BACKGROUND: dyslipidemia is currently considered to be one of cardiovascular risk factors. Angiotensin II receptor type I (AGTR1) genetic polymorphisms are known as candidate genes for hypertension, diabetes, as well as for diabetes and obesity complications. Until now, there are not much data on how 1166A>C (rs5186) polymorphism of the AGTR1 gene correlates with Northerners’ carbohydrate and lipid metabolism disorders. In addition, the data are contradictory. Following on from this, we see it is relevant to study the subject.AIM: this research assessed variants of 1166A>C (rs5186) polymorphism of the AGTR1 gene as a predictor of dyslipidemia, carbohydrate metabolism disorders, overweight, and hypertension.MATERIALS AND METHODS: the North residents from Magadan Region, Caucasian by ethnicity, aged from 24 to 56 (average age 43.7± 1.4 yrs) participated in the survey. By real-time polymerase chain reaction we determined the single nucleotide polymorphism of the AGTR1 (rs5186) gene. We also analyzed physical development and cardiovascular variables as well as the concentrations of glucose, insulin, glycosylated hemoglobin, C-reactive protein, total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The insulin resistance index and the atherogenicity coefficient were calculated using standard methods.RESULTS: the examined subjects were one hundred and one volunteers. According to the results of genetic analysis, 55 people were assigned to the group of homozygotes for the wild type (AA) and 46 people were assigned to the group of the AGTR1*C allele variant carriers (heterozygotes and homozygotes AC+CC). Our findings contributed to the evidence on more unfavorable lipid pictures showed by the AGTR1*C allele variant carriers: significantly high values of total cholesterol (5,77±0,11, р=0.045), low-density lipoproteins (3,87±0,09, р=0.009), triglycerides (1,43±0,06, р=0.035), and atherogenicity coefficient (3,61±0,10, р=0.001), along with significantly low values of high-density lipoproteins (1,30±0,03, р=0,008). The above indicators were observed as opposed to significantly high fasting glycemia (5,74±0,14, р=0.006) and glycosylated hemoglobin (5,74±0,09, р=0.001) exhibited by the AA homozygotes subjects whose indices could be defined as the state of prediabetes. No intergroup differences were found in anthropometric or cardiovascular variables.CONCLUSION: thus, we could see impairments in the lipid pictures of the AGTR1*С polymorphic variant carriers along with the optimization of carbohydrate metabolism and no effect on the blood pressure or anthropometric characteristics.

The impact of nano-selenium supplementation on lipid metabolism, liver enzymes, renal function, and protein levels in male lambs was investigated in this study during a 60-day period. Lambs were divided into two groups - control and experimental, which were administered nanoselenium orally at a dosage of 0.5 mg/ kg of feed once a day, daily. Each group consisted of five male lambs. According to the findings, cholesterol levels dropped significantly at days 45 (P 0.01) and 60 (P 0.05), whereas triglyceride levels significantly rose at days 15 and 30 (P 0.01). Throughout the trial, the levels of uric acid and creatinine were constant. At days 15 and 60, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels were significantly decreased (P 0.05), while at days 45 and 60, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels declined (P 0.01 and P 0.05, respectively). At days 15 and 30, albumin levels dropped significantly (0.05), but day 60 saw an increase in globulin levels significantly (P 0.05). The drop in AST and ALP levels might be a sign that liver function has possibly improved. However, the drop in albumin levels and rise in globulin levels raise the possibility that taking nano-selenium supplements may affect how proteins are metabolized. The findings of this study concluded that the effects of nano-selenium supplementation on lipid metabolism, liver enzymes, renal function, and protein levels in male lambs were time-dependent. In addition to possible improvements in liver function based on decreased AST and ALP levels and changes in albumin and globulin levels, the study also noticed an initial transient increase in triglyceride levels that was followed by a decline in cholesterol levels. To determine the time-dependent changes in liver function, liver enzymes, as well as renal function in response to nano-selenium supplementation in male lambs was objective of this study.

Research objectives: to study the clinical effectiveness of alternative complex therapy of vegetative syndrome in menopausal patients using L-arginine and xylitol drugs. Materials and methods. The clinical prospective study included 50 patients in the early postmenopausal period with natural menopause, neurovegetative and psychoemotional manifestations of the climacteric syndrome. According to the Life extension strategy, patients received intravenous L-arginine (Tivortin drug) and xylitol solution with electrolytes (Xylat drug) for endothelial protection and correction of insulin resistance in order to treat climacteric syndrome. Modified Kupperman menopausal index, serum triglyceride, cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and very-low-density lipoprotein levels were determined in all women. Examinations were performed before the start of therapy and 3 months after the end of treatment. Results. The Life extension therapeutic strategy as an alternative comprehensive therapy of the vegetative syndrome in menopausal patients contributed to a reliable reduction of the manifestations of the climacteric syndrome. The advantage of combined therapy involving L-arginine and xylitol was manifested in a significant decrease in diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.043); reduction of the Kupperman index (p = 0.002) and the average score of vasomotor symptoms (p = 0.02). There was also a significant decrease in the serum level of insulin (p = 0.00007), HOMA index (p = 0.01), low-density lipoproteins (p = 0.04), and triglycerides (p = 0.03). The selected therapy was well tolerated during the observation period. Conclusions. The combined therapy involving L-arginine and xylitol in the early postmenopausal period with neurovegetative and psychoemotional manifestations of the climacteric syndrome had a pronounced clinical effect, which consisted in a significant reduction of vegetative disorders and stabilization of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. The given therapeutic strategy can be considered as an alternative therapy in patients with climacteric disorders when phytotherapy is ineffective and when there are contraindications or limitations to menopausal hormone therapy. The results of this study showed the safety of the Life extension strategy.

Obesity contributes to the development of severe concomitant diseases and substantially degrades the quality of life. This pathological condition is caused by multiple risk factors including hazardous workplace exposures and genetic predisposition. The ApoE gene participates in regulation of lipid metabolism. Its most significant polymorphisms are rs429358 and rs7412 with the resulting е2, е3 and е4 alleles. This study did not consider effects of electromagnetic fields generated by office electrical equipment or the lifestyle of the subjects. The sample included people with a large age difference due to the rarity of the apolipoprotein е2 and е4 alleles. The sample was not standardized by age and years of work experience. The aim of this study was to investigate associations between the ApoE gene polymorphisms and body mass index in workers employed at a metallurgic plant. We examined 328 male office workers and workers of a converter workshop. The body mass index (BMI) was calculated based on the results of instrumental measurements of weight and height using the conventional formula. DNA was isolated from peripheral blood using the LumiPure DNA gel extraction kit, and polymorphisms were determined using amplification by Calero et al with modifications and horizontal agarose gel electrophoresis. The data were analyzed using the Kruskal – Wallis test. Statistically significant differences were established in the blue-collar workers. The highest mean BMI value was established in the e2 allele carriers. We found that people with the e2 allele in their genotype were more prone to obesity. We also assume a potential association between the unsafe work environment and a more pronounced manifestation of the phenotype. These findings can be used for identifying individuals at risk and taking timely preventive measures.

An overview analysis highlighting the possibilities of solving the problem of preventing the formation of an obesoand diabetogenic environment, preventing inflammatory processes in adipose tissue, imbalance in the mechanisms of neuroendocrine interactions of relationships based on an integrated approach, characterized by a harmonious combination of individualized correction of the applied diet with hypothermic stimulation.

