The subject of this article is the manuscript missal MS 2000, kept at the National and University Library in Ljubljana and known as the Slavinski Missal. According to the information in the colophon in the manuscript, it was purchased on October 25, 1481, for the needs of the filial church of St Daniel in Zalog, near Postojna. Analysis of the manuscript has shown that it is a missal of the Aquileian Rite, though many texts are taken from the Salzburg missal and other missals from the area north of the Alps. It was written in Augsburg, while the illuminated initials are the work of an illuminator from the workshop of Johannes Bämler. Franciscus Preining, signed beneath the body text, was probably the younger brother of the more famous Jörg Preining, but his role in the creation of the manuscript is unclear. It is possible that he was the head of a scribal workshop or a dealer in manuscripts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
