. Finally, this work has helped us to study what has been said in the Academy about the migration-development nexus and, above all, to value doctoral productions as contributions of great value to the scientific world and to society, emphasizing the importance of the applicability of our academic works.

Este trabajo aborda la incertidumbre, foco central del actual debate epistemológico, en una triple concreción sociológica. En primer lugar, concreción temática: la incertidumbre en el ámbito del cambio climático (CC, en adelante). En segundo lugar, se fija en actores concretos: expertos en ese ámbito. Y tercero: concreta una observación empírica, con entrevistas a expertos españoles en CC. Se asume una perspectiva emic, atenta al habla de los expertos sobre sentido, localización y gestión de la incertidumbre climática. Como recoge la sucesión de los distintos informes del IPCC, la incertidumbre ha sido y es asunto central de reflexión en el estudio del CC. Dado que son los expertos los que la definen, clasifican, miden y comunican al resto de la ciudadanía, su estudio debe pasar necesariamente por la indagación de su peculiar relación con la heterogénea comunidad de los expertos. Tras dar cuenta de la relevancia dada a la incertidumbre en los informes del IPCC, se propone una reconstrucción selectiva del debate sobre la experticia y la incertidumbre, presentando algunos resultados de las indagaciones sobre el tema en España, para centrar después la atención en el análisis de las evidencias aportadas por una investigación cualitativa, concluyendo con los principales resultados alcanzados. Uncertainty is one of the central issues in the current epistemological debate. This paper proposes to approach it within the framework of a triple sociological concretion. First, a thematic concretion: uncertainty in the field of climate change. Second, it focuses on specific actors: experts in the field of climate change. And third, it is based on an empirical sociological observation of qualitative interviews with a significant sample of Spanish climate change experts. Thus, an emic perspective is adopted, paying attention to what the experts say about the meaning, location, and management of uncertainty. Uncertainty has been and continues to be a central topic of reflection in the study of climate change, as shown by the succession of different IPCC reports. Since it is the experts who define, classify, measure, and communicate the uncertainty of climate change to the rest of the citizens, its study must necessarily include the observation of the peculiar relationship with the heterogeneous community of experts. This work aims to make a contribution in this respect. After an account of the importance given to uncertainty in the IPCC reports, it proposes a selective reconstruction of the debate on expertise and uncertainty, presenting some of the results of research on the subject in Spain, to then focus attention on the analysis of the evidence provided by recent qualitative research, and to end with some conclusions that identify the main results obtained.

Political consumerism, as a means of participation through the marketplace, is increasing in most Western democracies. Consequently, companies have been obliged to make themselves accountable to customers. This paper analyses the factors associated with three types of political consumers: boycotters, buycotters, and dualcotters as opposed to those consumers who are not politically involved. Using data from a representative sample of the Spanish population, we focus on the role that the self-perceived efficacy of individuals as consumers plays on political consumerism. Results show that the predictors of the behaviour of boycotters and buycotters are generally different. Internal political efficacy is significant for dualcotters and buycotters whereas consumer efficacy is more predictive in the case of boycotters. The use of social networks is common to all political consumers. El consumo político, como medio de participación a través del mercado, está aumentando en la mayoría de las democracias occidentales. En consecuencia, las empresas se han visto obligadas a rendir cuentas ante los clientes. Este artículo analiza los factores asociados a tres tipos de consumidores políticos: los que boicotean, los que compran y los realizan ambas acciones en oposición a aquellos consumidores que no están implicados políticamente. Utilizando datos de una muestra representativa de la población española, nos centramos en el papel que la eficacia interna de los individuos juega en el consumo político. Los resultados muestran que los predictores del comportamiento de los boicoteadores y los compradores son, en general, diferentes. La eficacia política interna es significativa para los que realizan ambas acciones y los que compran, mientras que la eficacia del consumidor es más predictiva en el caso de los que realizan boicot. El uso de las redes sociales es común a todos los consumidores políticos.