Introduction. A disorder of lipid metabolism is very often observed in patients with chronic viral hepatitis B and C, which can lead to the progressive damage of the liver parenchyma with future severe evolution of chronic liver pathology. The disturbance of cholesterol metabolism under the action of viral, metabolic and other factors leads to the pathological accumulation of free cholesterol in hepatocytes, and the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease with steatosis or steatohepatitis and liver fibrosis. The aim of the study was to study certain indices of lipid metabolism in patients with chronic viral hepatitis HBV, HCV and mixed viral etiology HBV+HCV in reference to cytolysis syndrome. Material and methods. In the study participated 138 patients with chronic viral hepatitis of chronic viral etiology HBV, HCV and HBV+HCV. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the etiology of viral etiology: group I consisted of patients (n = 58) with chronic viral hepatitis of HBV etiology. Group II presented patients (n = 69) with chronic viral hepatitis, of HCV etiology. Group III consisted of patients with chronic viral hepatitis mixed form: HBV+HCV (n = 11). The comparison group consisted of 30 practically healthy people. Results. The study revealed a significant increase in cytolysis syndrome indicator enzymes, alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, with a significant increase depending on the viral etiology, being high in group II (p

INTRODUCTION. The impact on a human organism of health resort detox programs based on therapeutic governance of lymphatic tissues drainage on human metabolism and a possibility to reduce intoxication and inflammation level has not been evaluated yet. AIM. To make the first attempt to objectively estimate the influence of health resort body detoxification programs on lipid and carbohydrate metabolism and the processes of intoxication and inflammation. MATERIAL AND METHODS. The laboratory data were obtained for all the patients treated under the detoxication program in the corresponding date range (89 persons had a venous blood collected on the first day and the day before the departure). The dynamics of the laboratory indicators were calculated. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. There is an increase of intoxication markers to the end of the first week and a decrease of inflammation and intoxication markers to the end of the second accompanied by a decrease in total cholesterol level. HOMA decreases in all groups, but other insulin resistance markers remain unaltered. The decrease in cholesterol confirms the expected effect of lymphatic drainage and bile acid loss. There is a decrease in the hepatic insulin resistance without a significant change of the total one. The process of autointoxication rising during the lymphatic drainage and its further decline below the start values is confirmed. CONCLUSION. An attempt was made to evaluate the body's detoxification programmes using laboratory markers. Such programs decrease level of total cholesterol, body’s intoxication and inflammation level, lower hepatic component of the insulin resistance. This impact is in stages.

Sarcopenia is a special condition that develops in older people. Sarcopenia represents a loss of muscle strength and mass in the elderly and is a common disease and is also associated with several adverse health effects. Due to the impact of sarcopenia on quality of life, disability and mortality, greater awareness is needed to correctly identify this condition and in particular its biological immunoendocrine markers. The purpose of the study was to study the characteristics of metabolism in sarcopenia in elderly people at the molecular, cellular and organizational levels. Material and methods. The study included 402 elderly people (199 men and 203 women, average age 68.9 ± 1.2 years), who are divided into three groups depending on the presence or absence of arterial hypertension and sarcopenia. The state of adipose and muscle tissue was studied using anthropometric measurements, bioimpedansometry and dynamometry. Results and discussion. The present study revealed a significant increase in energy exchange tension in patients with arterial hypertension, expressed in the increase in ADP content, but it was not enough to maintain the ATP/ADP ratio at the proper level. In patients with arterial hypertension and sarcopenia, a pronounced deficiency in ATP and ADP content, as well as ATP/ADP ratio was observed. The energy deficiency can also be explained by increase in lactate dehydrogenase activity in patients with arterial hypertension to compensate for energy deficiency by enhancing glycolysis processes. However, when sarcopenia was attached, this sanogenetic compensatory mechanism no longer worked. Conclusions. Dysfunction of adipose tissue in patients with arterial hypertension precedes the development of sarcopenia, while there is an increase in tension in energy exchange, expressed in elevation of ADP content, but when sarcopenia joins, there is a pronounced deficiency in both ATP and ADP content, as well as ATP/ADP ratio.

The aim of our study is to assess the development of obstetric and perinatal complications in obese pregnant women with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) depending on changes in blood lipid spectrum and body mass index (BMI). Materials and methods. We examined 98 pregnant women with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) at the stage of NASH in combination with obesity. The control group consisted of 30 healthy pregnant women. All pregnant women with NAFLD and abdominal obesity were divided into 3 groups depending on BMI: Group I – 26 pregnant women with BMI 25.0–29.9 kg/m², Group II – 48 pregnant women with BMI 30.0–34.9 kg/m2, Group III – 24 pregnant women with BMI 35.0–39.9 kg/m2. Correlations of obstetric complications depending on changes in lipid metabolism and BMI were determined. Results. The analysis of obstetric complications revealed 3.4 times higher risk of early miscarriage in group I, 5.6 times – in group II, 7.5 times – in group III compared the control group (P < 0.05); early gestosis occurred 1.9 times more often in group I, 2.5 times – in group II, 3.3 times – in group III as compared to that in pregnant women of the control group (P < 0.05); the threat of premature birth was found 3.4 times more frequently in group I, 5.6 times – in group II, 7.5 times – in group III as compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Group I patients developed placental dysfunction with a frequency of 2.3 times, group II – of 4.0 times, and group III – of 6.3 times greater than pregnant women of the control group (P < 0.05), and moderate preeclampsia was diagnosed in overweight pregnant women, as well as in women with grade I and grade II–III obesity 2.3 times, 4.7 times and 5.6 times as often, respectively, as in the control group (P < 0.05). Correlation analysis showed correlations between lipid metabolism indicators and an increase in BMI. Conclusions. Obese pregnant women with NAFLD at the stage of NASH were found to have significantly more frequent obstetric and perinatal complications as well as lipid profile abnormalities correlating with increased BMI, which may be due to the presence of NASH and functional liver failure.

Objective: to study the effect of genetic polymorphisms: rs rs9939609 (FTO gene), rs4994 (ADRB3 gene), rs1042713 (ADRB2 gene), rs2228570 (VDR gene), rs1801133 (MTHFR gene) on anthropometric and lipid metabolism indicators in athletes representing martial arts.Materials and methods: studies of anthropometric and biochemical parameters, genetic polymorphisms were carried out in 120 athletes (101 men and 19 women) who are engaged in martial arts. Anthropometric studies were performed by measuring height (cm), body weight (kg), followed by calculating body mass index (BMI, kg / m2). Biochemical nutritional status markers were determined using the ABX Pentra 400 analyzer (HORIBA ABX SAS, France) in an automatic mode. Genotyping was performed using allele­specific amplification using TaqMan probes complementary to polymorphic DNA regions and real­time detection of the results using reagent kits from Syntol, Russia. Studies were performed on the device CFX96 Real Time System (Bio­Rad, USA). Statistical processing of the results was performed using the PASW Statistics 20 system.Results: as a result of generic Diovan athletes martial artists on the risk of non­communicable diseases, discovered that the frequency of allele A of rs9939609 polymorphism of the FTO gene they have is 43.9 %, allele polymorphism rs4994 ADRB3 gene — 10.9 %, G allele of rs1042713 ADRB2 gene polymorphism — 52.6 %, G allele of the polymorphism rs2228570 VDR gene with 44.9 % and allele t of rs1801133 in the MTHFR gene to 36.7 %. An association was found between the value of anthropometric indicators in male martial artists and the presence of polymorphisms rs9939609 (FTO), rs1042713 (ADRB2) and rs2228570 (VDR).Conclusions: the reason for the identified dyslipidemia in martial artists may be not only the previously detected violations of the structure of their nutrition, but also the presence of certain genetic polymorphisms, in particular, rs4994 of the ADRB3 gene and rs1042713 of the ADRB2 gene.

An additional informative tool in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases in the early stages can be the analysis of changes in the fatty acid profile, which can be considered as a marker of various pathological conditions. The study of the effects of fatty acids and the mechanisms of changes in the fatty acid profile in connection with cardiovascular diseases remains relevant. We have analyzed modern data from foreign and domestic literature on issues related to the importance of fatty acids as possible markers in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. Basic information about the structure of fatty acids, their functions in the human body, the relationship between the level of free fatty acids and indicators of the development of pathological processes of the cardiovascular system is presented. The factors influencing the dynamics of fatty acid concentrations both in normal conditions and during the development of pathological processes are reflected. The processes of biochemical modification of the fatty acid composition of the lipid matrix of the cell membrane are considered. The expediency of using fatty acids, together with some protein markers in the diagnosis of diseases of the cardiovascular system, has been shown. The collection and analysis of the accumulated information on the role of fatty acids helps to optimize the use of laboratory markers to determine the stages of pathogenesis of circulatory organ damage, to develop a system for evaluating the effectiveness of therapy for cardiovascular diseases, and to create a set of laboratory and instrumental tests for monitoring the condition of patients.

