To diplomsko delo predstavlja problematiko usmerjanja in dodeljevanja valovnih dolžin v optičnih omrežjih z valovnodolžinskim multipleksiranjem in z zmožnostjo optičnega obvoda. Predstavljene so hevristične metode, s katerimi problem najpogosteje rešujemo. This diploma thesis introduces the routing and wavelength assignment problem in wavelength-division-multiplexed optical networks with optical bypass capability. The beginning of the thesis describes the operation, structure and properties of such networks, and also puts forward some important factors which we commonly face when dealing with such networks, for example regeneration, traffic grooming and path protection. The core of the thesis discusses the routing and wavelength assignment problem for static and dynamic traffic. Presented are heuristic methods which are usually used to solve the problem. The thesis also describes the optical network simulator called Hegons and the way we carried out the simulation and comparison of the various heuristic methods.
