The aim of this research was to determine the relation of semantic abilities and executive functions in older adults (above 65 years). The sample included 30 participants, between 65 and 85 years. The participants were divided into two age categories, the first category (from 65-75 years) consisting of 16 participants (53,3%) and the second category (above 75 years) consisting of 14 participants (46,6%). The educational background of participants was expressed in 13 participants (43,3%) with primary school education and 17 participants (43,3%) with secondary school education or university education. We implemented Sociodemographic Data Questionare to prevent older adults with neurological disrders, hearing or visual impairment from participating in the research. Semantic Test and Verbal Fluency Test were chosen to mesaure semantic abilities of the participants. Executive functions were mesaured by Stroop Test. We used Analysis of variance (ANOVA), Chi square (x2), t-test, Pirson correlation coefficient for statistic data processing. Results showed statistically significant correlation between semantic abilities and executive functions in older adults. Also, the results showed a statistically significant difference between education level and achievements on semantic tests. Higly educatied participants achieved better achievements then low educated ones. The statistically significant differences on the executive functions tests were found between education level and ages. Younger and higher educated participants showed better performances than older and less educated ones. The results indicates that executive functions were more vulnerabile on age differences, than semantic abilities. Циљ овог истраживачког рада био је утврђивање повезаности лексичко-семантичких спсобности и егзекутивних функција код старих људи (преко 65 година живота). Узорак се састојао од 30 испитаника, старости од 65 до 85 година. Испитаници су били подељени у 2 старосне категорије, са 16 испитаника (53,3%) из категорије-млада старост и 14 испитаника (46,6%) из категорије-средња и позна старост. Испитаници су били подељени у 2 категорије по степену образовања, са 13 испитаника (43,3%) са завршеном основном школом и 17 испитаника (56,6%) са завршеном средњом или вишом/високом школом. Подаци о одсусутву неуролошких, слушних и визуелних дефицита, добијени су на основу Упитника о социодемографским подацима, који је конструисан за потребе овог истраживања. За процену лексичко-семантичких способности, коришћени су Семантички тест и Тест вербалне флуентности. За процену егзекутивних функција коришћен је Струп тест. У статистичкој обради података коришћени су: анализа варијансе (ANOVA), x2, t-тест, Пирсонов коефицијент корелације и аритметичка средина. Резултати су показали да постоји повезаност између лексичко-семантичких способности и егзекутивних функција код старих људи. Резултати су такође показали и да постоји разлика у постигнућима испитаника на тестовима за процену лексичко-семантичких способности, у односу на степен образовања. Испитаници са вишим степеном образовања, остварили су боља постигнућа. Такође, резултати показују постојање разлике у постигнућима на тесту за испитивање егзекутивних функција, у односу на године старости и степен образовања. Испитаници из категорије младих старих, као и испитаници вишег образовног нивоа, били су успешнији на овом тесту. Ови резултати показују да су егзекутивне функције осетљивије на године старости, у односу на лексичко-семантичке способности.

У раду је дат аналитички преглед миграционих кретања из Југославије током друге половине двадесетог века. Акценат је стављен на његове последње деценије, као и најновији тип исељеништва који подразумева миграције високостручних кадрова. Специфичност нових миграција огледа се и у њиховој структури и у избору симбола етничког идентитета. The territory of the former Yugoslavia (within all of its structures and forms during the second half of the 20Č century - from FPRY, SFRY, FRY, to Serbia and Montenegro) was the subject of more or less intensive external and internal migrations. The first larger wave of emigration occurred immediately after the end of World War II, mostly due to the political events in the country that concerned ideological orientation of national-liberation war winners. In most cases, the furthest destinations of these emigrants were overseas countries. The remoteness of the new "homelands", among other reasons, made these relocations permanent. In the beginning of 1960's a new wave of mass immigrations occurred due to the "liberation" of Yugoslavia's economy and politics, and the need of labor force in the countries of Western Europe. These were the economic, so-called labor-migrations that were supposed to have a temporary character. During the period of 1964-1973, Yugoslav citizens living in Western European countries numbered approximately one million and one hundred thousand, out of which two-fifths were Serbs. In the mid 1970's, a migration trend seemed to slightly decline, only to increase again in the 1980's, and especially during the 1990's, however with the new socio-economic-political background and different characteristics than the preceding ones. It could be argued though, that these new migrations of Yugoslav citizens sum up all the characteristics of the preceding ones, being, at the same time, very dramatic in nature considering that the migrations were most of the time the only available option for emigrants. In general, these migrations are characterized by relocation of whole families, absence of a long-term plan considering the future (duration of stay, return to the home country), money investment in the home country, and relatively high although diverse educational level. Actually, based on comparison between censuses in 1981 and 1991, it is evident that in 1991 more people with a high school diploma gymnasium, higher and academic education have left the country than in 1981. The available data from 2001 census consist only of a relative number of Yugoslav citizens living abroad, around 400,000, but this number does not include citizens from Kosovo and Metohija, or Montenegro. Only when the final census data come out, will it be possible to analyze and compare migrations from 1991 -2001, although considering census gathering and its limitations, it is clear that many trends will remain hidden.
