Undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD) is one of most common diseases of the connective tissue. High frequency of UCTD in population along with the fact that it can provoke a number of other diseases make UCTD an important object of the modern biomedical research in the areas of cardiology, neurology, rheumatology and pulmonology. Modern diagnostics and determination of the predisposition to UCTD allow elaboration of personalized therapy. In particular, Mg-containing supplements and medications can be effectively used in the therapy of UCTD. In one of our previous works we have analyzed possible molecular mechanisms of UCTD etiology as well as therapeutic action of magnesium. The use of data on nucleotide polymorphisms as complementation of standard medical diagnostics is one of perspective trends of the post-genomic medical research. The present work suggest a number of nucleotide polymorphisms that can be used in genetic association analyses of the UCTD as of well as therapeutic efficiency of magnesium treatment. Selection and analysis of the polymorphisms was done on the base of molecular mechanisms we had proposed earlier, comprehensive analysis of published data and also with the use of an integral approach to analysis of the functional effects of the nucleotide polymorphisms and corresponding amino acid substitutions.

Gastrobiol--a new preparation comprising a mixture of lyophilized sea-buckthorn oil, vitamin U, and magnesium oxide, produces a pronounced antiulcerous action on the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum. The regenerative effect of gastrobiol is more pronounced than that of pure sea-buckthorn oil and methyluracil.

Etiological factors and pathogenetic mechanisms were studied in 538 patients with nephrolithiasis. By composition of uroliths and salts, all the patients were divided into groups by types of urolithiasis (oxalate, urate, phosphate, cystic and mixed). After elimination of the uroliths using different methods, metaphylaxis of nephrolithiasis was conducted in all the patients. It varied with type of lithogenesis, etiology and pathogenesis. Antirecurrence therapy included diet with restriction of lithogenic substances, endogenic reduction of lithogenic metabolites and measures to decrease and block crystallization and lithogenesis. The treatment has diminished the incidence of recurrences from 32.3 to 9.6% (total), from 14.4 to 5.3% (in oxalate type), 47.2 to 16.9% (in phosphate type), 39.7 to 6.7% (in urate type), 40.5 to 17.7% (in mixed type).

An investigation of the rate of the 2,4-dinitrophenol absorption from the digestive tract into the blood with the use of an antidote and its components (activated charcoal, tannin, magnesium oxide), stach water and paraffin oil demonstrated the activated charcoal and magnesium oxide to be the best antidotes among the ones studied. The antidote exerts a somewhat less marked, but still quite a strong action.