In the digital age, learning English as a Second Language (ESL) has undergone an unprecedented transformation, driven both by technological evolution and by the understanding of the importance of emotions in the educational process. This article explores the intersection of technology, emotions, and learning English, highlighting the figure of the Homo Technologicus, a species immersed and shaped by technology, but still essentially human. Through a philosophical and pedagogical analysis, this paper argues that, even though technology offers innovative tools and methods, it is crucial to balance it with sound pedagogical approaches that consider students’ emotions and motivations. Personalization of learning English as a second language, driven by algorithms and data, is a powerful tool, but it must be used in a way that fosters human connection and the holistic development of the individual.

This article investigates the role of accents in an English as a Foreign Language classroom with college students in Mexico. The paper starts by defining key concepts necessary to understand the topic, such as accent and different types of accents. Then, a description of the setting and participants is presented, followed by a detailed explanation of how the study was carried out and a discussion of the results. This study demonstrated that there is no need to use just one type of accent in the EFL classes but rather a variety of accents regardless of the student's proficiency level. What is needed, however, is to design warm-up activities to prepare students for listening to audio recordings to succeed with the tasks.

The Cluster WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is one of the cornerstones of humanitarian action, and a key element for the promotion of health worldwide. The recent years demonstrated the pressure on this humanitarian cluster, as a result of climate change. At the same time, it is also clear that WASH actions have a potential to foster health promotion, preparedness, and resilience among communities affected by humanitarian crisis related to climate hazards. This aspect is visible in both the existing literature of the major international organisations and NGOs networks acting in this field. It is also visible in the best practices promoted in two countries looked at in the paper: Bangladesh and the United States. This comparative analysis allows us to extract conclusions that may be replicable in other national or local contexts. It contributes to a better comprehension of the links between the humanitarian indicators and actions, and the imperative of a work with communities in order to improve even more the preparedness of the health impact of climate change.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss and analyze public posts on the social network Facebook that point to xenophobic opinions about the (i)migrant poetry slam scene in Portugal. These posts reflect the post-colonial attitudes of a historically colonizing country, which is currently experiencing a cultural identity crisis that oscillates between Lusotropicalist and Eurocentric ideology, and whose economic, racial and gender discrimination is still present. We will therefore look at poetry slam in Portugal in the light of post-colonial, identity and social disputes.

This paper explores the discursive construction of the male characters of the Spanish miniseries Antidisturbios created by Rodrigo Sorogoyen and Isabel Peña and premiered on Movistar + on 16 October 2020. Combining a qualitative methodology (film analysis and critical discourse analysis applied to gender studies) with a quantitative approach to the script of the series, the study focuses on the representation of the six riot police officers, paying attention both to how their roles reproduce hegemonic masculinity and to any new form of masculinity that can be observed in response to that normative pattern.

This paper analyses the relationship between masturbation and literary creation, taking as a reference the memoirs and some poems by Carlos Barral. For this purpose, it also considers texts by other authors, who lived through Franco's repression just like Barral or simply gave their own meaning to the search for intimate pleasure implied by autoeroticism. The essay aims to study the ways in which literary and sexual subjectivity feed back into each other, in an era marked by censorship and silence.

There should be two concerns implied when a symmetrical history of the Crusades is put forward. First is to expressively study the Muslim document set and secondly the relationship of the historical agents with the environment is to be considered. In this paper we discuss the iqtā’ system and its simultaneous role in maintaining power balance and in ensuring effective exploitation of natural resources within the Mamluk Sultanate. We have selected the narratives of two Mamluk chroniclers to support our discussion. These narratives are about sultan Qalāwūn undertaking efforts, in 682/1283, to open an irrigation canal in al-Buhayra in the Nile River Delta. This discussion aims to criticize the mistake of considering the Sultanate incapable of dealing with problems such as droughts and famines. In addition, it examines how the sultans coped with their internal political problems, like the nomadic opposition and other dissidence. These challenges coexisted at the same time that confronting the last enclaves Crusaders in Syria and responding the Mongol growing threat was needed.

