La industria turística es una de las fuentes de ingresos más importantes para España. Según los últimos informes del INE, los ingresos por turismo constituyen más del 10% del PIB. Dentro de todas las actividades que componen este sector, se está consolidando un tipo de turismo cada vez más valorado y con un elevado potencial de desarrollo, el turismo MICE, también conocido como turismo de reuniones. Aunque no es el tipo de turismo más conocido, sí es uno de los más rentables y con más posibilidades de futuro. Este trabajo estudia el impacto económico real que supone este sector a nivel nacional y a nivel de la ciudad de Burgos, analizando qué conlleva y si realmente es una actividad rentable a largo plazo., Nowadays, tourism is one of the most important income sources in Spain. According to the last results of the Statistics National Institute, incomes from tourism contribute more than 10% to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). Among all the activities of this sector, one kind of tourism is developing quickly, and has become one of the best rated touristic activities. It is MICE tourism, also known as meeting tourism, which is not the most popular, but is becoming one of the most profitable activity in the tourism industry, and has great possibilities of growth. This paper has the aim to study the real economic impact that this sector has to the whole country, and more specifically to the city of Burgos, trying to analyze if it is actually a long-term profitable activity.