Introduction. At the current stage of the study of atherosclerosis, it has been established that chronic activation of innate immunity, causing persistent low-intensity sterile inflammation, plays a crucial role at all stages of atherogenesis. Laboratory evaluation of signaling pathways associated with molecular patterns (DAMPs) in atherosclerosis and related to cardiovascular diseases (CVD) may contribute to the discovery of new diagnostic and prognostic markers. Objective: to study the relationship between lipid metabolism parameters and CD36 exposure to circulating monocytes in patientwithout established CVD. Material and methods. The study included 42 patients aged 40–64 years without established atherosclerotic CVD, 19 (45.2 %) men and 23 (54.7 %) women. Dyslipidemia was detected in 95.2 % of patients. The blood serum concentrations of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, glycated hemoglobin, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), creatinine were determined with subsequent calculation of glomerular filtration rate. Phenotyping of circulating monocyte subpopulations was performed by flow cytometry on a Navios 6/2 device (Beckman Coulter, USA). Results and discussion. According to the results of correlation analysis, non-HDL cholesterol levels were inversely correlated with absolute (r = –0.394; p = 0.013) and relative (r = –0.432; p = 0.006) content of CD14+ CD16++CD36+ TLR2+ monocytes. LDL cholesterol levels were also inversely correlated with the relative content of CD14+ CD16+ CD36+ TLR2+ monocytes (r = –0.417; p = 0.018). According to correlation analysis, the level of non-HDL cholesterol inversely correlated with the intensity of CD36 expression on classical (r = –0.650; p < 0.0001), intermediate (r = –0.323; p = 0.045) and non classical (r = –0.480; p = 0.002) monocytes. Also, CD36 expression intensity on classical (r = –0.449; p = 0.004) and non-classical (r = –0.382; p = 0.016) monocytes was inversely correlated with remnant cholesterol levels. In addition, increased non-HLA cholesterol levels were associated with decreased TLR2 expression on CD14+ CD16++ monocytes (r = –0.381; p = 0.018). It should be noted that a decrease in CD36 expression on intermediate monocytes was also associated with an increase in hs-CRP (r = –0.657; p = 0.003). Conclusion. In patients without established atherosclerotic CVD, an increase in cholesterol content of atherogenic lipoprotein fractions was associated with a decrease in the number of CD14+ CD16++ and CD14+CD16+ monocytes co-expressing CD36 and TLR2 as well as with a decrease in CD36 expression on classical, intermediate and non-classical monocytes.

Relevance. The variety of functional changes in internal organs characteristicofgeriatricage necessitates the search for drugs that can exert a multifaceted effect on various links in the pathogenesis of chronic pancreatitis (CP) in comorbidity with the most common diseases of the elderly. Purpose. Investigation of the effectiveness of the inclusion of a systemic enzyme therapy drug in the complex treatment of chronic pancreatitis in elderly patients. Materials and methods. We examined 77 patients with CP over the age of 66 years, the average age (71.3 ± 1.4) g. Group I of patients with CP (23 patients) - took aconventional therapeutic complex (MC) for three months: pantoprazole 40 mg on an empty stomach according to requirement, continuous enzyme replacement therapy with pure pancreatin in an adequate dose with each meal, prokinetics / or antispasmodics if necessary. Group II consisted of 34 patients with CP (MC + W), in addition to LK, the drug of systemic enzyme therapy (SET) Wobenzym, 5 tablets, was taken. three times a day for three months. The control group consisted of 20 patients without signs of pathology of the digestive system. The parameters of lipid metabolism were determined by the enzymatic-colorimetric method. The assessment of the depth of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (PI) was determined by the level of fecal α-elastase (FαE) by enzyme-linked immunosorbentassay using standard BIOSERVELASTASE 1-ELISA kits. Statistical analysis was performed using Excel and the statistical package Statistica v. 5.0. Results. Additional inclusion of the drug SET (Wobenzym) in the generally accepted MC promoted a significant improvement in lipid profile parameters in elderly patients with CP, as well as a reliable correction of the excretory function of the P by the level of FαE (from the level of moderate to mild insufficiency). Conclusions. 1) The inclusion of Wobenzym in the general treatment complex contributed toa decrease in the levels of TC, βLP, TG and LDLP by 15.4%, 19.8%, 32.0% and 33.9%, respectively (p 0.05).

The review presents an analysis of studies on the role of the intestinal microbiota and microbiome in lipid metabolism and the development of dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. The role of the intestine as a metabolic organ with a multifactorial strain evolution, involved in lipid metabolism, cholesterol homeostasis and enterohepatic circulation is shown. The influence of microbial imbalance on the development of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis is considered. Special attention is paid to preventive therapy with hypolipidemic probiotics. It is shown that the use of probiotics with hypolipidemic properties and consisting of a mixture of such strains asLactobacillus plantarumCECT7527, CET7528 and CECT7529, mixtures ofLactobacillus acidophilusLa-5,Bifidobacterium lactisBB-12,Bifidobacterium animalis lactisBB-12 contribute to reducing the level of LDL-C, CCS, TG, are safe and well tolerated, can be used as an adjuvant non-drug therapy in combination with hypolipidemic drugs for dyslipidemia, multifocal atherosclerosis.

Objective: studying the effect of genetic polymorphisms: rs1815739 (ACTN3 gene), rs2016520 (PPARD gene), rs1042713 (ADRB2 gene), rs1799945 (HFE gene) on anthropometric and lipid metabolism indicators in athletes representing martial arts. Materials and methods: studies of anthropometric and biochemical parameters, genetic polymorphisms were carried out in 83 athletes (64 men and 19 women) who were are engaged in martial arts. Anthropometric studies were performed by height (cm) and body weight (kg) measuring followed by calculating body mass index (BMI, kg / m2). Biochemical nutritional status markers were determined using the ABXPENTRA 400 analyzer (HORIBA ABX SAS, France) in an automatic mode. Genotyping was performed using allele-specific amplification using TaqMan probes complementary to polymorphic DNA regions and realtime detection of the results using reagent kits from Syntol, Russia. Studies were performed on the device «CFX96 Real Time System» («BIO-RAD», USA). Statistical processing of the results was performed using the PASW Statistics 20 system. Results: as a result of gene testing for endurance of combat athletes, it was found that the frequency of the T allele of the rs1815739 polymorphism (ACTN3 gene) was 47.5%, the PPARD gene ал20120120 allele G is 13.9%, the rs1042713 G allele of the ADRB2 gene was 51.9%, and the G allele of the rs1799945 polymorphism of the HFE gene was 19.3%. No association was found between the value of anthropometric parameters in athletes and the presence of the studied polymorphisms. Conclusions: the cause of identified dyslipidemia in combat athletes may be not only the disturbances in the structure of their nutrition that we found earlier, but also the presence of certain genetic polymorphisms.

Lipid metabolism is crucial in physiology. In recent decades the model object Drosophila melanogaster has been actively used in the study of the fundamental issues of lipid metabolism and its disorders, including obesity, as well as in the search for therapeutic goals for the treatment of metabolic disorders in humans. Quick and accurate quantification of lipid content is an important step in solving these problems. For the first time the method of quantitative measurement of total lipids with the use of the sulfophosphovanillin (SPV) method was described by Zöllner and colleagues in 1962, and adapted for insects by Van Handel on females of the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti. The advantages of this method compared to traditional gravimetric and chromatographic methods of analysis are the use of a small amount of biological material, lack of need for complex manipulations with the sample, its high sensitivity, reproducibility and simplicity of implementation with a minimum set of equipment. Here, a modification of the Van Handel protocol is described, which allows the method to be adapted for quantitative determination of total lipids for various organisms as exemplified a widely used model, D. melanogaster. To test the effectiveness of the modified method, we measured the content of total lipids in D. melanogaster females carrying hypomorphic mutations of the dilp6 and dfoxo insulin signaling pathway genes compared to the wild-type Canton-S line, and showed that dilp6 took part in the regulation of fat metabolism, while dfoxo did not. The results obtained emphasize the effectiveness of the colorimetric method with the use of SPV reaction and spectrophotometry for the quantitative analysis of total lipids.