This paper compares the ancient Mediterranean and Mesopotamian civilizations’ concept of borders and their relation with the spaces they transformed through a comparative approach of selected ancient civilizations, putting these cosmogonies into a chronological evolutionary line. The distinct motifs, symbols, and theological frameworks are examined through secondary sources. While each of these civilizations counts with individual studies, few serious attempts have been made to address these four civilizations together. The discussion aims to set the premises of the importance of borders in contemporary urban and territorial studies when religion often has a secondary role. While they were critical elements in the definition of territorial limits in the past, their inheritance is still present in our contemporary concept of borders as producers of fears.

This paper aims at a queer theoretical reading of what the painter Filippo de Pisis called “irresistible complications”, that is subtle deconstruction of heteronormative narratives, in Magic Realism paintings of the 1920s in Italy. Exemplified by rare emergences of the sociological reception of painted subjects concerning desire, the discussion takes into account two male painters, Felice Casorati and Ubaldo Oppi. Their works dedicated to disquieting female, same-sex affection (the typical subject of Le amiche) are analyzed through the lens of queer theory. René Girard’s triangular desire allows to articulate the thematic presence of the male gaze in this representation of sapphism.

The Italian painter Filippo de Pisis (1896-1956) often used references to Dionysians and Arcadian subjects to emphasize the homoerotic connotations associated with the representation of the male body. Sometimes, de Pisis represents a Dionysian male nude immersed in nature, as in Bacchino (1928) or the striking lithographs illustrating Catullo’s Carmi. At other times, the animalistic dimension of the Dionysian world is transposed into the intimacy of the artist’s studio, as in Nudino sulla pelle di tigre (1931). This paper aims to shed new light on the homoerotic and self-reflexive dimension of these Arcadian fantasies the artist elaborated during a lifetime. I will investigate their connection with a well-established homoerotic visual culture that has been widespread since the late 19th century and the way they offered the painter a prolific and safe outlet for representing the eroticized male body in the Italian context of the early 20th century. It will thus be possible to address through an original perspective the queer dimension of de Pisis’ work, still too often overlooked by the artist’s historiography.

Artists are often stereotyped as eccentric individuals with unique personalities and attitudes. Therefore, while in traditionalist Greek society the LGBT community has long experienced oppression or marginalization, homosexual male artists were comparatively more allowed to deviate from social norms. This led Greek homosexual artists to hide their sexual orientation in their social life while expressing it covertly or, in a few cases, explicitly, in their art. This paper studies the expression of sexual identity in the artworks of the Greek painter, Diamantis Diamantopoulos (1914-1995). In many of his pictures – mostly anthropocentric in subjects, focusing on the male human body – he hinted at his homosexuality more or less covertly. I aim to examine these works in correlation with issues of subjectivity and otherness, in the context of the artist’s lived experiences and social status. My research is based on Erving Goffman’s theory about social roles, and Didier Eribon’s books on sexual and class identity.

This paper reflects upon the construction of narratives presented by students of 10th grade from a public institution in the EFL classroom in Colombia. This study was developed using an Action Research method and a sociocritical paradigm to encourage continuous constructions of decolonial narratives among the students. Furthermore, the exploration of narratives shows various significance from economic, social, and cultural perspectives about the role of the language in their context and the influence on their future that stems from their socio-cultural contexts that see English as the only way to success. Finally, the importance of a critical pedagogy approach to critique the reproduction of colonial narratives to develop a broader understanding of English learning.

Against the background of continuing urban growth, cities are constantly faced with new challenges. Above all, a strong increase in the number of residents must secure the supply of living space. In addition, the attractiveness of a city depends not only on the available living space and its price, but also on the quality of life in the city. The term quality of life usually refers to factors that can have a positive effect on a person's well-being. Quality of life is characterized by aspects such as educational opportunities, health and nature. As a result, nature is an important criterion in the quality of life and also shapes the appearance of the city. Parks, playgrounds or street trees are just a few of the forms that can be found in cities. In addition, the city green takes over many different functions. These range from economic and urban features to social and ecological purposes. Especially the ecological aspect is becoming more and more important in the course of climatic changes. In this context, a sustainable urban development should be striven for in order to secure urban green spaces, such as the "Leipzig Charter for a Sustainable European City". The challenges for municipalities in dealing with urban green spaces are manifold. The reason for this is the different usage requirements that affect the urban green space through different user groups. In addition to the changed demands, the financial resources available also play an important role. At present, it is difficult to reconcile the different demands placed on an area with the financial resources available. Therefore, this paper examines a new approach to Green Urban Labs in relation to the development and safeguarding of urban greens. In this respect, literature searches are used to shed light on the foundations, goals and problems of urban green. In a further part, the model project "Green Urban Labs" will be examined. In addition to further literature research and expert interviews, the case study "From Hausacker to Urban Green" in the district Riemke of the city Bochum will be used to shed light on the goals and implementation measures of the project. Recommendations for action are derived from the findings. On the one hand, the recommendations should support the consolidation of the model project after the end of the project period. On the other hand, they should serve as good examples and points of reference for other municipalities that can benefit from the new approach.

