The article is devoted to the source study of «The Shanghai Life», its dissemination outside China and current collection situation. Due to the absence of this newspaper in the collections of Shanghai archives and libraries, information about its collection in archives, libraries and museums of other countries is relevant for both Chinese and Russian researchers. For several years, the author of this article has been trying to gather the most complete collection of issues of this newspaper and to reconstruct a comprehensive picture of the history of the newspaper’s dissemination outside China, to know the current collection situation of this newspaper in various libraries, archives and museums around the world.

The article analyzes the changes that took place during the solution of the so-called Chinese question on the basis of the journals of the Interdepartmental Consultation under the board of the Chinese Eastern Railway, which have been preserved in the Russian State Historical Archive. The peak of activity in this direction first of the tsarist government, and then of the Provisional government was from the second half of 1916 to the autumn of 1917. Documents show that the labor of recruited Chinese workers was used in many sectors of the economy. But the most important it received in the railway construction. Russia's military operations had slowed down the colonization of the Far East. Under these conditions, the arrival of tens of thousands of Chinese workers in the European part of the country became a peculiar reflection of the eastern direction of Russia's domestic and foreign policy. The attitude toward this phenomenon in social and political circles has changed since the formation of the Provisional Government. While pursuing the course of tsarism in solving the problem of the crisis of workers' hands, the Provisional Government simultaneously made a number of concessions to the Chinese mission in Petrograd. In particular, its representatives were given the opportunity to become acquainted with the working and living conditions of the Chinese workers. Rising unemployment and protest moods in Russian society eventually forced the Provisional Government, shortly before its fall, to abandon the transportation of foreign laborers to Russia.

This paper deals with the history of first Russian newspaper in Shanghai: Russian section of «Shanghai Gazette». With a detailed analysis of this newspaper, I have succeeded in identifying five editorial staffs of the Russian section: the first SocialRevolutionary staff, the Bolshevik staff, the White Army staff, the second SocialRevolutionary staff and the Monarchic staff. The author concluded that the editorial staffs of Russian section don’t follow a policy of the Editor-in-chief Chen Youren, colleague of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. At that time the members of Kuomintang couldn’t clearly know about the political situation of Russia, and from 1918 to 1920 there were very few people in China who knew the Russian and could translate Russian articles into Chinese. This is why the Editor-in-chief Chen Youren hadn’t notice that there were a large number of anti-Bolshevik elements in his Kuomintang newspaper.

The paper studies the historical and cultural associative meanings of the lexeme BIRCH in the Russian culture and the lexeme BAMBOO in Chinese by analyzing the results of the perception process of these objects, their concepts and images by native speakers of the Russian and Chinese languages. The relevance of the research is due to the growing attention of modern linguistics to comparative cultural studies, including the number of comparative works on the Russian and Chinese languages, the importance of describing linguistic and cultural differences for the development of international economic and cultural relations between China and Russia. The research material involves phraseological units, proverbs, myths, poems and literary works, as well as historical materials, customs and traditions of the two nations. This paper uses research methods such as descriptive, contextual, comparative, the method of component analysis and cognitive modeling. As a result, it was determined that birch occupies a significant place in the Russian culture with the meanings of “motherland”, “mother”, “woman”, “bride”, “girl”. Bamboo in Chinese has only positive connotations, including “unshakable quality”, “spiritual purity”, “humble character”, “high aspirations.” It is concluded that birch as a symbol of Russia is a lacunar concept in the Chinese culture, while bamboo as the personification of a “perfect gentleman” in Chinese has no cultural connotation in Russian. Despite mismatched meanings in two languages, birch and bamboo must be recognized as equivalents in terms of cultural significance and the high frequency of symbolic use in poetry and other precedent texts.

A comprehensive model for deep dynamics in Asia has been developed from the data on the evolution of melting anomalies in the context of lithospheric plate motions, interactions, orogeny, and rifting. The key components of our model are the primary (transition layer) and secondary (upper mantle) melting anomalies (Gobi, Baikal, and North Transbaikalia; and Hangay, Sayan, and Vitim, respectively). It is inferred that the primary melting anomalies originated at the beginning of the latest geodynamic stage (ca. 90 Ma) as a result of the transition layer distortion by lower mantle flows. Such primary anomalies were caused by avalanche collapses of the slab material that had been stagnated under the closed fragments of the Solonker, Ural-Mongolian paleooceans and the Mongol-Okhotsk Bay of Paleopacific. The secondary melting anomalies occurred due to the Early-Middle Miocene structural reorganization in the Pacific-Asian and Indo-Asian interaction zones. The primary melting anomalies governed the spatial distribution of forces and processes of the latest geodynamic stage. The secondary melting anomalies resulted from the lithospheric motions relative to the primary anomalies and provided for the development of orogeny and rifting. The Baikal-Mongolian corridor of asthenospheric flows was limited by the lateral zones of convergent interactions between India and Asia in the southwest, and North America and Asia in the northeast. In these lateral zones, Late Phanerozoic paleoslabs and ascending mantle fluxes were revealed in the transition layer, as well as in the upper mantle, without any destruction by the asthenospheric flows.