Lipid metabolism disorders underlie the pathogenesis of a number of diseases. Indigenous peoples of Siberia have a specific genetically determined type of metabolism supporting such lipid blood parameters that favor increased consumption (in comparison with Caucasians) of animal products. At the same time, indigenous Siberian ethnic groups are less susceptible to metabolic diseases. The objective of the presented study was to investigate the allele frequencies of lipid metabolism genes in indigenous populations of Siberia to identify the ethnic features of allele frequency distribution for polymorphic variants in genes CETP (G1264A, rs5882), LPL (C1791G, rs328) and FTO (C83401A, rs8050136) in the samples taken from Buryats, Teleuts and Russians of Eastern Siberia, and to compare them with data on world populations. Samples of the Eastern (N = 132) and Western (N = 278) Buryats, Teleuts (N = 120), Russians (N = 122) and persons of mixed Buryat-Russian origin (N = 56) were genotyped by real-time PCR using competitive TaqMan-probes. The obtained results have for the first time demonstrated that the CETP and FTO allele frequencies in the Buryat samples are intermediate between European and East Asian populations. Significantly lower incidence of the obesity-assossiated 83401A allele of the FTO gene has been shown in Buryats, compared with Russians, which is consistent with lower susceptibility of the indigenous ethnic groups to metabolic disorders. There have been no population differences in the distribution of LPL gene polymorphic variants associated with dyslipidemia, which means they probably do not contribute to the ethnic characteristics of the lipid profile. The intermediate frequencies of the CETP 1264G and FTO 83401A alleles found in the metis group demonstrate that the metabolic disorders associated with these variants can be rather expected in the descendants of mixed marriages than among Buryats. It has also been demonstrated that Teleuts differ by FTO 83401A allele frequency from some of the European groups and have the lowest detected frequency of the allele CETP 1264G associated with the favorable lipid blood parameters.

Aim. To evaluate effects of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) on inflammation, steatosis and liver fibrosis and atherogenesis factors in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Materials and methods. The study included 139 patients with NAFLD who received 15 mg/kg of UDCA (Ursosan®) per day for 24 weeks. Before and after the study, liver function and lipid metabolism, liver steatosis index FLI, intimamedia thickness (IMT) of the carotid arteries were determined. The cardiovascular risk was calculated according to the ASCVD 2013.Results. The use of UDCA in patients with NAFLD led to a decrease in ALT (p < 0.001), AST (p < 0.001) and GGT (p < 0.001) activity; total cholesterol concentration (p < 0.001); triglycerides (p < 0.001); and LDL (p < 0.001) in the blood and the FLI liver steatosis index (p < 0.001). In addition, the rate of cardiovascular risk (p = 0.022) and IMT (р = 0.048) in women also decreased.Conclusions. The use of UDCA in NAFLD reduces the activity of inflammatory processes in the liver, its steatosis, and also improves lipid metabolism and exerts potential anti-atherogenic effects. Against the background of UDCA administration, there was no progression of liver fibrosis. None of the participants in the observational programme reached a normal body mass by the end of the program; therefore, the attained positive changes should be attributed directly to the effects of UDCA.

Alcohol is one of the leading etiological factors in liver damage. In alcoholic liver disease (ALD), hypoxia occurs due to an imbalance between the energy requirement of hepatocytes and energy production in the mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation system. Diagnosis of ALD includes the taking of an anamnesis, questioning of patients, clinical examination data, laboratory and instrumental study. For the treatment of ALD, agents are used that protect cell membranes from oxidative stress factors and restore the energy potential of cells under conditions of tissue hypoxia. One such hepatotropic infusion is Remaxol®, the original polyionic succinatemethionine complex based on succinic acid. Aim of the study: to consider the effects of using Remaxol® infusion drug in the group of ALD patients. Materials and methods: treatment of 40 patients (male) with ALD was carried out, all of whom had a distinct history of the disease with regular and prolonged alcohol abuse. The duration of the disease in the group was 4.8 ± 0.7 years. Initially, all of them showed increased lipid peroxidation, depression of antioxidant protection, as well as pronounced sings of cytolysis, cholestasis and lipid metabolism. Then, all patients in the group were treated with Remaxol®. The course of treatment ranged from 5 to 10 daily intravenous drip infusions. After treatment, the parameters of lipid peroxidation malondialdehyde (MDA), diene conjugates (DC), enzymes of antioxidant system catalase (Cat), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GP), markers of cytolysis, cholestasis and lipid metabolism were again investigated in the serum of patients. Results of the study: a positive effect after monotherapy with Remaxol® was observed in 34 patients, which amounted to 85% of the group. They recorded a significant decrease in lipid peroxidation and a compensatory increase in antioxidant system enzymes. The indicators of cytolysis and cholestasis syndromes significantly decreased, lipid metabolism was restored, and the subjective status of patients improved. There were no side effects during the treatment with Remaxol® in the group of patients with ALD. Conclusions: It was noted that therapy with Remaxol® caused positive laboratory dynamics in 34 patients, which amounted to 85% of all treated patients with ALD. Thus, it has been shown that therapy with Remaxol® is an effective method of treating alcoholic liver disease.

The search for early markers of atherosclerosis is an effective method for providing personalized medicine allowing the prevention of the progression of this pathology. The aim of this study was the determination of the total indices of dyslipidemia and the identification of the gender indices of the extended lipid profile in the population of residents of the Southern and Central Federal Districts (Voronezh, Belgorod, Lipetsk, Kursk and Rostov regions) for the identification of early markers of atherogenicity. In a simultaneous clinical study, involving 339 patients (mean age 48 years), the concentrations of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL (low density lipoproteins), HDL (high density lipoproteins), apolipoproteins B and A1, the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and the atherogenic coefficient were determined. For the identification of the relationship between changes in lipid profile indicators with cytolysis syndrome and indicators of carbohydrate metabolism, the activity of ALAT (alanine aminotransferase), GGTP (gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase) and glucose content were also studied. Analysis of the results of the lipid spectrum of the population sample of the middle age group revealed significant metabolic disorders of lipid metabolism with a predominance of atherogenic lipid fractions and a significant excess of indicators of atherogenic lipid fractions in middle-aged men in comparison with women. BACKGROUND: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is epidemiologically related to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. The pathophysiology clues are metabolic changes and obesity. The most studied anthropometric predictors of obesity, such as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), are influenced by various factors such as sex, type of constitution, hydration balance. The normal range of BMI and WC limits the diagnostic search for metabolic disturbances and visceral obesity in patients with respiratory sleep distress and can lead to increased cardiovascular risks. AIMS: to investigate the visceral obesity predictors in normal weight patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We had performed а cross-sectional study, 68 patients were examined with mean age of 38.24 ± 7.4 years. The main group (38 individuals) was represented by patients with OSAS. The control group consisted of healthy individuals without OSAS. Alternative markers of visceral obesity, such as lipid accumulation products, visceral obesity index, conicity index have been studied. RESULTS: In the main group we found different disorders of lipid metabolism such as the increase in triglyceride levels by 94%, low-density lipids by 32%, total cholesterol by 10% compared with the control group. Anthropometric evidence was obtained for excessive fat accumulation in patients with normal body weight and OSAS: WC was 89.6 ± 5.7 cm in the main group and was higher than in the control group 83.7 ± 6.3 cm (p = 0.024) due to an increase in the visceral fat compartment, as evidenced by the conicity index (67.2 ± 7.0 and 59.3 ± 6.2 respectively, p = 0.032) and waist to height ratio (0.58 ± 0.05 and 0.53 ± 0.04 in the main and control groups, respectively, p = 0.041). Correlation relationships between the severity of sleep apnea syndrome and visceral obesity indicators were revealed. CONCLUSIONS: Normal weight patients with breathing disorders are at risk of visceral fat obesity and, thereby, increased cardiovascular risk. Assessment of additional markers of visceral obesity in patients with normal body weight and sleep apnea is recommended to include in the dynamic observation programms.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and alcoholic liver disease (ALD) are serious health problems. Features of liver steatosis (LS) due to NAFLD and ALD in rural areas, including lipid metabolism indicators, depending on body mass index (BMI), have not been thoroughly studied.Aim. To study the features of lipid metabolism in residents of rural area in LS due to NAFLD and ALD depending on the BMI.Materials and Methods: 1152 residents of a rural therapeutic site were surveyed. Lipidograms and BMI were analyzed in patients with LS at NAFLD and ALD.Results. There were no patients with a reduced BMI in the rural medical site. Persons with BMI ≥ 25 among patients with LS on the background of NAFLD (98.2 %) are significantly more frequent than on the background of ALD (55.1 %) (p < 0.001). Among subjects with normal BMI there were more patients with ALD (44.9 %) than with NAFLD (1.8 %) (p < 0.001). There were no significant differences in age in patients with in NAFLD depending on BMI (p > 0.05). Patients with LS of ALD with an increased BMI were older than those with a normal index (p < 0.05). Also, there were no differences in lipidograms with LS on the background of NAFLD and ALD depending on BMI (p > 0.05). Triglyceride levels (TG) and atherogenic coefficient (AC) were significantly higher (p < 0.05 in both cases) in LS with ALD than in patients with NAFLD. Findings. Disorders of lipid metabolism were found in patients with LS with both increased BMI and normal. At the rural therapeutic site, patients with LS due to ALD have more pronounced lipid metabolism disorders than those ones with NAFLD, regardless of BMI.