The paper aims to analyse how Romanian has been perceived, known and presented by some of the great foreign linguists of the past one hundred years. They are dialectologists, Romance languages’ specialists, grammarians, mostly from the European space, who have known differently Romanian language and approached it in their work.

The main objective of this paper is to present the historical evolution of the adjectival subsystem in the written Romanian language, as it is reflected in the most representative Romanian religious texts from the time period between the 17th century and the 20th century. The conclusions refer to the permanent interweaving of the Romanian literary language with the special language of the church, to the development of both functional variants. They have influenced each other, imposing forms that have acquired viability and standardised use, not without possibilities of stylistic and pragmatic nuancing, in various other registers, levels, styles. In other words, the essence of our research has been to recompose the moving, i.e., diachronic, picture of the Romanian adjectival subsystem within the general Romanian language system.

This paper is intended as a review of the study in which Cosmin Căprioară analyses the process of metaphorization undergone by many of the terms designating human body parts in the Romanian folk language. The research is based on the cognitive theory of metaphor. In this case, the author has encoded an interdisciplinary analysis grid, using various methodologies and tools from dialectology, language history, lexicology and semantics, psycholinguistics etc. These were necessary in the operation of inventorying and delimiting the types of metaphors, resulting from semantic transfer, namely: [concrete] for [concrete] metaphors and [abstract] for [abstract] metaphors.

Este trabajo de investigación analiza la auditoría de cumplimiento tributario en un mundo globalizado, enfocándose en las estrategias exitosas implementadas por profesionales y en el diseño de programas educativos para futuros expertos en auditoría fiscal. La metodología utilizada fue inductiva y cualitativa, incluyendo un examen exhaustivo de estudios relacionados con la globalización económica, fiscal y comercial. Se destaca la importancia de establecer regulaciones de cumplimiento tributario a nivel global, seguidas por la mayoría de los países, así como la existencia de acuerdos de doble tributación para mejorar el entorno fiscal y evitar la evasión. El incumplimiento de estas regulaciones se identifica como un obstáculo para el desarrollo económico y financiero. En el ámbito educativo, se observa la relevancia de las directrices emitidas por organizaciones internacionales para mejorar la formación y desarrollo de competencias de profesionales en contabilidad y auditoría. ABSTRACT This research paper analyzes tax compliance auditing in a globalized world, focusing on successful strategies implemented by professionals and on the design of educational programs for future tax auditing experts. The methodology used was inductive and qualitative, including an exhaustive review of studies related to economic, fiscal and commercial globalization. The importance of establishing global tax compliance regulations, widely followed by most countries, is highlighted, as well as the existence of double taxation agreements to improve the tax environment and avoid evasion. Non-compliance with these regulations is identified as an obstacle to economic and financial development. In the educational field, the relevance of the guidelines issued by international organizations to improve the training and development of competencies of accounting and auditing professionals is observed. This study delved into the world of Digital Marketing in social networks, exploring its evolution from 2018 to April 2023 through the prism of the Scopus database. Using a quantitative methodology with a bibliometric approach, 368 documents were examined using statistical tools such as VOSviewer, RStudio and Microsoft Excel. The results paint a picture where the annual document production shows a steady decline of -3.34%, attributed to saturation, changing algorithms and mutable preferences. With the participation of 81 countries, Spain, USA, UK, India, and Indonesia emerge as prominent players, while 26 subject areas, led by Business, Computer Science and Social Sciences, top the subject matter. Documentary diversity is reflected in articles (76.36%), papers (15.22%) and reviews (3.80%). In this scenario, nine authors, including Civelek et al. (2020), Dwivedi et al. (2020), and Saura (2021), stand out. The exploration of trends took the form of a Thematic Map with specific sections, while future inquiries are oriented towards resource theory, destination marketing, social network platforms, diet advertising and social network analysis. Overall, this study not only provides insight into contemporary scientific production, but also points to fruitful directions for future research.

