The paper is devoted to the analysis of a contemporary record made in 1831, in connection with the cholera epidemic, by the local parish priest Matej Puček in the registry of the deceased of the Roman Catholic parish of Liptovská Osada. From the record we can read a number of interesting and very valuable information for the analysis of the course of cholera in Liptovská Osada. In addition, the researched record also provides (indirectly) information about the application of nationwide anti-cholera measures in a particular locality. The paper also provides knowledge about the village and the parish of Liptovská Osada itself from the time of the creation of the examined document and brings closer the canonical legal norms of the Western rite, related to the conferral of the sacrament of anointing of the sick and funeral rites. The paper is devoted to the question of how the press reacted in the 19th century to the spread of epidemics, in this case, especially the cholera epidemic. Using the example of Catholic newspaper, as one of the important church periodicals published in Hungary since the middle of the 19th century, we present contemporary opinions on the origin, spread, examples of treatment and prevention of this disease. As it was recommended especially to priests and teachers. Those, especially in less developed areas where medical care was absent, often had to help broad sections of the rural population in the fight against disease with advice and practical activities.