Background: Patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) have increased mortality risk predominantly attributed to cardiovascular disease. Taking the risk factors for cardiovascular disease into account, such as overweight, atherogenic dyslipidaemia, carbohydrate metabolism disorders and insulin resistance (IR), investigation on the the study of the state of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in patients with PHPT will help to shed light on the pathogenic mechanisms of the disease and, perhaps, to complement the algorithm for selecting treatment strategies for patients with PHPT. Aims: To study the prevalence of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism disorders among patients with PHPT and to identify the relationship between these two disorders with the indicators of mineral metabolism. Materials and methods: A case-control study of a total of age-matched 256 female patients, 220 patients with PHPT and 36 healthy individuals. The group patients with PHPT were sub-divided into two groups, symptomatic and mild form of PHPT. To verify the form of PHPT, ultrasound examinations of the parathyroid glands and kidneys, two-energy x-ray absorptiometry, biochemical studies (concentration of total and ionised calcium, serum phosphorus and the activity of alkaline phosphatase) and assessment of parathyroid hormone concentration were performed. The relationship between form of PHPT and body weight were evaluated retrospectively according to the survey. Among the 109 participants with PHPT (symptomatic PHPT: 82 patients; mild PHPT: 27 patients) and healthy individuals, the biochemical and hormonal parameters of fat (lipid spectrum of blood) and carbohydrate metabolism (content of immunoreactive insulin, HOMA index, presence of fasting glycemia disorder, glucose tolerance disorders and type 2 diabetes mellitus) were evaluated. Results: The symptomatic PHPT was associated with low body mass index (BMI) while the mild PHPT with high BMI. During an oral glucose tolerance test, the postprandial glycemia in symptomatic PHPT was significantly higher than that in mild PHPT (p = 0.036). The content of immunoreactive insulin in the symptomatic PHPT was not correlated with the concentration of parathyroid hormone, but positively correlated with the concentration of ionised calcium in the blood (r = 0.31; p = 0.006). Patients with PHPT showed a direct positive correlation between BMI and IR index (r = 0.67; p < 0.001). It is shown that patients with PHPT have increased LDL content in the blood, and the actual blood lipid concentration is associated with the state of kidney function. Conclusions: The obtained data confirm the relationship between phosphorus–calcium metabolism disorders in PHPT and carbohydrate and lipid metabolism disorders. Prospective, controlled studies are warranted to better elucidate the causal relationships of mineral, carbohydrate and fat metabolism disorders in PHPT.

Abstract Aim. To study the lipid metabolism indexes and sex hormones level in the blood serum of patients with chronic hepatitis C. Materials and methods. The content of hormones and lipid metabolism were determined in 33 patients with chronic hepatitis C. Among them 27 (81.8 %) were men and 6 (18.2 %) were women with an average of 39.27 ± 1.53 years old. The study of plasma lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoproteins, low-density and very low-density lipoproteins) was carried out using enzymic photometric methods. The study of blood hormone levels was carried out by the dual-wavelength fluorescent detection. Results. Reliable lipid metabolism violations were revealed, namely significant increase in triglyceride, low-density lipoproteins, very low-density lipoproteins and decrease in high-density lipoproteins in the blood serum of patients with chronic hepatitis C. Total cholesterol level in patients with chronic hepatitis C had no significant difference with that of the control group patients (P > 0.05). There was significant 2,7 times (P < 0.001) increase in serum progesterone in men and its significant 1.86 times (P < 0.05) decrease in women with chronic hepatitis C. There was no significant difference in serum testosterone level parameters between men with chronic hepatitis C and the control group (P > 0.05), while there was significant 2.98 times decrease in serum testosterone in women with chronic hepatitis C compared to the control group (P < 0.001). In patients with chronic hepatitis C a decreasing tendency in the serum estradiol was determined in men (P >0.05) and its significant reduction in the serum of women (P < 0.01) compared to the control group. Conclusions. Violations of lipid metabolism have been determined in patients with chronic hepatitis C in terms of significant increase in triglyceride (P < 0.001), low-density lipoproteins (P < 0.001), very low-density lipoproteins (P < 0.001) and decrease in high-density lipoproteins (P < 0.001) in the blood serum. Disorders of sexual hormones levels have been revealed in the examined patients, namely decrease in serum progesterone (P < 0.05), testosterone (P < 0.001) and estradiol (P < 0.01) in women and increase in serum progesterone (P < 0.001) in men.

The purpose of this study was the assessment of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and its links with carbohydrate and lipid metabolism parameters in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and type 2 diabetes mellitus following determination of asymmetric dimethylarginine and NO synthase plasma levels. Materials and methods. The study included examination of 73 patients with acute myocardial infarction and type 2 diabetes mellitus, 57 patients with AMI without type 2 diabetes and 20 conditionally healthy individuals. The content of ADMA and NO synthase was measured by using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit (ADMA Xpress ELISA kit;Immundiagnostik,Austria) and Bender MedSystem (Austria), respectively. The parameters of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism were determined by a standard biochemical method. Results. A significant 2.64 times increased level of ADMA (1.24 ± 0.04 μmol/L) was found in the patients with AMI and type 2 diabetes compared to the practically healthy persons (control group) (0.47 ± 0.05 μmol/L), and 2.53 times increased (P < 0.05) in comparison with the patients without type 2 diabetes. In the presence of type 2 diabetes the 40.1 % (P < 0.05) decrease in NOs level was noted compared to the control group (3.12 ± 0.11ng / ml and 5.21 ± 0.19 ng/ml, respectively) and the 26.1 % (P < 0.05) decrease compared to the patients with AMI without type 2 diabetes. The study provided a possibility to determine a direct correlation between ADMA and total cholesterol (r = 0.47; P < 0.05); LDL cholesterol (r = 0.28; P < 0.05), HDL cholesterol (r = -0.39; P < 0.05), triglycerides (P = 0.35; P < 0.05), glucose (P = 0.46; P < 0.05), insulin = 0.49; P < 0.05), glycosylated hemoglobin (r = 0.39; P < 0.05). Correlation analysis showed an inverse correlation between ADMA and NO synthase levels (r = -0.67; P < 0.05). Conclusions. The association between asymmetric dimethylarginine high levels and pathological changes in the parameters of carbohydrate, lipid metabolism and endothelial dysfunction has been established, which increases ischemia in the vessel wall and adversely affects the course and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The article presents the results of a study of the effect of complex feed additives on the biochemical parameters of the blood serum of broiler chickens. It’s been established that a complex feed, consisting of a feed vitamin-mineral concentrate and a probiotic feed additive, has a positive effect on the biochemical homeostasis of the blood of broiler chickens, which is due to their synergistic effect.

