Introduction. Relativistic, high intensity and small emittance electron bunches are the basis of a future linear collider and free electron laser projects. Drive beam generation in a wakefield structure employing for power extraction and acceleration low loss dielectrics like microwave ceramics, fused silica and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) diamond were considered.Objective. We report here our experimental testing of a ceramic material with extremely low loss tangent at GHz frequency ranges allowing the realization of high efficiency wakefield acceleration. We also present Barium Strontium Titanium oxides (BST) ferroelectric material, which is a critical tuning element of the 400 MHz superconducting radiofrequency (RF) tuner developed and tested by the CERN/Euclid Techlabs collaboration. The materials discussed here also include quartz and CVD diamonds that are capable of supporting the high RF electric fields generated by electron beams or pulsed high power microwaves. These materials have been optimized or specially designed for accelerator applications.Materials and methods. The ceramic materials for accelerators, commonly used for the dielectric based accelerating structures, have to withstand high gradient accelerating fields, and prevent potential charging by electron beams. Correspondingly, the ceramic materials, fused silica and CVD diamond were tested with high power wakefield accelerating structures at Argonne Wakefield Accelerator of Argonne National Laboratory. Some of the presented here ceramic materials were tested at X-band 11.4 GHz magnicon high power source.Results. Low loss microwave ceramics, fused silica, and CVD diamonds have been considered as materials for dielectric based accelerating structures to study of the physical limitations encountered driving > 100 MV/m at microwave and ~ GV/m at THz frequencies in a dielectric based wakefield accelerator. Various ceramic compositions were high power and electron beam tested at X-band 11.4 GHz magnicon power source and Argonne Wakefield Accelerator correspondingly. Special attention was paid to the CVD diamond cylindrical Ka-band 35 GHz wakefield structure development. Finally, the dielectric based structure tuning was demonstrated by varying the permittivity of the BST ferroelectric layer by temperature changes and by applying an external direct current electric field across the ferroelectric. This allows us to control the effective dielectric constant of the composite system and therefore, to control the structure frequency during operation. The same type of ferroelectric material was used for the Ferroelectric Fast Reactive tuner (FE-FRT) development. In a world first, CERN has tested the prototype FE-FRT with a superconducting cavity, and frequency tuning has been successfully demonstrated.Conclusion. Recent results on the development and experimental testing of advanced dielectric materials for accelerator applications are presented. Low loss microwave ceramics, quartz and CVD diamond are considered. We presented our experimental results on wakefield generation in microwave frequency ranges with the dielectric based accelerating structures. Special attention was paid to the experimental results on high power testing at X-band of the externally powered dielectric based components. Finally, we present here first experimental demonstration of ferroelectric tunable microwave ceramic for accelerator application, which includes both tunable dielectric wakefield accelerating structure and ferroelectric based fast high power tuner for superconducting cavities. The experimental results presented here are critical for the advanced dielectric wakefield accelerating structures and other components development intended for the future linear collider projects.

Экспериментально исследована работа металлопленочных конденсаторов в режимах высокой токовой нагрузки. Обнаружены изменения частотных зависимостей емкости и диэлектрических потерь в процессе деградации. Было установлено, что в форсированном режиме работы эффективная емкость конденсаторов резко снижается в области высоких частот (более 1 кГц). Также обнаружено увеличение диэлектрических потерь и образование максимумов на частотной зависимости. Проведено численное моделирование процесса деградации контактных узлов. Результаты численного моделирования показали, что изменение частотных зависимостей емкости и диэлектрических потерь конденсатора связано с деградацией контактных узлов и последующим неравномерным распределением потенциала по электродам конденсатора. На основании экспериментальных и расчетных данных предложена эквивалентная схема металлопленочного конденсатора, учитывающая деградацию электродов в процессе эксплуатации в форсированном режиме., We have experimentally studied the operation of metallized film capacitors in high current overload mode. We have detected changes in the frequency dependencies of capacitance and dissipation factor were found. It was found that effective capacitance rapidly decreases in the high frequency region (more than 1 kHz). Moreover, an increase in the dissipation factor increasing and the appearance of maxima in the frequency dependence were found. The degradation of contact edges was numerically modelled. The results of numerical modeling showed that the changes in the frequency dependencies of capacitance and dissipation factor is due to the degradation of contact edges and the subsequent non-uniform distribution of electric potential in capacitor electrodes. Based on the experimental and calculated data, we have suggested an equivalent circuit of a metallized film capacitor. This circuit takes into account the degradation of electrodes during operation in overload mode.