Often recognized as the "Eastern Mark Twain," Mammadguluzadeh is known for his satirical and progressive writings that challenged societal norms and traditional gender roles in predominantly conservative Eastern societies. Thus, through an in-depth analysis of his literary works, the article highlights Mammadguluzadeh's unique role as an influential feminist writer in the East, highlighting the challenges he faced as a progressive thinker in a conservative society. The paper examines the concept of local legal acts and their nature in the Republic of Armenia. The author analyzes the application of the relations criterion to identify local acts, noting that these acts can be adopted by both public and private bodies and organizations. It is indicated that such relations may exist both between public bodies and their employees and between non-state institutions and their members. Judicial practice supporting the qualification of acts as local and explaining the reasons for such qualification is presented. The primary method of research is deduction, employed in investigating the legal and social nature of criteria for identifying local legal acts in Armenia. The study concludes that local legal acts can regulate relations in various spheres and that their nature is determined by the relationship between the body adopting the act and its addressees. RESUMEN El artículo examina el concepto de actos jurídicos locales y su naturaleza en la República de Armenia. El autor analiza la aplicación del criterio de relaciones para identificar actos locales, señalando que estos actos pueden ser adoptados por organismos y organizaciones tanto públicos como privados. Se indica que tales relaciones pueden existir tanto entre organismos públicos y sus empleados como entre instituciones no estatales y sus miembros. Se presenta la práctica judicial que respalda la calificación de actos como locales y explica las razones de dicha calificación. El principal método de investigación es la deducción, que se emplea para investigar la naturaleza jurídica y social de los criterios para identificar los actos jurídicos locales en Armenia. El estudio concluye que los actos jurídicos locales pueden regular las relaciones en diversos ámbitos y que su naturaleza está determinada por la relación entre el órgano que adopta el acto y sus destinatarios. The goal of this paper is to analyze the legal and policy reforms spearheaded under Aliyev's leadership in the 1990s that strengthened protections for women's rights during Azerbaijan's transition to an independent, post-Soviet state. Between 1993 and 1997, the National Leader Heydar Aliyev orchestrated a transformation of Azerbaijani statehood, but it was notorious that starting in 1998, Azerbaijan embarked on a journey to modernize its state institutions in alignment with democratic standards and to implement necessary reforms in its legal and regulatory framework. This process involved the adoption of new codes to replace the legal structures inherited from the Soviet era. While some modifications had been made to these Soviet-era codes in the 1990s, the demand of the time was for completely new codes that would meet modern constitutional standards and address the fundamental challenges facing the newly independent state. Then, this study examines the changes in the regulatory framework aimed at safeguarding women's rights, emphasizing accomplishments, obstacles, and prospects for further enhancement. Entre 1993 y 1997, el Líder Nacional Heydar Aliyev orquestó una transformación de la nación de Azerbaiyán, pero fue notorio que, a partir de 1998, Azerbaiyán emprendió un viaje para modernizar sus instituciones estatales en concordancia con estándares democráticos e implementar reformas necesarias en su marco legal y normativo. Este proceso envolvió la adopción de nuevos códigos que reemplazaran las estructuras legales heredadas de la era Soviética. Si bien se habían hecho algunas modificaciones a estos códigos de la era Soviética en la década de 1990, la demanda de la época era por códigos completamente nuevos que se ajustaran a estándares constitucionales modernos y abordaran los desafíos fundamentales que enfrentaba el estado recién independizado. Entonces, este estudio examina los cambios en el marco normativo destinados a salvaguardar los derechos de las mujeres, enfatizando logros, obstáculos y perspectivas para un mayor perfeccionamiento. La generación fotovoltaica se presenta hoy en día como una alternativa ventajosa desde el punto de vista ambiental frente a las fuentes convencionales de energía y es una opción para el sector agropecuario poder disminuir los gastos debido a la facturación de electricidad. Un sistema fotovoltaico conectado a la red en La Empresa Agropecuaria Horquita permitirá reducir el consumo de electricidad desde la empresa eléctrica. En este artículo se describe una propuesta de sistema fotovoltaico conectado a red que consta de 1014 paneles de 270 Wp con 13 inversores. La capacidad total del sistema es de 273 kWp y es capaz de generar 346,4 MWh/año. Se simuló el desempeño del sistema utilizando el software profesional PVSyst 7.1 para comprobar los resultados del cálculo manual además de obtener información adicional sobre el desempeño del sistema en el tiempo. La propuesta es factible económicamente arrojando un VPN de 1,7 MMCUP con un periodo de recuperación de 8 años a partir de la disminución de la facturación de electricidad en 640 840 CUP/año. Sin embargo, se detectó que este tipo de proyecto no es muy atractivo para aprovechar fondos de oportunidad si se tiene en cuenta que la TIR es muy baja (4%) en comparación con la tasa de descuento empleada. El proyecto tiene como ventaja adicional que permite la reducción de emisiones de CO2 a la atmósfera estimándose emisiones evitadas de 242,5 t de CO2/año. ABSTRAC Photovoltaic generation is presented today as an environmentally advantageous alternative to conventional energy sources and is an option for the agricultural sector to reduce the expenditure incurred due to electricity billing. A photovoltaic system connected to the grid at the Horquita Agricultural Enterprise allow reducing electricity consumption from the electrical company. This paper details a proposal for a connected to grid photovoltaic system that consists of 1014 panels with 270 Wp connected to 13 inverters. The total capacity of the system is 273 kWp and it is capable of generating 346,4 MWh/year. The performance of the proposed system was simulated using the professional software PVSyst 7.1 and the results of the manual calculation were verified in addition to obtaining other information about its performance. The proposal is feasible from an economic point of view, yielding a positive NPV of 1,7 MMCUP and a payback period of 8 years from the decrease in electricity billing by 640,840 CUP/year. However, it was detected that this type of project is not very attractive to take advantage of opportunity funds if it is taken into account that the IRR is very low (4%) compared to the discount rate used. The additional advantage of the project is that it allows the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, estimating avoided emissions of 242.5 t of CO2/year. This study, part of a larger project exploring the multiple impacts that a one-year study abroad programme at a Portuguese higher education institution had on Chinese students, looks at how these students perceived and managed their experiences both in and outside the classroom. This paper focuses on their classroom experience, and has two central aims: firstly, to explore how this study abroad programme impacted students; secondly, to explore preconceptions identified in the literature regarding Chinese students which might constrain the mindsets and behaviour of Portuguese teachers and students towards these. The results of this qualitative study – deploying exploratory practice and a combined longitudinal and ethnographic approach – point to how a key experience of these Chinese students was learning how to navigate multiple borders – linguistic, cultural, political, and emotional – in an immersive language setting.