Objective: Based on objective criteria of the structural and functional state of the kidneys in various urgent surgical and uronephrological pathologies (peritonitis, pancreonecrosis, intestinal obstruction, urinary peritonitis, acute purulent secondary pyelonephritis) to identify and prove the general pattern of development of renal changes, their influence on the pathogenesis of homeostasis disorders at the organizational level and to form the evidence base of a new symptom complex - renal distress syndrome in surgery and uronephrology; to establish the effectiveness of Remaxol in its correction., Material and Methods: Experimentally on 60 mongrel dogs with acute peritonitis, pancreatitis, intestinal obstruction of varying severity, the state of renal function, including detoxification, was assessed based on the assessment of the inflow-outflow difference in the level of toxins and in the parenchyma of organs - the composition of lipids, the activity of peroxidation of membrane lipids and phospholipases. Clinical and laboratory studies included patients with acute peritonitis (48), acute pancreatitis (18), intestinal obstruction (21), acute purulent secondary pyelonephritis (19). Patients with peritonitis (20) underwent standardized therapy (the first subgroup) or with the inclusion of Remaxol (28) (the second subgroup)., Results: In the experiment and in the clinic, in acute surgical and some urological diseases with a different nature of the inflammatory process, there is a significant decrease in renal function. The recorded acute renal injury is combined with a pronounced membrane-stabilizing process in the tissue structures of the kidneys, the degree of which is associated with the severity of the disease. In order to correct and stabilize the indicated changes, Remaxol was used. The drug increased kidney tolerance to trigger pathogenetic agents, which improved the functional status of the kidneys. These data confirm the significance of the studied molecular mechanisms in kidney damage in urgent pathology., Conclusion: Experimental and clinical evidence has been obtained for the formation of a new concept - a symptom complex in acute surgical and uronephrological diseases of the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space called renal distress syndrome. Renal distress syndrome in surgery and uronephrology is a set of pathological processes of the body, the most important manifestation of which is the progression of endogenous intoxication due to a violation of the functional status of the kidneys as a result of membrane-stabilizing phenomena of organ cells due to oxidative stress and phospholipase activity.

Despite the widespread use of oat β-glucans as ingredient of foods and dietary supplements, there is insufficient data on their effect on the metabolism of vitamins and minerals. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of including oat bran with a high content of β-glucans (β-glucan) in the diet on the absorption of micronutrients and lipid metabolism in growing rats deficient in vitamins D, group B and trace elements (iron, copper, zinc). Material and methods . After the development of micronutrient deficiency (for 23 days), in order to assess the effect of oat bran (5%) with a high content of β-glucans on the correction of the micronutrient status of growing male Wistar rats (with initial body weight of 70.7±0.7 g), the missing micronutrients were introduced in the semi-synthetic diet deficient in vitamins D, group B, iron, copper and zinc within 7 days either along with β-glucan (1.47%) or without its addition. Indicators of micronutrient sufficiency (riboflavin serum concentration, daily urinary excretion of thiamine, riboflavin and 4-pyridoxic acid, measured by fluorometric methods; serum concentration and urinary excretion of calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, phosphorus, measured by the atomic absorption method or using standard methods on a biochemical analyzer) and the biochemical parameters of blood serum were compared with the parameters of rats adequately provided with all micronutrients throughout the experiment. Results . Replenishment of missing micronutrients in the diet of rats with deficiency in vitamins D and group B, iron, copper and zinc for 7 days led to the elimination of deficiency of vitamins B1, B2 and B6, regardless of the presence of β-glucans in the diet. At the same time, against the background of the presence of β-glucans in the feed, an increase in the absorption of iron was observed, as evidenced by an increase by 1.73 times in iron blood plasma level (р<0.05) and a tendency towards its urinary excretion decrease by 1.60 fold (р<0.10) compared to animals from the control group. Adding oat bran with β-glucans to the feed did not lead to a decrease in blood plasma level of total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins cholesterol. The levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides in rats of all three groups did not have statistically significant differences. Conclusion . Objective: Study of the peculiarities of correction of metabolic disorders in women of the perimenopausal period Methods: 77 women were surveyed in perimenopause with metabolic syndrome (MS). Conducted analysis of hereditary prevalence and reproductive function; used clinical trails, studied carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, hormonal status; anthropometry, monitoring of arterial pressure, ultrasound of pelvic organs and liver. Results: Heredity in patients was burdened with cardiovascular diseases (58.4%), obesity (46.8%), diabetes mellitus (38.9%) and oncological pathology (18.2%). All interviewees have not given due attention to eating and enjoyed of food rich in carbohydrates in easily digestible form (81.8%). Patients showed: an increase in the body mass index (BMI) with an average value of 32±2.3 kg/m2, abdominal obesity (100%), insulin resistance (96.1%), dyslipidemia (84.4%), endocrinopathy (58.4%), hyperglycemia (55.8%), arterial hypertension (50.6%), androgen-dependent manifestations (32.5%), "Negroid acanthosis" (31,2%), steatosis of the liver (41.6%). The aim of this study was to determine the informative value and clinical significance of the ratio of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol to apolipoprotein-B (LDL-C/apoB) in the overall evaluation of blood lipid profile atherogenicity. Material and methods. A total of 157 apparently healthy men with normolipidemia were included in the study. The plasma levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), apoA-I, apoB and apoE were measured on the Powerwave 200 automated spectrophotometer (USA) with commercially available kits (Chronolab Systems, Spain). Several clinical ratios and indices of lipid metabolism were calculated. Results. The use of apoB content in low-density lipoproteins (LDL) instead of total apoB level in plasma is preferable in calculating the LDL-C/apoB ratio. Low values of the LDL-C/LDL-apoB ratio, indicating a predominance of small dense LDL particles in plasma, were associated with higher triglycerides levels and lower apoE levels. This finding indicates that apoE, being a metabolically active apolipoprotein and regulating residence of triglycerides-rich lipoproteins in plasma, can affect size of the LDL particles. Conclusion. Thus, presence of small, dense LDL particles in plasma of men with normolipidemia can be a consequence of disturbances in catabolism and metabolic turnover of lipoproteins.

Background. The hormonal alteration in menopause can lead to changes in the lipid metabolism parameters. The results of studies on this issue are ambiguous and suggest ethno-specific changes in the lipid profile. Aim: comparative assessment of lipid metabolism parameters in women of Caucasian and Asian races in peri- and postmenopause. Materials and methods. 146 women of Caucasian (ethnic group - Russian (n = 82)) and Asian (ethnic group - Buryats (n = 64)) races participated as volunteers in the prospective non-randomized study for the period 2012-2016. Each ethnic group was divided into three subgroups - women of reproductive age, women in perimenopause, and in postmenopause, according to the gynecological status. The lipid metabolism parameters were determined by the enzymatic method on a biochemical analyzer BTS-330. When analyzing the intergroup differences for independent samples, nonparametric criteria were used. Results. In Russian perimenopausal women, compared with women of reproductive age, we registered an increase in triglycerol levels by 1.90 times (p < 0.05) and cholesterol of very low density lipoproteins by 2.10 times (p < 0.05), followed by an increase of total cholesterol levels by 1.22 times (p < 0.05) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol by 1.40 times (p < 0.05) in postmenopausal period. In representatives of the Buryat ethnos, the changes in the lipid metabolism parameters were detected only in postmenopause, they consisted in increased total cholesterol levels - by 1.31 times (p < 0.05) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol - by 1.45 times (p < 0.05). Conclusions. Changes in the lipid profile in menopause are more pronounced in representatives of the Russian ethnic group.

