The sector of knowledge intensive services is very often neglected, although it is very important for today's economy – it is highly innovative, fast-growing and usually provides highly paid and stimulating employment, involved in the creation and transfer of knowledge. It provides knowledge-intensive inputs to other entities in the private and public sectors. It deals with activities concerned primarily with human capital, thanks to the knowledge and skills of employees who are available to other companies. The aim of the article is to estimate the Cobb-Douglass production function for the knowledge intensive services sector and to compare it with the production function of the manufacturing sector which is one of the decisive sources of gross domestic product. Data for the period 1995-2018 in the annual frequency come from the database of the Czech Statistical Office. The output of the industry is measured as gross output at current prices, the amount of capital expressed by means of Gross fixed capital formation and work as employment in the sector. The change in capital per worker has the highest impact on output in the case of the manufacturing industry, which is dependent on physical capital. In the case of the fields of information and communication activities and professional, scientific and technical activities, the increase in the capital adequacy of work will be reflected in a lower increase in output per worker. These sectors are linked to human capital, so the non-inclusion of human capital in the production function leads to misleading results.

This article deals with the issue of further corporate education in information and communication technologies (ICT) in companies in the Czech Republic, namely in the context of the start and the development of Industry 4.0. Enterprises of all size categories, i.e. micro enterprises, small and medium enterprises and large enterprises from all three economic sectors, i.e. primary, secondary and tertiary sectors were addressed through a questionnaire survey. The goal of the questionnaire survey was to ascertain what priorities of further education companies had in relation to their present and future needs, and particularly whether the education in the field of information technologies, which is important for the maintenance of their competitiveness in relation to Industry 4.0 are among these priorities. Nevertheless, the results of the research have shown that the required priority is not given to education in the field of information technologies in companies. They have actually proven that only 38 per cent of 126 companies give high or maximum priority to education in the field of information technologies.

Recently, the system of care for endangered children has changed from the institutional as well as legislative point of view. In one of the partial areas of ongoing changes, research activities realised within the Students’ Grant Competition called The Factors Affecting the Form of Substitute Family Care are being focused. We deal with this topic because various forms of substitute family care are distinguished in the Czech Republic, where children are placed for various reasons, but we do not know the correct context of such placements. The main aim of the realised research was to find out the frequency of choosing a given form of placing children in substitute family care according to followed variables. The research sample of the quantitative research was consisted of children placed in one of the forms of substitute family care in the Moravian-Silesian region.

The goal of the article was to at least partly systematize the knowledge gained by Slovak text studies as a generalizing work in this field does not exist in our country. The ideas built on the scientific articles within text studies written in the second half of the 20th century. The beginning of Slovak text studies in the 1950s is represented by the works by Jozef Felix, Karol Rosenbaum and Mikuláš Bakoš. Later studies by Nora Krausová, František Miko and Peter Zajac form the next stage of its development and with regard to the future seem to be trend-stting. The mutual interconnections of the contents of the articles form the original basis of Slovak text studies as they individually deal with the subject in question. Owing to their communicative and inspiring nature, the summary can be considered a good starting point for an effective exploitation of their potential. Based on the study of the texts used at the birth of Slovak text studies it can be concluded that the most serious practical problems are related to the way texts are edited and the choice of the basic text. Using the texts written by younger authors the scientific character of text studies was demonstrated as well as how they are bound with literary theory and why they are important for the correct understanding of literary texts. In attempt of scientifying text studies the relation between theoretical reflection and practical activity was given consideration. It was noted that there is the need to solve partial problems by understanding their roots correctly. The summary and assessment of Slovak text studies in the article map their most important topics and debatable issues, relate the results of the research by the literary scientists engaged in this field and draw attention to their various approaches. They also raise questions about the direction of Slovak text studies in the future.

V 90. letech 20. století začala v České republice dramatickým způsobem klesat prvosňatečnost. Mladí lidé spolu stále častěji žijí nesezdaně, a pokud do manželství vstupují, pak sňatek odkládají do stále vyššího věku. V našem článku analyzujeme, jaké důvody vedou mladé lidi k takovému chování. Testujeme především, zdali i v Česku platí hypotéza Hoffmann-Nowotnyho, podle které je nízká sňatečnost spřažena s nízkou porodností. Naše analýzy jsou založeny na dvou rozsáhlých reprezentativních šetřeních české populace z roku 2005, která poskytují informace o tom, jakým způsobem mladí lidé vnímají trend klesající sňatečnosti, v jakých typech soužití žijí, jak hodnotí různé formy soužití a které z nich považují za ideální ve své aktuální životní situaci. Výsledky našeho výzkumu ukazují, že v současné mladé české generaci jsou pro formu vztahu mezi mužem a ženou rozhodující především úvahy rodinné. Pokud mladí muži a mladé ženy již myslí na děti, spojují je se svazkem potvrzeným sňatkem. Pokud na rodinu zatím nemyslí, představa manželství je jim vzdálena. Určitou výjimkou, jak prokázala naše výzkumná data, jsou ovšem ti, kteří již mají dítě, ale nejsou sezdáni. U nich je preference nesezdaného soužití s dítětem/dětmi relativně vysoká.