Features of the data processing procedures of multiple measurements of the dielectric loss tangent of the high-voltage insulation, which are based on the comparison method, were considered. Three procedures were compared: the one procedure uses an assignment of a particular standard object for comparison, and two procedures don't use assignments of the special standard objects. Expressions of methodical errors of studied procedures were obtained. Analysis and calculations, which use the obtained expressions were made. Evaluations showed that an influence of a change of the tangent of dielectric loss of one from the monitoring objects on results of estimation of the tangents of other monitoring objects is the distinctive feature of the procedures without assignment of the standard object. Errors of these procedures more than errors of the traditional procedure, with assignment of the standard object. The study demonstrated that procedures without assignment of standard objects lead to difficultly predictable methodological errors, which hinder to estimate the actual value of the loss tangent and to estimate outcomes of the monitoring, by means comparing with allowable values. Moreover, the decrease of estimations of loss tangents of all objects, as a result of occurrence of at least one the object with strongly bad parameters, hides occurrence of other unsuccessful objects with smaller deviations and makes difficult recognition of such deviations at early stages. Improvements in processing techniques which reduce earlier specified errors and reduce the amount of measurements are proposed. The study results are useful in monitoring and diagnostic of basic insulation of current transformers or high-voltage bushings., Рассмотрены особенности методик обработки результатов множественных измерений тангенса угла диэлектрических потерь высоковольтной изоляции, основанных на методе сравнения. Проанализированы известные методики определения тангенса потерь с выделением отдельного эталонного объекта и без выделения такого эталона. Получены выражения для определения методических погрешностей. Проведено сравнение и показано, что применение методик обработки без выделения отдельного эталонного объекта может приводить к существенным сложностям в оценке результатов контроля изоляции. Предложены усовершенствования методик обработки, уменьшающие указанные погрешности методик и трудоемкость измерений., Розглянуто особливості методик обробки результатів множинних вимірів тангенсу діелектричних втрат високовольтної ізоляції, заснованих на методі порівняння. Проаналізовано відомі методики визначення тангенсу втрат з призначенням окремого еталонного об'єкта і без призначення такого еталона. Отримано вирази для визначення методичних похибок. Проведено порівняння і показано, що застосування методик обробки без призначення окремого еталонного об'єкта може призводити до суттєвих ускладнень в оцінці результатів контролю ізоляції. Запропоновано удосконалення методик обробки, що зменшують названі похибки методик і трудомісткість вимірювань.

В статье рассмотрены динамические силовые переходные процессы в канатопроводе однобарабанного и двухбарабанного подъемников с учетом диссипации канатов и демпфирующих устройств. Колебательные процессы в канатах подъемников описаны дифференциальными уравнениями в моментах сил упругости с постоянными коэффициентами и графически показаны на осциллограммах. Определены динамические параметры канатов подъемников при варьировании коэффициентами диссипации демпфирующих устройств., У статті розглянуті динамічні силові перехідні процеси в канатопроводі однобарабанного і двохбарабанного підйомників з урахуванням дисипації канатів і демпфуючих пристроїв. Коливальні процеси в канатах підйомників описані диференціальними рівняннями в моментах сил пружності з постійними коефіцієнтами і графічно показані на осцилограмах. Визначені динамічні параметри канатів підйомників при варіюванні коефіцієнтами дисипації демпфуючих пристроїв., Dynamic power transients in the rope wire of single-drum and double-drum hoists taking into account the dissipation of ropes and damping devices, which significantly absorb longitudinal vibrations, reduce the amplitude and time of vibration damping are considered in the paper. Oscillatory processes in hoist ropes are described by differential equations in moments of elastic forces with constant factors and graphically shown on the oscillograms. Dynamic parameters of hoist ropes (maximum amplitude of dynamic moment, stationary dynamic loads, rope dynamic factor) when varying the dissipation factor of damping devices are determined. As a result of researches, the dependencies of dynamic factors of hoist ropes on varying the values of dissipation factor of damping devices are constructed, which show that, with an increase in the dissipation factor, dynamic factor of long ropes reaches almost 1 and of short ropes decreases slower because of their high rigidity. Using damping devices will allow to reduce the dynamic loads in the hoist ropes and improve performance characteristics of hoists in general.