The aim of this study is to analyze gender features of patients with arterial hypertension (AH) associated with obesity and to investigate their interaction with the indicators of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and vaspin levels. Materials and methods. 72 patients with AH were selected for the study. In dependence to the presence of obesity, the patients were divided into 3 groups. The 1st group with AH included 32 patients without obesity. Among them there were 19 (59.4 %) women and 13 (40.6 %) men. The 2nd group consisted of 40 patients with overweight and obesity. Among them there were 17 (42.5 %) women and 23 (57.5 %) men. The 3rd (control) group consisted of 16 healthy individuals aged from 28 to 41 years old. Among them there were 10 (62.5 %) women and 6 (37.5 %) men. All the examined patients underwent anthropometric measurements, blood pressure levels, blood levels of insulin, glucose, blood lipid levels, serum vaspin concentrations, insulin resistance (IR) index. Results. Gender differences in vaspin levels and the degree of IR have been found only in males of both study groups. In this case, these parameters significantly correlated with anthropometric indices and insulin levels in men. Conclusions. The study showed that the increase of the studied parameters of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and vaspin levels was observed in men and women with hypertension associated with obesity and without it. However, gender differences were found in vaspin levels and the IR degree only in males of both study groups. The parameters of vaspin and IR significantly correlated with anthropometric indices and HOMA – IR in men. Perhaps, gender characteristics should be taken into account in the treatment tactics choice of patients with hypertension and obesity.

In pancreatic cancer (PC) proved the role of obesity not only as a PC risk factor, but also as a factor associated with reduced survival in PC in adulthood. In PC is marked by increased lipogenesis: an increased need of cancer cells in the fatty acid (FA) is implemented not only by increasing lipogenesis de novo, but also by the exogenous FA assimilation, although several meta-analyses have not confirmed the importance of dietary fat in increasing the PC risk. Metabolic reprogramming of cancer cells is aimed at ensuring the rapid proliferation of tumor cells: the transition to aerobic glycolysis, increased expression of enzymes involved in the FA formation (citrate-synthase, ATP-citrate lyase and FA synthase - FASN), due to a mutation of the gene TP53 . As therapeutic agents in PC offer to inhibit FASN, and also impact prenylation and post-prenylation of oncogenes, in particular, KRAS , known as drugs, given the pleiotropic effect of atorvastatin and newly synthesized inhibitor farnesyltransferase R115777.

Goal. To assess particular features of lipid metabolism in psoriasis patients with concomitant metabolic syndrome (MS). Materials and methods. Total cholesterol, triglycerides (TG) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL cholesterol) were determined in the blood serum of psoriasis patients by the enzymatic method using a spectrophotometer at the wavelength of 500 nm. The level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL cholesterol) was determined by the calculation method using W. Friedewald’s formula (1972). The cholesterol atherogenicity ratio (CAR) was calculated by the formula: CAR = (Total cholesterol - HDL cholesterol) / HDL cholesterol Results. Patients suffering from psoriasis vulgaris are distinguished by lipid metabolism abnormalities characterized by the development of atherogenic dyslipidemia, increase in the total cholesterol, TG and LDL cholesterol in blood, reduction in the HDL cholesterol level and increased CAR. Patients with concomitant metabolic disorders have more obvious changes.

Modern data about mechanism of endothelium contribution to onset and development of vascular failures in cardio-vascular diseases are represented in the article. Development of vascular failures – myocardial infarction, stroke, unstable angina, which lead to sudden death, can be as a result of acute vascular spasm, thrombus’ forming and rupture of atherosclerotic plaque. Aim – to analyze scientific literature to summarize data about contemporary views on the role of endothelial dysfunction in the mechanisms of vascular events. Key pathogenesis mechanisms, including the role of endothelium’s dysfunction, are arguable. Vascular wall defect is an important initial part of cardio-vascular pathology development – from risk factors to the death. Mechanism are multifaceted and associated with vascular tonus regulation, intactness of vascular wall, atherogenesis processes and hemostasis system. Endothelial dysfunction, determined by any pathogenic factor, leads to increased lipoproteins’ permeability and disturbance of lipid-transport system in general. Functional lipid-transport system disorders are associated with blood plasma’s lipolytic activity. New data about contribution of heparin deficiency in progressive endothelial dysfunction’s pathogenesis along with active correction of blood reologic properties in aterogenesis are represented. Conclusions. Endothelial dysfunction in modern understanding is not only pathology of vascular wall, but a deep and complex system of disturbances and compensatory-adaptive reactions, which originates on molecular-genetic level. Study of the initial mechanisms of endothelial function dysregulation in vascular failures can be the prospective direction of modern medicine. Further researches of the primary injuring factor’s nature, which causes the vascular failures, can give not only the possibility to effect on pathogenetic mechanisms of cardio-vascular diseases development, but foresee and prevent the sudden death, increase the life expectancy.

Objective: comparative analysis of biochemical, immunological status in patients with different stages of diabetic retinopathy. Material and methods. The study group included 137 patients with diabetic retinopathy. A control group consisted of 30 patients with myopia average. Results. The increase of indicators such as glycated hemoglobin, glucose, cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, IL-8, IL-6, TNF-alpha in patients with diabetic retinopathy compared to normal values. The content of IFN -y in both groups significantly below the normal level. Conclusion. The final peroxidation products, reactive oxygen species generate new antigens and trigger an immune response that is expressed in the form of increased concentration of IL-6 (acute phase of immune inflammation), and then TNF-alpha and IL-8; these cytokines activate angiogenic growth factors TGF 131 and VEGF. Increasing the concentration of angiogenic factors triggers neovascularization and proliferation.

Transgenesis has become a routine for modern biological studies. The most popular method for producing transgenic animals–pronuclear microinjection–frequently leads to host gene disruption due to a random transgene integration. In this paper, we report our analysis of morphophysiological parameters of the transgenic mouse line GM9, in which a transgene designed for milk-specific expression of the human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) gene was integrated into the intron of the Contactin 5 gene (Cntn5). We studied Cntn5 expression with RT-PCR and discovered that its expression in the brain, the primary organ of Cntn5 activity, was unperturbed. However, transgenic animals had less Cntn5 transcripts in other tissues such as the kidney and heart. In addition, we observed a decreased amount of splice variants of Cntn5 exons that flank the transgene integration site. These data suggest that the transgene integration event might affect proper Cntn5 splicing in some tissues. Publications exist that imply that some polymorphisms in the Cntn5 gene are associated with obesity and arterial hypertension in humans. We evaluated core parameters of lipid metabolism and heart activity in mice homozygous and heterozygous for Cntn5 mutation using wild- type animals as control. Our results uncovered that homozygous mutant mice have lower body weight than controls and that it is caused by slower accumulation of fat tissue. Cntn5 mutants also exhibit abnormalities in blood circulation: homozygous Cntn5 mutants are characterized by a higher blood pressure and heart beat rate, as well as faster blood flow in the tail vessels. Heterozygous animals showed intermediate results for all of these parameters.

Functioning of a number of transamination enzymes and alkaline phosphatase as well as some values of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism on background of protein in cattle blood at fasciolosis are studied. Total blood protein was determined by Loury method, alkaline phosphatase activity – by colorimetric method based on the hydrolysis of n-nitrophenol phosphate. The glutamate transferase activity was estimated by L.J. Olsen method, transaminase activity – by Reitman-Frankel method. Cholesterol levels were measured according to Liebermann–Burchard reaction, the pyruvate content was determined using the diphenylhydrazine method, and lactate – according to reaction withparaoxydiphenyl. The functional status of blood at fasciolosis is marked by the decrease in total protein and pyruvate with the increase of activity of glutamate transferase, alkaline phosphatase, lactate and cholesterol.