Labor resource is the necessary productive factor in regional economic development, and one of important indexes to evaluate regional economic competitiveness. The great economic achievement brought by the 30-year reform and opening up of China is due to the fact that China brought the backward advantage of “demographic dividend” into play, promoted the fast development of industrialization and urbanization, and became the second largest economy in the world. The entity of “demographic dividend” is the non-agricultural migrant population, i.e., migrant workers. The transfer employment of migrant workers has typical regional liquidity, and the imbalance of regional economy causes the flow of many migrant workers. In order to achieve harmonious development and coordinated development, underdeveloped areas must understand the character and regulation, adopt positive industrial policy and supportive policy, guide the reasonable flow of migrant workers, and realize the transfer of local employment and citizenization of migrant workers, which can enhance regional economic competitiveness

The article deals with the analysis of the criminal law regulations in the Russian Federation, Mongolia, specifying the cause for release from criminal responsibility and punishment in consequence of some situation changes. The analysis of the CVR criminal law compromise institute norms has been conducted. The legal premises of criminal law legislation concerning the cause of release from punishment in consequence of the situation change in the criminal law of the CVR have been distinguished.

Annexin A8 (ANXA8) is a member of the annexin family, which had been reported to regulate multiple cancer cellular processes including proliferation, metastasis and inflammation. However, the specific role of ANXA8 in lung cancer cell biology remains unknown. Our previous transcriptome study revealed that ANXA8 mRNA was downregulated in curcumin analog (MHMD) -treated human non-small lung cancer cells (A549 cell line). Here, we continued to study the ANXA8 expression in A549 cells using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and Western blotting, compared with that in human normal bronchial epithelium cells (BE-AS-2B cell line). Overexpression of ANXA8 via transfection of pEGFP-ANXA8 recombinant vector contributed to the proliferation and migration of A549 cells. Moreover, the cell cycle protein cyclin E1 was upregulated in ANXA8-transfected A549 cells. Knockdown of ANXA8 using an RNA interference technique decreased A549 cell viability and restrained their migration in vitro. The expression levels of multiple cellular factors, including EGFR, PI3K, Akt, mTOR, p70S6K and 4EBP1, in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway were also altered by ANXA8 knockdown or overexpression in A549 cells, which confirmed the activation of the EGFR/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway by ANXA8. The present results provided evidence to support further investigation of the functional identification of ANXA8 in lung cancer cells in the future.

Prediction and analysis of molecular structure and biochemical function are of theoretical guiding significance for gene discovery and application, and considered as one of the central problem of computational biology. Here, some characteristic features of chalcone synthase (CHS) family from Scutellaria baicalensis were described via bioinformatic analysis, and showed as following: the nucleic acid sequences and amino acid sequences of three chs member genesshared high similarity inthe molecular structures and physicochemical properties; SbCHS proteins were localized to the cytosol, and possessed a good hydrophobic nature, with lacking any transmembrane topological structure. The phylogram analysis suggested that they were a group genes with significant functional association and genetic conservation. The secondary structures of the SbCHSs were mainly composed of alpha-helixes and random coils, and the tertiary structures contained malonyl CoA linkers, besides, each of CHS-A and CHS-B with N-glycosylation motif included. Taken together, these results demonstrate that CHS family from S. baicalensis has the typical molecular structure and function of chalcone synthase, compared with the experimental data for Medicago sativa CHS protein.

Human protein kinases make up a large superfamily of homologous proteins, which are related by virtue of their kinase domains (also known as catalytic domains). Here we report the cloning and characterization of a novel human MAST4 (microtubule associated serine/threonine kinase family member 4) gene, which locates on human chromosome 5q13. The MAST4 cDNA is 7587 base pairs in length and encodes a putative protein of 2435 amino acids which contains a serine/threonine kinase domain and a PDZ domain. MAST4 protein has 64%, 63%, 59% and 39% identical aminoacid residues with MAST1, MAST2, MAST3 and MASTL respectively. RT-PCR analysis revealed relatively high expression level of MAST4 in most normal human tissues, with an exception of in testis, small intestine, colon and peripheral blood leukocyte.

The short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDRs) play important roles in body's metabolism. We cloned a novel mouse SDR cDNA which encodes a deduced HSD-like protein with a conserved SDR domain and a SCP2 domain. The 1.8 kb cDNA consists of 11 exons and is mapped to mouse chromosome 4B3. The corresponding gene is widely expressed in normal mouse tissues and its expression level in liver increases after inducement with cholesterol food. The predicted mouse HSDL2 protein, which has a peroxisomal target signal, is localized in the cytoplasm of NIH 3T3 cells.