Technological innovations—tools, artefacts, and processes—open up new possibilities of human action and thereby increase the domain of our positive freedom. Technology is inherently value-laden, since such an intended increase of freedom may be a good or bad relative to human values. The use of tools may also involve unintended and unwanted by-products and side effects. Therefore, technology should not develop in a deterministic or random manner but should be guided by reasonable democratic principles. Technology assessment (TA) is a pattern for the evaluation of technological projects and products by their costs and benefits, risks, and profits. Using philosophical distinctions and arguments as its method, this paper explains, elaborates, and illustrates Niiniluoto’s formula TA = 6E + S for TA. The first E is effectiveness, the ability of the new tool or solution to produce its intended effects. This is the main concern of the engineer. The second is its economic profit, based on the monetary exchange value of the product. This is the domain of economic theories. Effectiveness and economy, and efficiency as their combination, are not the only relevant dimensions of TA. As products of design, artefacts have esthetic qualities, studied today in applied esthetics. The relations of tools to the health of their users are studied in ergonomics. The relations of human technologies to the health of the natural environment and sustainable development are treated in ecology. Technical tools and their effects can always be evaluated by ethical standards which concern their moral worth. Technological systems have also an impact which is social in the broad sense, since they can lead to changes in the communicative, legal, institutional, and political spheres of society.