In recent years, the number of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) increased, which may be due to the increasing information stress and wide introduction of new information technologies. Manifestations of ADHD may be the cause of impaired social and school adaptation, learning difficulties, reduced academic achievements. The syndrome is believed to cause suffering to the frontal lobe of the brain, subcortical structures of the brain, reticular formation and stem structures. The features of the formation of the metabolic processes underlying the adaptive-compensatory mechanisms in children with different interhemispheric relations of brain and ADHD are studied insufficiently. Lipids form the basis of the central nervous system and the lipid matrix of cell membranes. The processes of lipid peroxidation have damaging effect on a cell by altering the structure of cell membranes. The aim of the study was to investigate peculiarities of the carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, peroxidation that determine the normal functioning of metabolic and cellular homeostasis in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and different hemispheric relations. 54 children of 7-11 years, living in Irkutsk, were examined. Patients were characterized by the normal level of general mental development, the absence of anemia, endocrine diseases, by the absence in the anamnesis of craniocerebral traumas, neuroinfections, epilepsy, mental illness. Changes of metabolic reactions had distinct individual differences of patients, due to specific functional activity of the cerebral hemispheres.

The article presents the pathophysiological assessment of the results of atherogenic dyslipidemia simulation in Wistar rats. Dyslipidemia was followed by 24 % increase of triglyceride and 19 % raise of total cholesterol in blood, while the atherogenic cholesterol of low density lipoproteins increased by 39 %, and the content of anti-atherogenic cholesterol of high density lipoproteins decreased by 21 %. Furthermore, the level of modified low density lipoproteins in the blood increased by 1.8 times. On the background of lipid storage disorder the rats of the experimental group showed the signs of endothelial dysfunction: circulating endothelial cell number increased by 1.9 times, proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-1beta (IL-1ß), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-a) increased by 21, 18 and 16 % respectively, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) concentration - by 2.2 times, and fibrinogen concentration - by 17 %.

It is considered that hypercholesterolemia is life-threatening and low cholesterol levels are a positive factor. However, taking into consideration the fact that cholesterol plays a key role in cell proliferation, it should be remembered that its low blood level may be linked to high cholesterol demands from neoplastic cells. The literature review analyzes the results of recent investigations of lipid metabolism in patients with hematologic cancers and their other types. All given investigations show a significant reduction in the serum levels of total cholesterol and high-density lipoproteins in patients with hematological disease at its onset. The data for other indicators of the lipid transport system are ambiguous. Such changes have been elucidated to be associated with the accumulation of cholesterol in the leukemia cells due to enhanced synthesis de novo, a more active absorption from circulation and blocked release of its surplus. If the disease runs a favorable course, lipid metabolic parameters become normalized and, in case of remission, correspond to those seen in healthy individuals. They continue to decline in patients with disease progression. This allows the consideration of cholesterol, its fractions, and apolipoproteins as biochemical prognostic markers in hematological cancer patients and as indicators for assessment of treatment results. In addition, there is evidence for the effect of chemotherapeutic agents on lipid metabolism. Recent attempts to elaborate new treatment strategies, by using the current knowledge on the role of lipid metabolism in cancers, are considered.

Objective: To study the clinical and prognostic significance of gene polymorphisms APOA1 rs670, APOA5 rs662799 and ACE rs4341 in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: 358 patients admitted with STEMI and undergoing diagnosis and treatment at the Kemerovo Cardiology Clinic were included in the study. Blood samples were collected at days 2–14 for genotyping. Clinical and demographic data, laboratory and instrumental findings were assessed. Data analysis was performed using the STATISTICA program (version 8.0; StatSoft, Tulsa, Oklahoma) and the genetic calculators (GeneXpert) with the construction of different inheritance models. Results: The carriers of the CC genotype of gene APOA5 demonstrated significantly higher triglyceride levels, whereas the level of high density lipoprotein cholesterol was lower in the carriers of the CC-genotype. The carriers of the GG genotype had a 3-fold increased risk of recurrent myocardial infarction (OR = 2.99, 95 % CI = 1.33–6.73, p = 0.006), and a 2.12-fold increased risk of early post-infarction angina, pulmonary edema and in-hospital death (OR = 2.12, 95 % CI = 1.14-3.94, p = 0.02). Allele D of gene ACE was associated with thickening intima-media complex of carotid arteries (OR = 1,65, 95 % CI = 1,04–2,61, p = 0,03). Conclusion: The polymorphic variants of genes associated with lipid metabolism disorders (APOA1, APOA5) and arterial hypertension (ACE) may be used to assess the clinical severity and in-hospital prognosis in patients with myocardial infarction.

Aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of the laboratory parameters of hemostasis, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in women with metabolic syndrome, isolated abdominal obesity or with hypertension.Materials and methods. The study included 71 women aged 30 – 44 years and was conducted at laboratory study of hemostasis system, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.Results. In women with abdominal obesity and arterial hypertension we found an increased levels of glucose, total cholesterol, LDL-C and triglycerides and a decrease in a concentration of HDL-C compared to healthy women. The study of hemostasis revealed prothrombotic changes in the form of activation of coagulation hemostasis and fibrinolysis system activity.Conclusions. The disorders of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism are very prevalent in young women with abdominal obesity and hypertension with every second woman meeting the criteria for the metabolic syndrome. The most pronounced signs of activation of blood coagulation markes was seen in women with abdominal obesity and hypertension. In women with the individual components of the metabolic syndrome there were no significant changes in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, although we saw an early signs of activation of hemocoagulation.

Aim. To study the lipid-lowering therapy, the adequacy of its control, as well as the awareness of patients at a high cardiovascular risk of atherosclerosis problems and the dynamics of these parameters in 3 years. Material and methods. Patients with dyslipidemia (113 patients in 2011 and 100 patients in 2014) who were treated in the cardiology clinic were examined. Patient survey on the lipid-lowering therapy and its monitoring was conducted. Medical records of patients were studied also. Results. The number of patients informed on atherosclerosis aspects increased from 52% to 59% (p>0.05) in 3 years. Laboratory control of lipid metabolism remained inadequate. Insufficient lifestyle modification changes (diet, smoking, physical inactivity) were present. Lipid-lowering drugs were regularly taken by 26% of the patients in 2011 and 29% in 2014 (p>0.05) and a control of lipid metabolism was absent in 12% and 14% of the patients, respectively (p>0.05). Only 27% of the patients gave the importance of lipid-lowering therapy 10 points on a 10-point scale. Conclusion. Dynamics of patients awareness on atherosclerosis and measures taken to correct and control lipid metabolism disorders were insignificant within 3 years. High costs of medication and the underestimation of treatment importance by the patient play an important role in poor adherence.

The article describes lipid metabolism in women during premenopausal and considered their relationship with the level of insulin sensitivity and abdominal obesity. Examined 20 women aged 46-48 years, with fixed transition to pre-menopause on the bases of menstrual cycle dysfunction or amenorrhea during a year as well as a decrease of visualized follicular reserve according to the results of ultrasonic examination of the organs of the small pelvis, were involved into investigation. Body mass increase with abdominal obese formation and disorders of the lipid metabolism against a background of insulin resistance is observed in women during pre-menopause against a background of sexual hormones deficiency.

The 83rd European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) Congress held in Glasgow, UK, March 22-25, 2015. The scientific program of the Congress has been prepared to reflect the most current data of the problem of atherosclerosis. The program included interdisciplinary research and new topics: “A new look at the vascular wall”, “Novel insights into the regulation of lipid and lipoprotein metabolism”, “Future challenges and opportunities in the prevention and treatment of CVD”. This year’s Congress visited above 2000 delegates from 77 countries. Abstracts will be published in the Atherosclerosis journal. Russian participants presented more than 50 poster presentations. The review was prepared based on materials of EAS Congress 2015 and the website http://www.eas2015.kenes.com/.
