Današnji trg ponudbe sodobnih športnih izdelkov je zelo obsežen in konkurenčen. Podjetja, ki so v globalnem prostoru vodilni proizvajali sodobnih športnih izdelkov, imajo kot prioritetno v svojih poslovnih strategijah zapisano inovativnost, s katero dosegajo konkurenčno prednost na trgu in s tem dosegajo ekonomski uspeh. To magistrsko delo obravnava problem menedžmenta inovacij na področju razvoja sodobnih športnih izdelkov. V tem delu je raziskano kakšen je menedžment inovacij pri dveh svetovno vodilnih proizvajalcev športnih izdelkov in kakšen je njihov postopek razvoja novih sodobnih športnih izdelkov ter katere sodobne inženirske metode uporabljajo pri tem. Uporabljene metode raziskovanja so teoretične. V primerjalni analizi so zajeti vidiki vpliva strategije podjetja in primerjava razvojnih postopkov obeh proizvajalcev in uporabljenih razvojnih inženirskih metod ob sodelovanju z ostalimi strokovnjaki, ki so potrebni za uspešen razvoj novih izdelkov na tem področju. Dognano je, da je menedžment inovacij področje, kjer mora podjetje upoštevati princip celovitosti, težiti k poslovni odličnosti in biti v svojem poslovanju fleksibilno, če želi biti konkurenčno v globalnem ekonomskem okolju. Kot rezultat dela je predstavljen prirejen model menedžmenta inovacij, katerega je mogoče uporabiti v slovenskem gospodarskem okolju. It is also well known today's sports industry market is very diverse and highly competitive. Therefore, it takes a well set global business strategy with prioritized role of innovation management to be successful in this field of industry. This paper examines and analyzes innovation management models applied in developing new sports products at two of the worlds' leading sports manufacturers. All research methods are theoretical. Based on findings, a modified innovation management model is created to be applied in Slovenian economic area. Applying a well established and updated innovation management model is for many reasons a crucial factor in the commercialization of the innovative idea. Analysis of innovation management models in this paper includes: revising the influence of the companies’ strategies on creating and applying innovation management models, revising innovative processes and development phases, determining which latest engineering methods and techniques are used in research and the development phase. As a result, a modified innovation management model in developing sports products is created to be applied in Slovenian economic area of sports industry. The modified model is a complex unity of systematically lead, planned and cost evaluated activities which support product development phases by applying latest engineering techniques