This paper aims to contribute to the reflection that expands and makes explicit the aspects of early motherchild bonding that favor the development of Theory of Mind (ToM). For this purpose, first, we start from the conceptualization of ToM and its understanding from the Theory of Theories and Simulation Theory, as they have been identified as the most important theoretical models that explain one of the most relevant differential capacities of the human species. Subsequently, it is proposed that this capacity emerges in the bonding context, since due to its complexity it constitutes an evolutionary advantage that favors the establishment of the social bond; for this purpose, the developments of the Attachment Theory are used. The content analysis carried out allows us to recognize that treating the child as a mental agent (intentional and with individuality) and tending to use terms of mental state in discourse, play a fundamental role in the development of children’s capacity to understand other minds, so that rather than entering into the debate of internalist or externalist perspectives on the development of ToM, the value of intersubjective experience is highlighted.

The article explores the transnational dimension of adhocratic governance through the case study of the Turkmen community in Lebanon, a marginal and seemingly insignificant group, especially from a demographic point of view. It investigates how Turkey’s and Lebanon’s governance of Turkmen communities has evolved over the past few decades and what this reveals about how the Turkmen’s transnational identities operate in practice. Drawing on extensive fieldwork conducted by the authors in both Lebanon and Turkey, the paper contends that in recent years, Turkey has implemented ad hoc strategies towards Turkmen communities, influencing their transnational identification practices. While Lebanon has disengaged from the management of a population living in marginal yet strategically relevant areas, Turkey has framed its foreign policy in terms of cultural-religious kinship and pragmatism. Both political processes are continually characterised by competing bundles of identifications, which temporarily and incompletely acquire a privileged status in (especially foreign policy) decision-making. What are the current dominant threats and fears in Lebanon? How do the borderland communities perceive these threats, and how are they impacting their identity construction? This paper explores the interplay among identity, borders, and fear by examining three regimes of fear that are dominant narratives provided by state institutions and Hezbollah: the threat posed by Israel, Salafi-jihadists, and Syrian refugees. These regimes resonate differently in the Northern, Eastern, and Southern borderlands. Interviews with local residents reveal a shared but unnamed fear of marginalization while also highlighting an alternative identity construction in each of the borderland regions. The management of social innovation projects and their relationship with sustainable development is a growing interest in the academic and professional spheres. This paper analyzes emerging trends at the intersection of environmental sustainability and social innovation project management. It sought to identify meaningful dialogues that contribute to the design and implementation of projects that promote a sustainable future. A qualitative approach was adopted using two complementary methods to address this objective. First, bibliometric search equations focused on the analytical categories of social innovation and environmental sustainability. Second, a documentary review was carried out using matrices, which made it possible to identify divergences and convergences between the different authors in this field. The results of this study underscore that incorporating environmental sustainability into the management of social innovation projects is desirable and essential to address contemporary social problems effectively. By adopting sustainable practices, fostering environmental awareness, and seeking solutions that respect environmental limits, social innovation projects can play a crucial role in creating a more sustainable and equitable future.

This paper focuses on the Autonomous Region of Andalusia (Spain), and analyses messages posted in 2020 on the Instagram profiles of the by-then five main political parties of the region: Partido Popular, Partido Socialista Obrero Español, Ciudadanos, Vox, and Adelante Andalucía. Through a content analysis of the 1,805 posts published during the pandemic year of 2020, we study the degree of interactive communication of these parties (by using indicators that are both primary and secondary) as well as the main topics and purposes of the political posts in each profile. The results point to a lack of genuine interaction, a primary focus on the economy and health as main topics, and the positioning of individual politicians or parties as predominant purposes of the posts. These results are discussed on the grounds of the literature on Instagram political communication, and the theory of social media interactivity.

How can alternative kinship formations begin to challenge heteronormative and patriarchal family structures? Matrilineal genealogies are not subject to the limitations of patriarchal lineages. They do not necessarily rely only on biological connections between family members nor do they reproduce traditional Oedipal or nuclear family structures. The inclusion of substitute mother figures in matrilineal genealogies points to the anti-heteronormative potential of alternative kinships formed through formal or improvised networks of women. These figures queer the limitations of the category mother, questioning the boundaries of the term by operating both within and outside of patriarchal notions of motherhood. Pedro Almodóvar’s 1999 film Todo sobre mi madre (All About My Mother) serves for me as a case study for investigating the matrilineal genealogies that obtain a spontaneous and improvised quality rather than reflect a normative family structure, instead incorporating friends, lovers, and even strangers. The matrifocal solidarity of the film indicates the subversive and utopian power of walking together. This paper begins by considering the idea of queer motherhood and then analyzes how Manuela as the mother without child, Manuela as substitute mother, and Lola as transgender father complicate the notion of family and the concept of mother.

This paper analyzes Local Energ y Communities within the paradigm of the commons and explores their key aspects of collective governance. Utilizing 18 in-depth semi-structured interviews with Spanish Energ y Communities, this study examines their internal dynamics and their context interactions. The findings contribute to the understanding of Energ y Communities, informing the development of more effective policies. The study reveals the adoption of diverse legal forms by Energ y Communities, characterized by decentralized and democratic structures aimed at facilitating a fair energ y transition. Moreover, they incorporate social inclusion mechanisms to mitigate economic exclusion. Finally, the commitment of these communities to reshaping the energ y model is underscored, which involves defining both the material and spatial boundaries of production and consumption.

Introducción: Con la creciente demanda de aplicaciones en el mercado, las empresas han priorizado atender las necesidades tecnológicas del usuario promedio en detrimento de aquellos con diversidad funcional. Esto ha convertido la accesibilidad en un desafío crucial en diversos contextos, especialmente en el ámbito educativo, donde la diversidad de personas que acceden a contenido web es notable. Objetivo: Este trabajo presenta un estudio basado en una inspección de accesibilidad de seis portales web pertenecientes a universidades en la ciudad de Cartagena. El objetivo es determinar la relación entre la inclusión de pautas de accesibilidad y los factores de posicionamiento web obtenidos a través de Webometrics. Metodología: Se definen cinco fases metodológicas: elección de los portales web, selección de herramientas de inspección, aplicación de la inspección de accesibilidad, análisis de los resultados y formulación de conclusiones y recomendaciones. Resultados: Como resultado del estudio, se ha determinado una correlación superior a 0.8 entre el ranking local de las universidades según Webometrics y el ranking de problemas de accesibilidad identificados mediante herramientas de inspección automática. Conclusiones: El uso de herramientas automáticas de evaluación web debería ser implementado por las instituciones educativas para mejorar la accesibilidad de los sitios institucionales. Esta revisión periódica y la corrección de errores es una buena práctica para mejorar el posicionamiento local e internacional. ABSTRACT Introduction: With the growing demand for applications in the market, companies have increasingly focused on meeting the technological needs of the average user, often overlooking those with functional diversity. Consequently, accessibility has emerged as a critical challenge across various contexts, particularly within the educational sphere, where the diverse range of individuals accessing web content is particularly pronounced. Objective: This paper presents a study centered on the accessibility inspection of six university websites located in the city of Cartagena. The primary aim is to ascertain the relationship between the integration of accessibility guidelines and web positioning factors as determined by Webometrics. Methodology: The methodology comprises five distinct phases: website selection, tool selection for inspection, execution of accessibility inspection, analysis of obtained results, and formulation of conclusions and recommendations. Results: The study revealed a correlation exceeding 0.8 between the local ranking of universities according to Webometrics and the ranking of accessibility issues identified through automated inspection tools. Conclusions: It is recommended that educational institutions adopt automatic web evaluation tools to enhance the accessibility of their institutional websites. This regular review and rectification of issues represent best practices for improving both local and international visibility and usability.
